I am off very early tomorrow morning for a couple of weeks. I will leave you with some (more than some, in all fairness) musical gems from the youtube vault.

I can't be arsed to do anything more than copy/paste the links from the playlist I compiled (with some exceptions). So randomly click and see what you get, I guess. Personal recommendations are bolded.

If you have to watch one and no others, make sure it's the COMATEENS: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iQt1vKJBbrk

Oh, and, by the way, this is one of the greatest songs of its genre EVER:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=aqDvAaAZ5J0

And so was this:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=1pYRTApUUX8

And this is one of the best songs out of Scandinavia, ever:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=cAuHyrLovZA

This is too. it's a MUST-WATCH:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=q9fffXnSYdo

Marissa Nadler is flat-out the best, and this is a neat Cohen cover:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=s9isApF3Y7w

On the subject of covers, this is the greatest ever:

One of the best live bands ever, but unfortunately because Adrian Borland didn't look very attractive, they didn't get anywhere much:

(great)

(one of NZ's finest)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=M3ULozS5BJw (another of NZ's finest)

(AND ANOTHER)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=QDB8qDySAOw (scotland's finest band)

(scotland's second finest)

I was going to argue with you about Scotlands best ever band, but to my surprise you were right

Well, it wasn't going to be Strawberry Switchblade or Altered Images.

Have a good trip mate. You're needed back on N/O I think.

Thanks for the wishes. It should be pretty enjoyable if I don't get EXPLODED BY TERRORISTS. N-O unfortunately just frustrates me now. I can't read a thread without wanting to say something horrible in response.

Where you going?

183006[/snapback]

East coast, 9 days in Noo Joisey (not my ideal destination in terms of place, but it's where my friend is), then a few days in the city. It'll just be nice to get out of the house for a bit to be honest. Plus my friend is female. and attractive.

I've heard of Orange Juice like, wasn't Edwyn Collins in them? I remember 'Rip it Up'. Might check them out.

yep, that's right. They're really terrific. They're one of the bands where if you get into them they're very rewarding- ie, consistent back-catalogue, etc.

Thats the boys, fantastic band. Their first few singles were absolutely superb. Falling and Laughing, Blue Boy, Simply thrilled honey, Felicity. They were brilliant live, Edwyn was a great front man, and hilariously funny

I had a bit too much man love for Edwyn truth be told.

The later single 'What Presence' is an absolute belter aswell.

Satellite City and Tender Object were always my favourites. Felicity too, and I Can't Help Myself.

I always liked the Blue Nile, too, on the subject of scots.

You only have to look at the position of Travis, Wet Wet Wet and the Bay City Rollers to discard that list!

As much as I like Idlewild how the fuck do they come in at no.3 and JMC at 19?

Proclaimers at 10 and no Yatsura?

The hibby vote must of been high.
