Every summer for the past sixty odd years I've dreamt we would start the new season with the wanted players on board, the unwanted off-loaded, and the league championship in our sights. There have been times, especially during the Souness debacle, I would have welcomed group-suicide participation, I'd rather go in a crowd than go alone thinking I was the only one in such misery.
