I remember the first programme I saw on him, he was trying to find a rare snake and got incredibly excited when he found the trail of the snake he was after, he turned to the camera with the expression of an excited schoolboy and declared...."Rat poo!" Had me pissing myself so days.

RIP

I was looking on a fansite of Irwin's and there's a petition been drawn up to rename Stingray's, they want them to be called Stingsteve's in respect of their fallen hero!

"Struth"

What a smashing bloke he was, really sad to hear that he's died, did so much good work for conservation in Austrailia, the world is a poorer place.

Shame like.

Feel sorry for his family and fans like.

What a cliche`d death though

I think it's a very rare way to die.

Well you know it is in general.

But in this context id say its cliche'd.

I think I know what you mean now, i.e. he died dealing with animals. Not sure I'd call it cliched though

RIP Steve Irwin, you were an immensely likable bloke with an infectious personality.

I've swam with stingrays on many occasions and always thought they were harmless. I guess not......

IIRC Stingrays in particular (as opposed to other types of Ray) have a barbed sting that they use when they are threatened. They normally lie half buried in sand and people often get stung when they step on one by mistake. I assume he was swimming/diving in shallow water when this happened and that's how it pierced his chest.
