KILLER MIKE - R.A.P. MUSIC is IT. I don't know how to define 'it' but it's the best thing released this year, hands down. I don't care what piss weak art pop bullshit Grizzly Bear throw out, Killer Mike has done it.

Also, Bryan Scary's "Daffy's Elixir" is the popular music done how the popular music should be these days; progressive, always changing and it fills a lovely Of Montreal shaped hole since Kevin Barnes has decided his songs don't need hooks, melodies or indeed, anything resembling songcraft, these days.

2012 hasn't been much cop but when it's hit, it's stayed hit.

Tim Hecker, too. Tim Hecker's Ravedeath is a sublime work. Last year but get about it if you've not heard it.

The new Maximo Park album is a good listen.

I didn't really like 'Quicken the Heart' so I didn't expect them to make another good one for some reason. First album was immense but they weren't really songs you could write again without sounding too obvious,
