"BERLIN (AP) - The IAAF has asked the South African athletics federation to conduct a gender verification test on 800-meter runner Caster Semenya amid concerns she does not meet the requirements to compete as a woman
The 18-year-old Semenya won the 800 final on Wednesday at the world championships in a world leading 1 minute, 55.45 seconds, beating defending champion Janeth Jepkosgei by a massive 2.45 seconds. Jennifer Meadows of Britain took bronze.
Olympic champion Pamela Jelimo was eliminated in qualifying.
The IAAF requested the gender test about three weeks ago, after Semenya burst onto the scene by slicing her personal bests in the 800 and 1,500 by huge margins."

He really did look the real deal and if he can keep it up Harper should be back in his favourite bench warming position. Good luck to the lad and I look forward to seeing him develop.

Also mentioned in a piece by Simon Barnes in the main body of the Times as well unfortunately. The seperate tribute section in the sports suppliment contains some great articles but I shook my head at the comments by Barnes.

Just watched it now and it just goes to confirm everything I thought about Sir Bobby, a true Geordie Gentleman and Legend.

I am a Blackburn fan but Sir Bobby transcended club rivalries, he was a true football man I'll be raising a glass to honour him tonight.
I cannot begin to imagine what he thought of what that fat clown Ashley has done to his beloved Toon.
