1. Well aye, but that doesn't mean mobility is a strong point of his game, does it?
2. No room for sentiment mate. Liverpoo got rid of Hoolia despite winning 5 trophies. The signs were there and this is one thing I do blame FS for, he wasn't ruthless enough. 99363 I don't think it's being sentimental to allow someone who took us from relegation fodder to a second consecutive top four finish, another season just because he had made some iffy decisions. What he had done before suggested he could get us back on track (especially as we were hardly off it in the first place). What was sentimental was allowing him to continue on the begining of the season after when he had allowed the team to fall well below the standards he had set and after he had shown that he had little idea of how to put things right. 99371 I'm not saying he made some 'iffy' decisions. Where do you get that from? What I'm saying is that the evidence on the pitch during the latter stages of that season showed that Robson could take the club no further. The following season proved it for god's sake. If the Chairman had recognised that and kept Robson on for the reason you state, then that IS sentment. Everybody I know believes that when we finished 3rd the performances generally were poorer than when we finished 4th the year before. Surely you remember that period? Everybody I spoke to on match days thought this, and people were banging on about it on nufc boards all over the shop at the time. 99378 maybe performances were slightly poorer, but we finished a place higher. you don't sack the manager after he's taken you up a place in the league unless you're real madrid. 99383 They were more than slightly poorer and there's no reason why the club can't change manager after finishing 3rd. If the ambition is to finish 1st and it's believed the current manager can take the club no further............ As I say, Liverpool won 5 trophies yet still sacked Hoolia. They wanted to move forward in the league, he wasn't the man and they recognised it.

No room for sentiment mate 2. Liverpoo got rid of Hoolia despite winning 5 trophies 3. The signs were there 4. this is one thing I do blame FS for, he wasn't ruthless enough. Just so I know, like.

5. And as anyone who can remember beyond the arrival of John Hall knows ( unless they have a selective memory, or something ), not every Chairman would do the same. How many times does it have to be said....nobody is saying FS is the best thing since sliced bread, or that he hasn't made mistakes. But he's not as bad as some appear desperate to make out ( god knows what their agenda is ), and we could do a whole lot worse. He backs his team manager, he gives them every chance to succeed but then it's down to them to make the right footballing decisions. They're paid well to do this and he doesn't tie their hands behind their back by selling our best players ( I can go back to Pop Robson ). If the manager got it right nobody would be slagging FS, but the pity of it is that people wouldn't be giving him any credit either. This is a fact, after all, FS was Chairman when Robson took us to 4th, 3rd and 5th, but that's ignored of course. 99347 I've highlighted the bit I posted earlier because you've either ignored it or didn't understand what I was getting at. Firstly your right not every chairman would make the funds available and as I said the clowns we had before Hall were just greedy and incredibly short sighted. But what is also important to understand is that we are now a PLC and as such the chairman of such a company cannot just rape it blind as he see's fit. He has shareholders (even if FS and Hall are the major one) and the city to answer to. As such his actions are under much more scrutiny and restriction. He has to act in the clubs best interests and therefore if he can make money available he must. Yet despite this he still manages to pay himself and Hall fantastic dividends every year so I'm sure he's quite happy taking what he is allowed out. As for why people don't like him I think I have just mentioned a big one and you can add his treatment of Sir Bobby, appointing Souness, the whole Spanish brothel incident and generally spending far too much time in front of the camera's sounding like a twat and making us look stupid! 99367 I understood clearly what you posted, the bit you highlighted wasn't the primary section I was responding to. Read the last part of the sentence again that includes the bit I highlighted. Other points. 1. I don't give a shite what dividend FS gets paid. It's a PLC, it's how they operate. 2. I don't give a shite what FS said in a brothel. As I've said before, we all say daft things in a brothel. 3. I generally don't feel stupid after anything Fred says, but I do feel stupid when I hear Shearer tell the country that Geordies want to win the FA Cup more than win the League.
6. Aye, and Ambrose and Woodgate the previous January. How many times.............. BTW Our current side is nowhere near as good as the one Robson produced.
7. Doesn't have to be like that though. See the previous comment about Liverpool. They won the CL I seem to recall.

9. Saw a couple of good passes from him the other day but I didn't see this mobility you're on about. What is this compared against?
10. Ok, how about I explain that it's a team game, you don't just pick your favourite players or leave out those you 'hate'. In a standard 4-4-2 one of the central midfielders must get beyond the strikers, neither Parker nor Emre do this naturally. Rob Lee was strong in the tackle but he still got forward into the box, one of those two has to start doing that. They may well be better footballers than Bowyer, but the balance is wrong. In my opinion, like.

12. Actually, I thought we were going backwards toward the end of the season we finished 3rd, and said so. That was the time to move Robson on and change it a bit, in order to make the next step forward.
13. Bellamy used to play like that every week. 98925 No he didn't. He was good, but he had his fair share of shite games too. 98952 Rubbish. Bellamy had the odd poor game, his level of consistency was very high for us.
14. Bellamy used to play like that every week. Shame there were people who insisted we were better off without him. Meaning also that if Bellamy were still here we wouldn't have missed Dyer in the slightest. 98925 some compare owen to bellamy, not a midfielder playing up front...however dyer done a good job filling in,wouldn't you agree leazes ? 98982 if we buy a replacement for shearer in the summer will you agree that owen was bellamys replacement ? 99008 Owen is an out and out goalscorer like Shearer, he is the replacement for Shearer. Bellamy is a supporting striker and we haven't replaced him. We need a replacement for Bellamy this summer. I'd like new player to be Bellamy, because he's top class.
15. George Bush is to blame, obviously.
16. As I said last time you posted 'head in the sand' drivel (almost every post, tbh).
17. Haway! I'll look after you, wont let the big nasty ginga bloke hurt you. 98204 Bloke! I'm even more scared now. I always thought Gem was a lass.
18. I won't. 98119 Awww, go on! 98173 Nah, too scared. You threatened me the other day remember, frightened me off tbh.
19. ...On him either committing the most fouls of any player on the pitch, or tripping over his own feet instead of moving, or jumping 5 minutes before the ball arrives, and you'd have been quids in. Doubt you'd get 6/1 though. 97540 Put it on Shola before I knew Shearer was out. Thought 6/1 was a decent price when I heard he'd be leading the line. Thought he was unlucky not to have popped one in in the first half. 97632 Should have scored early on, but as usual he was on his heels.
20. If we have to play a good team at some stage I'd rather it was Liverpool or Chelsea at home in the next round rather than on a neutral ground later, it'll be our best chance of beating either of them. Ideally though I'd like to see those two teams drawn away to the likes of Charlton and Bolton, 'cos they might turn them over. Home draw though is really all you can ask for in the last 8.

22. Head in sand time. Has to be said, you're a blind fool, Rob. Sorry like.
23. I won't state the obvious.
