I wouldn't mind seeing a Cacapa/Faye partnership with maybe Rozza in Butt's holding role as he's quick and is a good passer.
I think Rozenhal is a sweeper and would get found out in the middle of the park.
What you mean like butt has in the last few games?
I think that role is sweeperish in it's nature just in front of the back four.

We were certainly like jazzmen of the football pitch when we finished 11th in Sir Bob's first full season in charge.
Yes but at least we were playing good football, i'd rather be entertained and finish 11th than watch painful crap like we have the last few seasons.
At least you knew we were heading in the right direction as the 4th, 3rd, 5th places proved the following seasons.
I just hope Sam can prove us wrong but how many times have we said that in the last few years?
Playmakers should be his only concern in January and get some decent wingers as Milner and Zoggy do more bad things than good
To be fair to Matt, that first season under Robson was dirge. What makes you think we're not going to make strides over the next three seasons?
Err the shite i've witnessed since the start of the season!
And I remember Robson's 1st season and we played some good stuff overall, better than were playing at this point!

Hey i'd be happy as hell if i'm proved wrong but what i've seen so far is second rate stuff.
Some people have short memories then. Second rate compared to Arsenal, not so much compared to the football of the last two seasons.
We've been second rate to alot of teams other than Arsenal! Villa, Derby, Man C etc All have looked better organised, we've just ridden our luck.
I want to see good football from the off not the crap we've seen for the last 4 seasons, and I was hoping we'd see a big change but it's not arrived yet.
Look at Sven and how city are playing? Exactly the same situation as us, New owners , New manager and alot of new faces!
But you can already see how they are responding to his coaching and direction. Big Sam has brought in new faces but nothing new going forward from when Roeder was here.(In terms of quality service from the wide areas) Look at KK and Bobby both started off playing good stuff and they were here for the long term, Where Dalglish, Gullit, Souness, and Roeder's football did nothing to amaze me in the slightest and I think Sam's started in the same vein as them.

Spot on! If we had those two we'd be up challenging the top four no question! Just hope he can get that quality in January which is when the great players don't really want a move.

TBH I think he's right on the no difference to last season, as we didn't exactly play attractive football then and we have still yet to win a game convincingly this season! Infact we've been second best in nearly all our matches, but lucky things happened just when we needed them too.
Lets wait and see what impact Barton has, if it's huge then great Sams option's must have been limited, but if were still as sloppy as the rest of the games then the finger points straight at the management and coaching staff.

To think when we got those players in I thought great we've still got the likes of Solano and Dyer to provide the skill from midfield, makes me depressed just thinking about it.
We will get turned over a few times away from home this season, simply because we can't keep hold of the ball! Just present it back to the other side 9 times out of 10.
Sack the coaches it's them that's teaching them this long ball crap! You'd think we were still playing football in the 80's so Sam better get his finger out as the honeymoon period is well and truly over!

Petrov and Elano: exactly the type of midfield players we lack, you can stuff Geremi and Smith up your arse.
Especially Smith... both ends of the "Attacking Midfield" spectrum him and Elano.... Smith has just been stroling around all game.
Smith's been nonexistent, Butt's been atrocious (horrific tackle early on, and a deliberate foul on Petrov in front of the ref that surely merited a yellow) and yet the one time Geremi's looking vaguely decent, it's him comes off.
Big Sam's tactics as of late have been less than satisfactory, he must realize that buying the players is just the first step.

Think you could say that about most of our team! Butt and Smith stand out the most.
