  1. Why can't we find one good young defender like this kid? Steven Taylor has turned out bog average at best and the others we have groomed/signed (Ramage, Huntington, Edgar, Tozer, Kadar etc) have turned out to be complete shite. Our scouting network must be worst in the premiership. Maybe we haven't even got a network. Stories like this are just fookin' depressing for me...

If bog standard now means Premierleague, then aye...

  2. Ambani's not buying the club, he's too busy atm...

    2G Spectrum Scam Controversy

On 16 February 2011, Ambani was interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and is allegedly a suspect in the 2G spectrum scam.[18] Ambani was also jointly interrogated with the arrested and chargesheeted former telecom minister A Raja and the arrested and chargesheeted Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa on the same day at the CBI headquarters for over an hour as investigators tried to reconcile their individual claims about Swan Telecom, one of the biggest beneficiaries of the 2G specturm scam.[19]

On April 02, 2011, the CBI filed its first 80,000 page chargesheet in the 2G spectrum scam before a Special Court in Delhi naming nine individuals and three companies. It said the wrongful acts of the accused deprived the government exchequer of possible revenues amounting to INR Rs 30,985 crore (USD $ 6,983,322,233). [20]

On April 05, 2011, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Indian Parliament questioned Ambani about his company's stake in Swan Telecom on a day when a number of senior executives from various telcos faced tough questions in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.[21] Reportedly Ambani and the Unitech Wireless Chairman, Mr Sanjay Chandra, sidestepped and evaded key questions from the Public Accounts Committee on their alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.[22]

The CBI investigation into the 2G spectrum scam revealed that Ambani and wife Tina Ambani were the only two individuals with unlimited powers to transfer money and make payments for the seven Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) companies that have been under the CBI scanner for their links to the 2G scam-linked Swan Telecom. This testimony was provided by Amit Khot, deputy branch manager of ICICI Bank's Mumbai, Nariman Point branch, where these seven companies have their accounts. The CBI had submitted this testimony to the 2G spectrum scam trial court.[23]

    Just our luck!

  3. Apart from the likes of Stevie who wants to move with mates, would the wise thing not be to pay per view and then buy a part season ticket come November once you have seen how things have panned out.

If you wanted to be labelled a armchair fan, and a part-timer in the same season, then yes, do that.

  4. Its disgusting this. Feels like Krakow 1941 to me. We've lost the battle, but we'll win the war.

Upper tier of Leazes L4 behind the goal, back to me roots really that's where I was when the Leazes opened in 1993.

Everyone is moving to the strawberry corner, if we stick together this can still be a blessing in disguise, if your going to move I'd advise there. Just like Level 7 if we have the numbers we have the power, everyone get themselves to the strawberry corner.

I've sat there for Cup games. It's all sorted now anyway. Level 4 Behind the goal Row R Seat 46 that'll dee. Just literally 10 feet under the away fans.

The kid on the phone said it's all gonna be seats for the Newcastle United Foundation? Fuck knows what that means.

We've been moved to the Leazes level 4 middle row Y seats 46-48 or some bollocks like that, but we're thinking about ringing them back up and trying to move to either the Gallowgate or SE Corner like.

He's finished, and so is my patience with him, shouldn't be playing for us again next season.

Have to admit he's one hell of a penalty taker though, did he ever miss one?

    ---

He's only ever missed one (I think). But I could be making that up.

Missed one in a friendly once, think Souness was in charge. He's never missed one competitively, though.

MPs continued their inquiry into football governance by taking evidence from the former chief executive of the Football Association on 22 March 2011.

The inquiry is looking at the governance of professional football clubs, over concerns that football supporters of clubs across the country are poorly served by current football club regulations.

At an earlier session, the former chair of the Football Association (FA), Lord Triesman, criticised the organisation for failing to regulate the sport.

MPs are investigating the possibilities of giving greater involvement to supporters in the decision-making processes.

Sports minister Hugh Robertson recently described football as the country's worst-run sport.

The coalition agreement, drawn up after last year's general election, pledges to encourage the reform of governance rules to support the co-operative ownership of clubs by supporters.

    Evidence was also taken from:

    • Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the League Managers Association

    • Martin O'Neill, former manager of Aston Villa

    • Steve Coppell, former manager of Reading

  7. The increased away tickets are indeed due to having to comply with Premier League regulations, the minimum they can offer being 3,000. The reason the maximum away capacity is now 4,000 is simply for evening matches where it's on TV, and they feel they won't sell the stadium out, so they can offer more to away fans and hopefully make more money. In games like the Sunderland matches, they'll definitely not be given to the away team.

I don't get that bit as normally at night matches the away fans normally bring up about half compared to 3pm, unless it's 5:15 KO's but even that's only once a season or summit.

Fair enough if the extra space gets offered to cash turnstiles but to me that's not what the quote implies.

  8. The atmosphere is always shite when we have a Saturday afternoon 3pm kick off, nobody seems to be arsed.

Unless there's a bit of Geordie injustice, or something miraculous happens like the Arsenal game.

I was just gonna say that. Even the cracks not as good, and a 1245 is even worse. I love night games me, and I particularly love the 515/530 games on a cold winters night, atmosphere usually immense. Read somewhere we haven't won a top flight game at home for 3 and a half years that has kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday. Mental.

And thats just in the Premiership, we did in the Championship...
