A lot of University courses have end of year parties. They involve staff and students socialising, music, drinking. A little naff, a little shambolic, but celebratory and fun, and a time where you can forget about work, etc.

 

However, the University of Edinburgh's Informatics department goes even further, with a THREE DAY SPECTACULAR; The School of Informatics Annual Jamboree! This features talks on subjects such as:

 

Computational Maps in the Visual Cortex, On Basing One-Way Functions on NP-Hardness, Probabilistic Methods for Scientific Images. Applications in fMRI., and The Wonders of Statistical Machine Translation!

 

There is even a poster contest, featuring entries like:
