  1. This has been pretty big in the news over here - the story goers that he knew it was on the banned list, applied for an exemption to use it and the application, which took some months to come through, was eventually granted.

To suggest Stan the Man is a drug cheat is ludicrous - surely the authorities have bigger fish to fry? Weren't there a few Italian players busted using cocaine recently?

  2. The following article is from Brisbane's Courier-Mail - no link as I copied it out

    Moore Putting Out Feelers

The likelihood that Socceroos defender Craig Moore will be wearing an orange Queensland Roar jersey later this year has increased to “30 per cent” according to Frank Farina who had a “text-versation” with the Newcastle United defender.

“He sent me a text wishing us luck for the finals and he indicated to me that he is keen to come here to the Roar if he does return to Australia this year,” Farina Said.

“There is dialogue there. We are interested, of course, but it all depends if Newcastle makes him an offer for next season.”

With just four months remaining in the English Premier League season, it’s unlikely Moore will have his deal with United renewed for the 2007-08 season, leaving him free to link with the Roar.

Queensland are also believed to be in talks with ex-Socceroo and Leicester City midfielder Danny Tiatto.

What must be kept in mind is that Queensland "coach" Frank Farina is a media whore, and also that while utterly incompetent, the former national coach has strong ties with his former charges...

Sounds to me that far from choosing to come home to Australia Moore is deemed surplus to requirements and will be allowed to leave on a free. And to think they gave Bumble a new contract

  3. Most things point to a sneaky away win tbh.

...the fact that West Ham have not scored in nine successive away games in the Premiership - 888 minutes tbp.

Exactly, Newcastle are always the fall guy in these situations! WHU will score tomorrow, i'm certain of it.

    Hope you're wrong.

Btw, looks like they'll play with Harewood and Sheringham in attack. Zamora and Tevez isn't in the squad.

Zamora is suspended and Tevez injured. :(

West Ham view of things, see you tomorrow:-

    Good read that

    You having a laugh?

i've just printed it out and had the pleasure of a shite and wiped my arse with it.

No. I enjoy reading what other fans think of us before we play them.

Yup - I'm very much the same, and that article was fairly balanced and reasonable. I mean, I don't go for all the Roeder bashing, but I guess they they have their reasons... I have to say the following amused me:

This despite a much reported absence of first team players and the need to blood several products of their youth academy. A selection of those currently queuing up outside the physio’s room include strikers Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi, defenders, Celestine Babayaro, Oliver Barnard and Craig Moore, mistake prone liability, Titus Bramble and midfielders, Charles N’Zogbia, Scott Parker, Damien Duff and Emre. That should take care of most of the players that you’ve heard of; let’s have a look at their likely line up.

Bramble worthy of being mentioned twice?

  4. I have to say I've always been a huge Romario fan, but that vid highlighted why he failed so miserably in the diabolically poor Australian League - the searing pace he used to scorch past defenders has deserted him... And while he still has speed of thought and excellent technique it proved of little use to him in a fast and very physical league...

Oh, and the small matter that virtually all of the goals on that vid were created by intelligent through balls wouldn't have helped him here - Australia has produced maybe two or three creative players in the last 20 years!

  5. :) Get in Alan! How soft are the Aussies man?

Any excuse to rag on the Aussies, eh Gemmill? Pity he's a New Zealander :D

All the same to me, mate. :( They've just got a slightly worse accent.

It appears I spoke in a piqued fit of parochialism - the incident happened in Australia but only came to light during the NZ leg...

That being said, there's no need to lump us in with the Kiwis - we could always retort by calling the English Welshmen or Scots :D

  6. Good for us.

Aye, good for the Toon, but I'm shattered I won't be able to give him a farewell from the Socceroos

Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face - replacing Craig Moore with Jade fucking North?!? Not happy Jan!

  7. Prefer him to stay on Tyneside then play in Brisbane and Sydney against some probably average sides. We need him fit, imagine if he got injured....

You're just pissed off because they're not playing out in the West  Whereas I'm delighted I get to see a full strength Australian team in Brisbane

Besides, marking Roque Santa Cruz isn't exactly a light jog in the park...

  8. Whether you wanted them or not, if you have lemons, make lemonade, don't leave them unused on the kitchen table until they go rancid.

In other words, Roeder should be looking at ways to involve Luque more. Try to get some bang for our (millions of) buck(s).

To extend your analogy, if your lemons are rotten, use them for compost ie play him in the reserves...

  9. I might be on drugs or something but i think we can win at OT. Dont ask me why but i think it is the Luque factor or maybe the Martins factor. Either way we will win for some reason and if we lose.... it happens.

    Martins and Sib up front

Martins dropping back to run at their defence. I have actually never seen a Newcastle game yet this year in Australia and i dont think this game will be on so i cant see how fast Martins is.

We're NOT on telly here - Fox have chosen to go with Tottenham v Portsmouth - no excuse for missing v Everton or v Liverpool mind

As for the "Luque factor" - while he will be doubtless be on the bench I hope to God that's where he remains for the whole 90 minutes...

  10. we may as well have a go. if we try and defend for 90 minutes we're going to get hammered.

    i'd go with:

    ---------------harper

    carr-----taylor-----moore----n'zogbia

    milner--parker----emre------duff

    ---------martins----shola

    Spot on!

    Switch N'Zogbia and Duff.

 The Zog is no defender...

  11. It's quite amazing that our £9,5m-man Albert Luque didn't make the bench today, but loanee and manyoo-player Guiseppe Rossi did... hmmm :good:

What's the status on Bernard? Will he be fit to play next sunday?

You could argue that Rossi offered more in 10 minutes than Luque has in 14 odd months...

But don't worry, Luque will be on the bench for the UEFA Cup match and the trip to Old Trafford, so we might be afforded another opportunity to see his "skills"

  12. Sorry, to even get close to suggesting Craig Bellamy was a great Newcastle player is absurd.

Milburn, Shearer, Beardsley and even someone like Robert Lee can be regarded as such but putting Bellamy in that bracket is nonsense. He was good but never better than that. PB was also twice the player CB will ever be. It really is that simple.

So tell me, who do you think the badge kissing CB thinks about more? Himself or the club I am told he loves? Not too many people are falling for the lines you seem to be anymore. Cant recall PB dancing in front of us when he returned with Liverpool kissing the badge, can you? Once a turd, always a turd. (him not you). Ad enormously overrated at that. Good player, nowhere near great.

Hear hear - I feel Bellamy was an important part of a quality Newcastle team, but to suggest he was a "great player" is going a bit far. For mine, he ranks below the likes of Speed and Cole in modern times, let alone the acknowledged club greats...

I hesitate to involve myself in this debate as I know the consequences, but I have two questions for you LeazesMag:

    1) You have stated that performances on the pitch are all that counts - does it follow that the way a player carries himself in the dressing room and training pitch is therefore irrelevant? Surely this is where team unity is made or broken - I'm not suggesting that all players must be bosom buddies, but surely there needs to be a unity of purpose and direction to succeed?

    2) It is "generally believed" that Shepherd brought Souness in as a reaction to Robson "losing the players" ie as a reaction to the perceived ill discipline he brought in a "disciplinarian" manager. Do you accept this theory, and if so does it not follow that rather than supporting Souness' heavy-handed attempts to reign in ill-disciplined players, Shepherd actually facillitated it?

  13. Duff on paper. Parker on grass.

Good call - Parker may not be the most technically gifted player we have, but his work rate, commitment, tackling and tenacity are phenomenal... In a team that can't hold the ball and are almost always losing the 'posession battle' he shines.

Am I the only one who thinks Duff is showing a disturbing complacency, a lack of willingness to extend himself and play to the best of his (admittedly good) abilities?

  14. Bellamy is a tool, but McDermott deserved it for the shit he came out with about Bellamy.

Sounded entirely plausible given the way he has gone about his life really.

Everyone knows Bellamy loves us though :good:

He is odious and Terry mac has far more affinity for the club than that little prick ever will.

Know which one was the better player as well and it wasnt the runted little cock who does what is best for himself (in the ever so self-important third person)

Just another episode in his own little dream land.......

Never known so much bollocks spouted about one player by fans who see him as the sole reason we did well. Nowt to do with Alan Shearer scoring another 20+ or Gary Speed etc.

Scores loads of goals though - everyone tells me he does anyway.

51 in his top flight pro career so far by the age of 27.

Good player but enormously overrated by too many. Couldnt kick the likes of Peter Beardsleys arse.

Will get nowt but antipathy from me and judging by last night, many others will give him far more than that.

    Rightly so.

Super post - pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter too. Odious person, overrated player...

  15. Emre s an awesome player, MOM again imo yeserday and i can't understand his critics at all.

Other than Given whom i assume is injured, the team should remain the same for liverpool, i'd have taylor on the bench, not sure why he wasn't yesterday?

The story goes that the injury he suffered playing for the U21's hadn't sufficiently cleared up...

  16. Injuries allowing got to be the same for me, except Harper in for the injured Given.

Subs bench on Sunday we had:

    HARPER

    BUTT

ZOGGY (should be in the team but can't drop anyone after Sunday, bring him on at some point though)

    ROSSI

THE SIB (Looking quite good imo if Shola's struggling bring him on)

On Wednesday i'm thinking Krul on the bench for Harper and Taylor should be on there too for Rossi imo! Rossi should be played in our next UEFA game (at least 45 mins).

Under the terms of his loan Rossi is ineligible to play in Europe...

  17. Any chance of a Keane led Sunderland versus a Shearer led Newcastle in a few years?

I can see Roeder getting the sack and Big Al taking over, but I cant see Sunderland coming up by then

If you believe the scare-mongers, such a meeting is more likely to happen in the Championship...
