35k was our capacity in 97 like.

I work in Manchester and I like the Man City fans, they had really good attendances in the second and first division imo

Cheers pal, I didn't take that into account, however it doesn't matter what attendances you had before..... FFS even teams like Brighton and Bournemouth (no disrespect meant) sing it to us! Everyone will forget what happened before you had money, in fact Newcastle will only have history from the point of takeover. Forget the trophies you have won before....they don't exist.

The old "Big 4" don't know how to handle being overtaken with the exception of Chelsea. And they control the media so you get it from all angles. But  I wouldn't swap it for anything….just enjoy the ride and hopefully you can challenge for the title with us. Be great to see you overtake United & the Dippers and watch the frothing at the mouths :)

The difference being we averaged 51k "when we were shit" and in the Championship. In 1997, Man City averaged 27k in the Championship ;)

I knew someone would say that, conveniently forgetting the 16k average you had in 1990?! And in the 1997 you averaged 35k in the prem. I went through the full 35 years of winning nothing and still went in the bad days, so I am can vouch for the hardcore support we continued to have during that period. Yes we now have an additional 10k match going fans from our pre-takeover average in 2008. They are largely made up of fans who picked and choosed previously which games they attended rather than tourists.

All I am saying is get your tin hats on, especially if you end up overtaking the established elite. That is when the press go full pelt on you for daring to overtake their darlings

  3. All I would say on the proposed purchase by The Sheik is that when Mansour bought us, there was never any indication they were even looking to buy us. It was just announced one morning, I would view the publicity as worrying as this isn't how they go about their business.

Hope it is true though as it will be great to see another set of fans go through what we have lived for the last 10 years. Just get ready for the "where were you when you were shit" songs followed by the accusation that you only became fans in 2019!

I thought we'd hyped it up too much to get a result, and fair play to them they're the best team in that league by a distance. Fuck knows how Chelsea have done better in Europe, they're so solid. I was so nervous before the game I was physically sick, walking up that road adjacent to the East Stand with the orange building on either side. We did ok, I just would've liked to have seen us attack and bit more but it's a catch 22 against them, Man Utd and Spurs attacked them and got beat 1-6, worthy champions, and Kompany is as good a centre half as English football has seen for two decades, what a player, can't think of one thing he struggles with. Seems a good bloke too, and his crack about us being one of THE best sides and clubs in English football was excellent. He's right though. Lots to be proud of, I mean you've got "Willo" a £1m defender against a twin £65m Argentinian world wide star strike force, and he didn't do bad.

The Man City fans on here have been very gracious and good crack, but their fans after the game. What a fucking set of arseholes. Arrogance was unbelievable. It's their first title in 80% of their supports life time. I'm not a fighter but I did well not to start in the pub like. These cunts right, skinny little rodent mugs, and their pal who looked like Keith Lard, on at me saying they deserved Mansour more than we did cos we used to get 10,000 every season. Was like red rag to a bull, so I reeled off everything you can imagine about their shit club, from 400 away supports here, to 3,000 gates in the FA Cup, they soon shut the fuck up. Apparently we'll be back in midtable next season too. The one thing I said that wound them up the most was they're nothing special and had Mansour bought a non league club they could've won the title. It's a fact. The most plastic club on earth, far more so than Chelsea, at least Chelsea were a biggish club competing for the top four under Bates, Man City have had about five good seasons league wise in their entire fuckin history. Massively hope QPR fluke it next week.

To be honest I spoke to loads of your fans after the game and would hope I didn't come across as arrogant. Yes we were on top of the world, who wouldn't, but I wished you all the best and a genuinely want you to finish 3rd. Can you expand on this 3 k FA Cup attendance? Followed us for 20 years and I don't remember it!

  5.

Hmph well it's your style, and if you take that as a compliment you're a mug. *half hearted apology right here*

I've not slept poorly here like probably 4 hours sleep, had a joint to help me doze off as well, feel nervy and sick. We usually lose when I build games up like this, but what a game we have today. WHAT A FUCKIN GAME. In a Premiership sense, we don't play bigger games than this, like ever without being title challengers. I don't even accept that Villa in 2009 was bigger than this. It might sound arrogant, but in my eyes we are a far bigger club than anyone who went down since Man Utd did in 1974. Man City, Tottenham, Leeds, West Ham, Villa (88), Sheff Wed etc... I knew we'd come back up, was terrible, but this could be a pivotal game in the next five or six years in my view. If we win today, we'll have one foot in the Champions League. There's nee way Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea will not improve, they've all been shit by their standards. The key thing is the toon, we have some top class players, we qualify for the Champions League, it would be madness even for that fat cunt, to have a firesale. The CL money will give us the opportunity to get ourselves where we used to be, in the top 15 richest clubs in the world, retain our best players and keep building so this season has a legacy rather than some sort of Everton style fluke. That's how big today is.

I think it's winnable, they've had some amazing away results 6-1 at Norwich, and Man Utd, 5-1 at Tottenham, but by the same token they've lost at the blue dippers, the mackems, Chelsea, Liverpool, and in Europe against shite like Sporting Lisbon they struggled. They're a fantastic side when you look through them

Hart - very decent (best young keeper in Europe my cock though, he's nee Krul)

Zabaleta - competent (not the best RB in the league)

Clichy - see above but LB

Kompany - head and shoulders the best centre half in the Barclays Premier League

Lescott - errors do come in to his game but he's nee Boumsong

Silva - top class, but hasn't reached his early season heights

Y Toure - one of the best in the world when he's in the mood

Nasri - class, but hot and cold at times

Barry - like a tortoise, positionally he's excellent, but he's nee Tiote, get in to the shit cunt

Tevez - class but he's nee Shearer

    Aguero - great first season

Clearly they're a good side, but.........imo they're nee where near Arsenal of 2004 or Man Utd of 2008, or even Chelsea of 2005. They're beatable, people might laugh at this but their greatest asset is Mancini, when his lass is away he probably pulls himself over tactical formations. They're extremely well organised, but SJP can rock any team, and if we worry about we can and can't do then we've got a chance. Cisse 8/1 very generous by the way. BIGGEST GAME FOR YEARS, a draw is nee good to anyone apart from Man Utd, we just need to tactically compete, and keep it tight then chuck the kitchen sink at them last 20 minutes.

    Not the best as above.

    But CHAMPIONS.

Thank you though as you were brilliant with us in the Leaze stand. Quality fans and good luck at Everton.

  6.

Aye worth a shot mate. Stonesthrow from ground . Kinda 'neutral' boozer in my experience.

Bit compact mind. You'll have to split up to get in .

    Cheers fella.

From the looks of some of the posts above I reckon we might be in for a hard time in your end! Oh well, if we do manage to scrape the 3 points it will be worth it!

Can I just point out though. You boys have been in exactly the same position as us. Relegation, no trophies etc. and yes we dropped lucky with the Sheikh. But it could have been you. He asked 4 premier league teams to pitch for the investment. We ultimately won because of the available land to develop and because Manchester is easier to access. Villa lost out because of the land around the stadium. Spurs lost because of the stadium redevelopment costs. You didn't win because of Ashley doubling his asking price. You were neck and neck but fucked it with his price.

If the boot was on the other foot I would wish you all the best as it would mean them red bastards weren't having it all their own way. As we did with Chelsea. One day it WILL happen to you and I hope it does.

Anyway have a great day tomorrow, but not too good!

  7.

    I really don't believe you.

No probs mate. I was just interested to read earlier in the thread that you didn't believe City fans would go in your end, and thought I would share what we were doing.

Any ideas on a pub for after our game to watch the Swansea - United game? Want to watch it before heading back to Manchester.

  8.

    You paid £40?

Bollocks mate. Why wouldn't you just get them in your own end so far in advance'?

We knew it would probably come down to this game and that we wouldn't have enough loyalty points to get tickets in our end. Put yourself in our shoes. Potential title decider and the only way to see it is go in the City end. Might cost you 40 quid to join the City membership scheme but you would get to see you beloved Newcastle win the league. Exactly. No brainier isn't it and that is why we'll be sat in your end.

  9.

There won't be one Man City fan in our end, it amazes me who they think they are, and who they think we are. Any away fans in the Leazes or Gallowgate  and if they are they'll be keeping a lower profile than Gary Glitter in the nick.

me and 4 mates joined your membership at the turn of the year. We are in the Leazes end. Won't be wearing colours or being nobs but can assure you that we won't be the only City fans in you end. There are also a group of 10 I know who booked a box a while back.
