  1. In a recent job interview I was asked how i would perform under pressure? I thought for a moment and said that i didn’t know all the words to that one, but I could have a good bash at Bohemian Rhapsody"

  3. A duck walks into a bar and asks the bartender, “Do you have duck food here?” The bartender says no and the duck leaves. The next day, the same thing happens. The duck wanders in and asks, “Do you have any duck food?” Once again, the nonplussed bartender says no and the duck leaves. On the third day, the duck enters the bar and the bartender asks, “What do you want this time?” The duck asks once more, “Do you have any duck food?” “No!” yells the bartender. “We don’t have any duck food. If you come back and ask me again, I’ll nail your feet to the floor!” The duck leaves and comes back the next day and asks, “Do you have any nails?” The bartender says, “No.” .....The duck then asks, “Do you have any duck food?”

  7. The Leazes Tavern was on the corner of Leazes Lane and Crescent Place, Leazes Mews is now built on that site. ( the photo i posted was from 1964) I've had a bit of an internet search and I found it was very near to where the Trent House is now. Someone also wrote this about it... "The Leazes Tavern may have been part of Richard Grainger's developments in that area, it was offered to let in October 1843 and particulars of the property could be had from his office on Clayton Street. It had been in the occupation of George Nelson, "in which an excellent trade has been carried out for a number of years". The earliest reference I can find to it is in June 1830, when a house was offered to let in Leazes Crescent, with applicants invited to contact Mr Thompson at the Leazes Tavern. In June 1835 the pub was also offered to let by the Sun Brewery, Quayside, and again by them in 1840. According to trade directories, it was owned or run by Joseph Thompson at 29 Leazes Crescent in 1833, and in Whites directory of 1847 there's a Leazes Tavern at that address run by Alice Robertson. The address given in Wards of 1865 is "2 Crescent Place, and 29 Leazes Lane", and Kelly's of 1883 gives the same address. Wards of 1898 has it at 29 Leazes Crescent."

  13. Some Auf Wiedershen Pet trivia........ When the Berlin wall was pulled down by German citizens, a British journalist found some interesting graffiti. It read "Built by Germans, demolished by Oz". Soon after the series began transmission, Newcastle United played at home to Liverpool. The fans began to chant "Oz is harder than Yosser!" "Bomber" (Pat Roach) was absent from several episodes in season one, as Roach was away filming scenes for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), which was also being shot at Elstree Studios. In the first series there is a non speaking eighth member of the hut. Val McLane (Norma) and Jimmy Nail are real life brother and sister. Soon after the second series ended, Tyne Tees Television produced an AIDS awareness show in the form of a mini episode. Tim Healy and Jimmy Nail reprised their roles in Educating Oz (1986), a 25-minute show. Timothy Spall was born and raised in London despite playing "Barry" from the West Midlands. Whereas, Pat Roach, who played "Bomber" from Bristol, is from Birmingham. The filming in Germany (in the cities of Hamburg and Düsseldorf) for the entire first series only actually lasted for ten days. Before shooting in the UK began, the cast were sent on a practical bricklaying course.
