  1. Great to see someone not bowing down to sponsor and locog pressures to pick someone purely to boost revenues. Good curevball Psycho.

No doubt he (Beckham) will still be hanging around like stale fart trying to steal limelight during it instead of playing for his contracted club in the MLS whilst the tournament is on.

  2. Just bought some Hoegaarden in Asda as it says "Belguims best wheat beer and Asda dont sell Erdinger.

Not as nice as Erdinger :(

Is Erdinger the best Wheat beer or is there a better one out there.

I think Weihenstephan and Franziskaner are nicer, more like Erdinger than Hoegaarden.

The former comes in a bottle with a green label. Not available everywhere but is in some supermarkets, Asda Gosforth being one. ws_prod_kristall.jpg

The latter you can get in Tesco Kingston Park: franziskaner-hefe-weisse-beer-online-1317020367.jpg

The Schneider Weiss brewery also makes some fine weisse biers, only place I can think of that sells them is Rehills in Jesmond though.

Could drink Wheat beer until the cows come home like, absolutely adore the stuff.

  3. That Brew Dog pub has opened on Dean Street now (on the corner next to Surtess Hotel, it's been a few restaurants down the years). I used to go as a bairn when it was the Italian Job. It featured in the film Stormy Monday (as Wee Gees). Bit of naff movie trivia there.

    heard mixed reviews...

one mate said its bollocks (asked for a bottle of larger - cost 6 quid)

another mate said its THE bollocks (great booze apparently)

It's expensive if you don't get Brewdog stuff as it's all imported/random bottles from all over. Not a place to go unless you're into your ales/fancy dan shit. Was £3.70 for a pint of Punk IPA, very nice it was too.

Got pinball and board games and all that n all.

  4. Food at the Welly has gone downhill since it became Chef & Brewer. If you're wanting a good food pub round that neck of the woods try the Manor House, Feathers & The Rat Inn.

To those who menionted the Boathouse, The Bull further up in Wylam is canny too.

  5. I've not been but I'd have though you'd want a fair wedge of coin for your spending money over there. It's not cheap anyway and there is a never ending list of things to do.

Be worth every penny mind but you'd probably be better off somewhere off and having a shorter break if finances are tight.

Worth looking into flying in to one airport / out on another too, works out more or less the same price if it's with the same airline e.g. KLM/Air France from NCL

  6. How much cash do you think I'd need to if me and a couple of mates wanted to tour New York/Philli/Boston/Washington for 2 weeks in October/early November?

not bothered about staying in fancy hotels, hostels would do

    Assuming you're from UK.

    Flights = £350-400

    14 nts at £20 hostel bed = £280

Plus all your travel when you're there and you're spending money.

  7. servicaixa.es should sell tickets. I bought Atletico ones off there. Tickets become more available closer to the time though.

Stay in or around the Sol / La Latina / Opera triangle of Metro stops.

    Enjoy, it's a lush place.

  8. Big, big fan of Argentine football like even if the standard is for the most part erratic as best.

Clausura last year was dire, do you think Racing will progress now that Simeone has left? His football was far too cautious. Can you keep Gio y Teo?

Would love to go back to Argentina and visit The Cilindro, heard many say it's the best for atmosphere over there.

    Until then, Dale Tomba!

  9. Last night was like some weird parallel universe where Cabaye was poor, Guthrie great, Krul occasionally sloppy without paying the price & Guti a defensive hero. The towel thing was hilarious.

If Ba to Stoke actually broke down due to money hopefully the knee knack claims are rubbish - he sure had no problem twisting & turning on the defensive line yesterday.

Overall a proper team performance - even by Obertan.

    Getting excited about Saturday already.

given how bitter stoke seem about Ba not signing for them I have a feeling the knee was an excuse on their part if he came and wasnt impressed enough to sign

harsh on Krul there tbh, he had no real saves to make and against stoke he had to command his area a lot against some big strong bullies and he did so admirably, as well as any other keeper could've tbh, he dropped one ball which he shouldnt have but thats it really, always did enough otherwise

I think you're giving the Stoke fans more powers of reasoning than they deserve there. The booing was stupid but that's football tbh. He nearly signed for them and didn't, therefore he was the villain of the piece for the night. Of course he shut the fuckers up in the best way possible.

These are the same neanderthals that boo and jeer Aaron Ramsey for having the cheek to get his leg snapped in half by one of their thugs.

  10. Makes you think, if Brazil, with one of the top 10 (I think) economies in the world and a massive labour force has problems, how the fuck are Qatar gonna do it with so few people and all these ventilation shit they have to add

Lack of mass corruption, inifinite funds plus the old cheap labour from further East will probably help the Arabs.

Looking at a lot of the Brazillian ones they're redone bowl designs which I'm not much a fan of.

  11. How long a Toon Fan :

Since football began (in 1992) and I was 6/7 onwards

    Why the Toon :

All my family are Toon daft, local club, etc etc.

    Location :

    NE3

    Toon Games been to :

    About 300 I reckon.

Where we have been / are going :

Unless something seriously changes in football/Mike Ashleys brain we'll never scale the heights we did in the 90s. Playing to get into the UEFA Cup via the league and domestic competitions is the best we can hope for in the short to medium term future. On the flipside, a few daft decisions could easily see us back down in the CCC.

Kudos to CabayeAye for remembering the Keegan appointment despite being fresh out his ma.
