  1. Something I saw last week which may be of interest.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/05/22/ir35_tax_revenues/

I've recently gone the ltd comp route. My accountant has advised that rather than taking minimum wage from the company and the rest of dividends (which HMRC will not like) pay a sensible salary and take a dividend once or twice a year.

That way, you're less likely to be investigated.

The extra 2.50 an hour will have to go towards paying the extra contributions you make as a ltd company, namely Employers NI contributions and corporation tax.

  2. Thanks for the post. Might go for the EB's and will deffo bulk buy. The strings that are on the strat now have seen better days and the G and B strings seem to have gone very black already. I clean the neck and strings after each time I play but remember those strings weren't as shiny as the rest when I recieved the guitar.

Plus I've got a problem with rattle on those same strings (although thats probably more likely to be down to me). Think I'll change them as soon as I get them.

  3. T-Keith - 3bitbob mentioned you advised him on which guitar to buy and he went and bought one - not long after I bought my first guitar, a fender strat.

I've practiced with it every day since november and I'm getting better day by day - he hasn't touched his guitar for 2 weeks. tsk tsk.

Anyway, i need some spare strings but cant find anywhere on the net that will tell me exactly what kind it needs.

I'm looking for Fender Super Bullets as this is what it came with. Its a 2007 (I think) Mexican Strat with Maple neck. Any Ideas which gauge I need for the guitar.

    TIA

  4. the thing with most blokes is that they often fancy a bit of something different. My mrs is brunnette so I sort of have a thing for blondes at the moment. So I can see where Mr Cole is coming from. And into.

  5. my back fence blew down and lost a few tiles off the roof - rang the insurance company this morning and they told me there were no storms in my area last night so wont be sending anyone out. Time for an argument methinks as this is the 2nd time they've tried this line.

  6. Bought a pair of trainers online from Office and the delivery company they use is UPS who have proved fucking useless in this instance.

They tried to deliver them on Friday last week but no-one was in so they left a note saying they'd try again on Monday but couldn't say what time. So I rang them on Monday and said no-one would be in and gave them my work address and mobile number with instructions to ring me when the delivery bloke got here and I would walk down and pick them up seeing as he couldn't get on site where I work.

So the daft bastard decided not to ring me this morning when he turned up and instead handed them to the security guards who have in turn put them in the DWP internal mail!!!

Now our internal mail is absolutely shite these days and stuff regularly goes missing so I'm not holding out much hope that htese trainers will turn up before the weekend if at all.

So I'm gonna be keeping a close eye of the messengers in my building to see if any of them are sporting a fancy new pair of Adidas and then knock them the fuck out should one of them have them on!!

If your at BPV you can ring building 8 and see if they have them - you might be able to collect them. Although to be honest, you have more chance of catching the Queen in the act curling one out before ever seeing them again.

  7. If you are changing your address and phone number the transfer will take approx 10-15 days. If you are changing address and keeping the same number the transfer takes approx 15-20 days. These times are set by BT as the transfer involves a BT engineer visiting your local exchange.

Straight of the Tiscal (read shite service provider) website although like it says, its BT who dictate this.

  8. more likely to be a dead motherboard. If he has managed to get 2 of the pins to fuse together or even plugging the mouse in when its powered up can do this. Do you get any beeps when turning the machine on or does it just power up with nothing else (fans whirring, hard disks spinning up but nowt else?)

If it is the motherboard, its a major pain in the tits to diagnose.

Try switching it on with everthing except the monitor disconnected and post back here what happens.

  9. Cheers... not missed much then.

not a lot - almost as if the 5 mins they gave us was a token gesture. Spent as much time talking about big Al coming back here as they gave to footage of the game.

  10. Can't be arsed doing the sums but it will probably work out at approx the same game by game price as full season tickets (mine in Milburn L7 was £598 at last years prices, would've been £612ish(?)) if I'd renewed later.

If you want to renew and go elsewhere just write to the box office at renewal time and they should be able to move you.

How come those seats are more expensive though - the last time I was up there it felt like I was in orbit - I could almost see my house!

Don't know but personally I love the view - yeah it's damn high up and the stairs are an arse but I generally claim it's my exercise for the fortnight. Plus you get a perfect view of the game - though I'm not a fan of sitting low down - and if the game is shit you get a lovely view of the city. Do it....

Reet thats it - "Hello, is that the box office? Good, hang on a sec I've lost my inhaler"

    Gonna ring them on Monday.

Wor Lass is gonna have my nuts.

  11. If Keegan can get Owen to stay it'll be a monumental feat. It pains me that there is so much skepticism around Owen, both from the media and the fans. There seems to be a reluctance to chant his name if he scores, or praise him. He can get so much better and under Keegan he probably will. He might even begin to justify that price tag.

If Keegan can get the team to play ball after ball after ball to him, and he starts to put them away in the manner we know he is capable of, that boy could become a legend round here.

  13. worst acting I have ever seen in a death scene

Missus said exact same thing - she watches all the soaps religiously. Corrie is the only one I can stand to be in the same room with as it occasionally has the odd humerous line in it. And the fit bird that used to be in dream team.

  14. Now into the second Simon Scarrow "Eagle" book. Seems like this historical fiction lark is the only thing I can get into - which is wierd cos I hate history . Then again I love science fiction movies but hate books on the subject.

  15. Is it worth it? They state on the club website that there are 1/2 season tickets available for Milburn L7 for 300 quid.

I've been up there before to watch us get turned over by spurs and it was crap (good few years ago now though). With all the hype of the last few days, my spendahollic wallet and credit card are both saying "go go go" but 300 sheets seems a bit excesive for 9 games and a view that requires binoculars.

I have been totally disinterested in watching the boys anywhere other than in the house over the last few years but now that KK is back I want to watch them again from the only place that matters.

Plus I dont know how the season ticket situation works - I dont want to buy one if it turns out that come august I can only renew my current seat over having the chance at a slightly more oxygen friendly location ( I smoke, am fat and don't exercise)

    You're thoughts folks are welcome.
