  1. There's a similarity in their styles of play
  2. The fact is I don't support Sunderland!!!!! I was a Newcastle fan but I don't like the direction the club is going.....Big Sam Allardyce is almost as bad as Roeder and half of Roeder's 1st choice team was on the treatment table. The midfield is usually where a game is won or lost and it's the midfield that is letting u guys down....Geremi was a RB at Madrid and at Chelsea he was essentially a squad player who alternated btw RB and RM. He filled in adequately when called upon but he was always a bit one paced. He was quite influential at Boro but that was quite a few years ago and right now he looks old and slow. I really don't undersand the rationale behind buying Geremi or Barton when a player like Bouba Diop was available who was begging to leave Fullham for a club with top 5 aspirations.
  3. No pace ...no power.....no guile They are neither fish nor fowl!!!! Who in their right mind would pick Geremi or Barton over a player like Pape Bouba Diop!!!! Big Sam should be shot
  4. I mean the defense floundered against Benjani who is hardly the biggest player around!!!!!! How are u guys going to deal with BEAST like Jones
  5. I am beginnng to understand y u guys have never won a major trophy despite having a lot of money to splash out every transfer season. U guys think mid table.... U yearn for star names and big players and heap scorn on any player who is not the finished article.U should ask any gooner how truly awful Henry was when he first arrived. How great was Drogba's 1st touch his first couple of seasons? How good is Shevchenko's 1st touch at Chelsea? How good was Owen's 1st touch for the Reds? The fact is the pace of this league takes sometime to get used too , and even very good players often look off the pace and ordinary. In Oba's 1st season he scored quite a lot of goals. This season his scoring rate is even better yet u guys keep b!tching bout the guy's 1st touch. The guy has spectacular goals leaking out of every f&cking orifice in his body and u guys keep B&tching about the chances he misses.
  6. Martins was not a bad player at Inter Milan. I remember him thoroughly embarassing Paolo Maldini at the San Siro. He had a pretty good goalscoring record for them even though he was used as a sub most of the times and he played so well that he supplanted Christian Vieri in the starting line up. He also scored some goals in Champion's League for Inter Milan . Henry was in a free fall at Juventus before Wenger rescued him and brought him to Highbury. He was terrible during his 1st season but the fans at Highbury took him under their wing and he repaid their faith in droves. I saw quite a few games last year and what I did note was that Newcastle did not play a game to suit his strengths. Martins often had to create his own scoring opportunities. His last 2 goals illustrates that his technique is not poor . A player with poor technique and no imagination will not score the types of goals that Martins scores. I think he is sometimes too anxious to please and that causes him to sometimes snatch at an easy chance or to miscontrol a simple ball or make an errant pass..But the fact of the matter for all his faults his scoring rate matches Owen even though he has had less starts this season
  7. I have a lot of respect for Owen as a striker .He is a fox in the box but does not have an all round game and is not going to develop one anytime soon. Martins on the other hand has the potential to develop an incredible allround game and to exceed Owen in each and every department. What he needs is for the right manager to bring it out of him. I ama conoussier of football and some of the goals that Martins scores takes ur breath away. His goals have the mark of genius!!!! Yet many here despite the evidence of being put in their face ever so often refuse to realise his potential and trot out the same old excuses that he has a poor first touch ,does not do enough off the ball etc... But they fail to realise that the same was said Of Drogba, Henry and Pires during their 1st few seasons in the Premier League but the fans stood behind their players and it paid off in droves .
  8. Owen is indeed a world class striker, that is not in dispute......but the fact is that it was Martins goals which saved u NUFC from certain relegation last season... and he started with a brace in the 1st game of the new season. Most coaches would have given him an extended run .... Owen on the other hand has spent more than a year on the sidelines and seemed more interested in playing for England than the club.. Martins on the other hand seems to put club first
  9. Sounds good but it is essentially a load of rubbish.....Owen did'nt have to prove anything he walked into the starting line up as soon as he was fit at Martins expense...even though Martins had already notched 2 goals!!!! There seems to be one rule for Martins and one rule for Owen
  10. You guys will realise what an excellent player Martins is when he leaves. I am tired of u guys taking the mickey out of Martins when he has been excellent for u thus far. The guy has already scored a a few goals this season even though he has not been an automatic starter. Maetins has weaknesses but I don't think that they are as bad as u guys make it out to be. A lot of top players have weaknesses that are disguised by the quality of the teammates they have around them. I saw a lot of the games where Martins was criticised and I found a lot of the criticism to be unfair.
