  1. "The current situation is not the fault of the players, and they will be supported from the stands providing that they give the effort required when you wear that famous shirt. However, Newcastle fans are never going to get behind the current regime, because they have seen too much evidence of things they don't like." Nail on head. Tomorrow I hope to join in plenty of pro-Hughton, pro-team and anti-Ashley chants. And if anyone's on the back row of the East stand, how about bringing along a flag and hanging it over the last two letters of the new Sports Direct hoardings? Same goes for anywhere else in the ground near SD branding for that matter.
  2. Aaaaaargh! It's just another case of idiots making decisons for the wrong reasons at the wrong times. It just makes me shake my head and feel sad. Can't see how anyone with the kind of experience the club is looking for would go anywhere near Ashley's employ. And imo anyone who does will be viewed with suspicion and will need time to win round the fans. Not ideal in a relegation battle. Anyone know if the increased relegation parachute payments would cover our costs this time round? Has Mike been doing some maths? Does Pedro or Stone have the required badges to be appointed a PL manager? FFS what kind of track record in organising and motivating top level footballers do they have. [insert cheap shot at Pedro's lack of vocal clarity here] Pass the gun...
  3. pud, I've not renewed and have send info to you in a PM
  4. Agreed. And the way in which he claimed to Pedersen that the full-on short punch to his chest had in fact been an open-handed slap just made it worse. He's got a screw loose. End of.
  5. Good to know. Will dig out when I get back to Blighty.
  6. Pic of offending brolly now Here. Also has story Here of woman who chopped off bloke's knob and chucked it in the bin. Niiice All of a sudden the NOTW seems like The Beano.
  7. Everything Everything - Man Alive. Initially thought it had 'too many notes' and wasn't sure but is a grower & turning into my album of the year. Stands up to repeated listening right through, with some fabulous hooks mixed in. Gutted I can't get to this weeks gig in toon to see how it works live. Dance music it ain't.
  8. From Toontastic's temp Chiang Mai correspondent. Spirit medium holds 'traditional' blades piercing his cheek Precis from today's Phuket Gazette. (Not on website.) Boss of vegetarian festival wants spirit mediums to use only traditional objects to pierce their cheeks. Growing trend of using" 'modern' objects like beach umbrellas, power drills & motorbike parts." Suggested "'traditional' instruments of choice are those mentioned in Chinese legends eg swords, axes, maces thru to 12in spiked staffs with figurines of Chinese gods as headpieces. "

Yes, glad to hear this, he really seemed to make progress last season, and hopefully can step up to prem level. Hope there's a 'no pay if you're locked up' clause tho.
  10. Will try not to repeat self this time lol. some really nice passing from us. BA double fracture is bad news. Only Routledge looked totally out of his depth. Problem is we don't seem to have any consistency and, apart from villa game are playing up/down to level of opposition.
  11. sorry. Posting from phone. Comms not the best here
  12. sat watching in Cambodia doing my bestto convert the locals. TV presenters have citeh down for easy win. Pleat boils my piss. Cracking strike from Guti. Hope we can keep this up.
  13. Aye. Objectivity rules. Problem is it'll never last in the premier league bubble, sadly.
  14. Is Scott Parker turning into a werewolf on that site's banner?
  15. Link to unsorted ones here including the muppet who made it to the podium
  16. Fucking Funny at Half Time when they played "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and the Ultras up in L7 sang along with the Coloccini chant. Some of them were still singing it on the train out of Toon. I thought the atmosphere was prety good tonight. As for the game, we were shite first half, esp Jose & Jonas & ok in the second.
  17. It'd probably be too much of a strain for the OP to ever be flushed with success .
  18. ...older brother Damon is a rock star...
  19. A couple of times it looked like he was setting himself for a one man American Football style play vs the goalie. It was fucking funny.
  20. as well as an easily misinterpreted photo of STaylor and Carroll with Nolan between them, almost as if he was separating them...
  21. Spooky. Same here, but about ten seats closer to the Gallowgate. Standing in the back row is fookin ace and it helps wor lasses gammy knee! The atmosphere in the East Stand Library is usually shite, but I join in the Gallowgate/Leazes chants now & then - which sounds good cos the noise bounces straight off the roof immediately above me. Over the last few years we've basically traded up our seats as better ones became available. The atmosphere in the ground has generally got worse over that time. The best I've witnessed was the Shearer Testimonial, when we were on the front row of the east stand. Incredible. We started in SJH L7 next to the windows (if the match was shit there was always the consolation of a cracking view, or the challenge of getting your paper plane down onto the pitch) and gradually got in line behind the goal. We then hopped down to SJH NW corner near the players box (where we saw the comedy sized plaster-cast on Marcelino's finger), moved down closer to the corner flag and then last season got into the back row of the east stand in line with the edge of the Leazes penalty box. Another polite letter to the box office at renewal time got the current seats. I guess my perfect seats would be about 15 rows further forward with a concrete wall immediately behind, so we could stand without blocking others' view, but I think the stewards would probably give us grief. It takes ages to get out at F/T.
  22. Just got back. Also seen the goals on telly. The teams which have done well against us this season have been mobile and dominated our midfield. Coventry had some of the former and none of the latter - we did well because they didn't close us down and had no midfield enforcer, leaving space (& oodles of time) for Guthrie to create from central midfield. And they had a defender sent off after making all 3 subs, which helped us even more. We started poorly and could have been 2 down, but for a Nolan header off the line. Their goal gave us a kick up the arse and a few of our team went on to have a good day. Our wide men really stood out - Guti scared the shit out out of them by making lots of mazy runs without much end result - one on-target rocket of a shot was blocked, but another almost ended up in Leazes L7, and he tried to hide in his shirt in embarassment. Routledge looked lively when he had the chance, worked intelligently to support Simpson and took his goal well. Lova was alert and made some intelligent runs without much end product - but his pen was well taken. The logic behind bringing Raylor on to play LW in the last 10 minutes left me utterly bemused, but he, too was in the right place at the right time to score when the ball rolled across the box to him past Best, whose air-kick completely missed the ball. I thought it was a bit odd that only 2 or 3 players went to congratulate Raylor. Either the rest couldn't be arsed or don't like him. Routledge & Best look like positive additions who will contribute to our run in, and Williamson will plug a gap.
