  5. Sorry Fop, your line broke.......I'm not wasting anymore of my time replying to your posts You're the King of the interweb.
  6. How do you do it then? Given all the things already mentioned, how exactly do you do that in this area? If it is so possible then just explain how it is done here and now, easy enough? Well for sure missile strikes against with high number of civilian deaths ain't the way, unless you want to send a message. They (drone strikes) certainly aren't the only option regarding what to do with Taliban leaders (as Happy Face says they can just be left alone to get on with organising the resistance in Afghanistan, that is an option), but they are about the only viable way to take them out (if that is the choice made) in the current circumstances (as we're still waiting for Tooner's explanation of "another way"). But then that is the crux of the matter (if you ignore Chris's hypocrisy) you're basically left with bad choice 1 or bad choice 2. In the end all war is is at best legalised murder and at worst legalised genocide, there is no such thing as a "good" or "right" war..... just war. (they certainly aren't nice people though, read that article the fella in question made a 12 year old boy behead [in the loosest terms, more like slowly hack the living head off with a knife] someone on video.) Oh, I see you want diagrams and flow charts, I'll get to work immediately.......FFS So am I to believe in the entire modern history of warfare, (and keep in mind I am not in the military, and I'm guessing, niether are you Fop), no one has ever carried out a remote reconaissance of enemy troops/troop movement/targets of interest in hostile territory? Give me a break Fop, you are arguing for the sake of arguing now, but i guess this will fall on deaf ears if I don't come up with actual battle plan for "How to Track a Taliban 101".
  7. Calm down, breath and try some proper formatting. The problem with the "covert game" is again the problem with Happy Face's false beard, glasses and moustache "following" idea. You're not talking about tracking or even befriending someone that lives in London, you're talking about doing it to someone that spends their time in the back end of nowhere (quite literally) and likely splits their time between caves in the middle of nowhere and very small towns and villages where strangers may as well be painted day-glo orange and run about screaming for their inconspicuousness. It's NOT a Hollywood movie and things just don't work like one of their scripts. The USA and the UK have had special forces in the area and they just haven't been all that successful (much like the USSR weren't for similar reasons), bribery and developing paid informants has been working, but again you are left with the problem of what to do and how to do it - which basically comes back to air strikes one way or another. Pakistan is also massively against any unauthorised personnel being on the ground (and if they know about it/are working with them then they are probably already compromised - see what Fop posted earlier). Meanwhile more US and indeed British troops in Afghanistan are being killed by forces being organised and controlled by these people. Look, I think it's you that is having an issue with the concept of reality versus movies. First of all we're not talking about ,the Robert Ludlum Cold War version of "covert", we're talking about a ranged observation of potential targets in hostile territory. Not an impossibilty, but there is no desire for that type of engagement. Using a blunt 1000 lb bomb to make your point serves a multi-faceted purpose, 1) instilling terror into the general public who will inevitably be caught in the middle 2) using up pricey ordinance and therefore creating demand for more, we're in the middle of a recession don't cha know? 3) easy PR to show the folks back home what a great job is being done fighting the war on terror etc. I just disagree that the right way to engage the enemy is with bigger explosions, although that being said I have a real issue with being there in the first place....but that is altogether another point
  8. Like MJ said: "It's A Turf War On A Global Scale, I'd Rather Hear Both Sides Of The Tale". "Heal the world, make it a better place" Happy, re: getting more information, I thought the whole point of terrorist cells is that they don't know what anybody else does? We talking about the Taliban or Al Qaeda? I beleive the bombing was against a Taliban target, my point was that the U.S. is using state sponsored terrorism, which is the same tactic as Al-Qaeda
  9. When they're on the steps of parliment with the nuke codes in their back pocket, they can be bombed. So like Fop said a completely ridiculous position is the best you can come up with. (it's no wonder you ran away from this thread ) Holy Fuck you're a boring CU#T!!!!! stop talking about yourself in the third person and dragging this thread on any further. The fact is that if the governments currently carrying out "military operations" in Afghanistan wanted to they could play the covert game and take out which ever target they wanted with little or no colateral damage. However since it's the U.S. (no offence to any yanks reading this) they've read (and probably authored a few chapters) the Al-Qaeda hand-book and are trying to wreak the same sort of terror on the general populous as those they are fighting. Just so I am CRYSTAL clear as to what my position is, I think that the military should be performing operations similar to what Fish mentioned, let the enemy go about their biz as normal and then take them out as opportunity warrents, note the difference Fop between surgical strikes using a .50 cal sniper rifle and "surgical strikes" using a 1000 lb. bomb.
  10. it's all about the semantics with gov't PR, but state sponsored terrorism is still terrorism, they just get to call it military operations
  11. F%#KIN BRILLIANT SONG!!! .......ahhh the memories!!! first years out west skiing 100+ days a year.
  12. Bullshit. We can spot a Canuck a mile away. 1. They're nice. Too nice. 2. They say words that rhyme with "about" funny. 3. The whole top half of their head comes off when they talk. Vegas is fun if you're single and like to drink. Otherwise, it's pointless. listen buddeh, i catagorically deny that the top half of my head comes off when I talk........and as we've said before we apologise for the entire Bryan Adams fiasco.
  13. You might have issues with that.....my mate was dating a girl down there....met her on vacation ( he speaks the language) when he went back to visit, he had a lot of problems going from point A to point B.....lots of check points, had to have a reason to be there......maybe thats not the case but it was my mates experience....worth looking into
  14. Nah! it's one of the most popular choices for Canucks, and i've never heard of anyone having an issue getting across the border afterwards.....Norht Korea maybe a problem but not Cuba
  15. ????? o rly? by who? non Canadians................ funny.....they say the same thing about all the Auzzies that frequent BC during the winters......notorious bad tippers (or dine and dashers)
  16. he's been around...seen him in the who reading this thread line policing the anti-Shat-spur sentiment no doubt
  17. ????? o rly? by who? Just made that up tbh. I got given weed when I was there so I strongly refute that claim. hahaha.....sounds about right, let me know if you're ever in the Okanagan, I'll give ya some more P.S. i think there should be a "red eyed" smiley
  18. I agree tbh I know he's only had 8 games and all but i've seen no sign at all that he's going to be a good manager. Most of the time he just sits on his arse and lets Dowie do the work. If we had even a remote chance of getting Martinez in, I'd be far more open to that than Shearer staying on. I think there have been positives in what he's said and what experienced players like Duff have said about him. But I agree on the pitch we saw very little improvement. Given what he had to work with that's not surprising though and as such I'm still very much in favour of his appointment. with the exception of the Boro game, the way we'd been playing was awful, the CCC was an inevitibility. I think AS had a better chance of changing gravity than keeping us up, that being said i think he did a great job of trying to bring the professionalism and respect for the club back to the dressing room. he would have been out of his depth if we'd stayed up but i think he'll do a helluva job next year. ( if he gets the chance)
  19. I know what you mean, and I'm not a million miles away from your opinion, but seriously, is it worth a new manager coming in with a "clean state" philosophy to the squad ?? We need rid of these mercenaries and Shearer knows exactly what needs doing already, and we can't afford to waste a moment. +1000000
  20. agreed, won't sign anything till Fat A$$-hley apologizes, 10 minute...sign on the dotted line tomorrow
  21. you should watch the 70's version with Charlton Heston, you will piss yourself laughing, puts the new one in context as well comparitively much better......although i agree about the ending
  22. bring a TON 'O' CASH, vegas is excellent but fucking expensive...unless you are gambling and winning, booze is generally "free" if you are gambling (minor tipping required to get the waitress back before you are done your drink), and the money you lose offsets the "free" aspect.
  23. Brock, for once I stand alongside you and 'interesting' tastes. I fell asleep twice. Were you in Nottingham for the game yesterday btw? I saw a guy in the Horn in Hand with a beard and a toon shirt and wondered if it was you. If it was, you're fatter than I imagined. Donnie Darko is shite and anyone who says it isn't is a sheep. .....you can't be serious!?! guess i'm a sheep then......you sure you understood it?
