  1. I forget- what kind of jobs are you looking for? Is going back to school an option? Taking on volunteer work? Open source projects? Pretty much anything to fill in the gaps on the timeline of your resume. I mean, C.V.
  2. Who'd have guessed. That turned out to be bollocks.... http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/news/2009/..._to_fork_in.htm Wahey! Another deadline. What happened to all that let the markets decide bollocks?! Exactly my problem with the whole issue; it should be one way or the other. Either... 1. Don't regulate past basic stuff like you can't charge people 1000% interest and let the chips fall where they may, or 2. Regulate and bailout as necessary. That's what's really screwing us in my opinion- we're sending this "Too Big to Fail" message and that's the wrong message. Wonder how these thieves are getting on with their plans for the next little war. I'm sure it's going just fine. That's what's hilarious about this country- we can't get shit we really need like say, education reform, but start a war? We're all over it. Oh, and invading the mid-west would be a horrible idea. We've got guns. Tons of 'em. Lols. You'd take Mexico easier than you would the mid-west. Not even joking.
  3. A key point of the show that was on last night I mentioned above is how they even managed to fuck up the "too big to fail" message they wanted to send (wrong as it was), by letting some big companies fail and bailing out others in a seemingly random fashion. Bailing out AIG to give investors confidence to invest in the market is all well and good....but when you let Lehman bros fall by the wayside then it completely undermines the confidence you're trying to spread. Did you see the South Park where they explain how the government picked who got bailed out and who didn't? It involved headless chickens... lols. I really should catch up with South Park. I've hardly seen an episode since series 3 or something. Like most shows, it's pretty hit or miss, but the hits are good hits. I'm sure it's on YouTube or SouthParkStudios.com (both blocked for me from work so no link, sorry). Don't remember word for word what the title of the episode is, but it actually gives a surprisingly accurate take on the whole financial crisis through an analogy of Stan trying to return his dad's Margaritaville Margarita maker.

  5. If Fop has said that this thread would already be on page 16. (it's true though) If that's how he feels, that's how he feels. I don't necessarily agree with it, but there's an assload of people in this country who do these days. With the way our government has handled education, I kinda see the need for it, to be honest.

  7. It just doesn't say how or why! How? By having a two-tier top league where only the reasonably sized+ teams are allowed. Why? To keep shitey Hull etc out. These, I take it, are what the auther means. On a similar note, I read that Simon Jordan proposes the Old Firm having to pay £100m to join the top divisions of English football. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If Rangers and Celtic are allowed into English football I wouldn't set foot in SJP again. If you're going to do that, you should just spin UEFA off into it's own full-time league and leave all the "lower" leagues as they are.
  8. No shit. Here's the real question- what the fuck was the point? I don't care if you're talking white/ black, jew/ arab, or whatever. People will always find reasons to hate one another. And if they can't find any reasons lying about, they'll make new ones. Honestly, aside from trying to give all the participants a case of the warm fuzzies, what the fuck is the point of having a conference on racism? Did it help people heal? Did it build new bridges? Fucking waste of time. There's nothing that can be said or done in some conference to suddenly make Ahmadinejad not hate Jews. It'd be like inviting me to a conference on why L.A. Kings fans should get along with Anaheim Ducks fans. Or Geordies and Mackems. Or Red Sox and Yankees. I realize I'm trivializing in the name of making an analogy, but it's true really- nothing can be said, no evidence presented that can change the way he and some other people feel, so why waste people's time? Why give him yet another podium to spew hate from? Why give Israel another excuse to say, "See! They do hate us!", and bomb the shit out of somebody else. Strange thing is at the last one in South Africa again there was a poor turnout. I for one think that it should be an open and frank forum and it should be taken seriously by all. Of course if it was a debate about MEP's pay rises or summat they'd all be there and marathon taling sessions into the night would occur. That's what you'd think, assuming that the people involved actually want to fix the problem and not just prolong it for their own selfish and egotistical ends. It's just like when the Republicans get up on their high horse about abortion over here in the States. Roe v. Wade has been on the books since 1973- nearly 40 fucking years and in all that time you couldn't get a President, House, and Senate to overturn it? Give me a break. Truth is, it's the drug companies line- there's more money in the treatment than the cure.
  9. Who'd have guessed. That turned out to be bollocks.... http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/news/2009/..._to_fork_in.htm Wahey! Another deadline. Being someone closely related to the auto industry here in the States, I find it hard to believe that the government would insist that Wagoner step down and Fritz take the wheel. Not so much because I think Wagoner was a genius who was left holding the bag, but because none of the banks had their CEOs ousted throughout this process. Maybe I'm naive, but I think any large company is poorly run just by it's very nature. We just never noticed it before because nearly all Americans drive to work everyday, and as such, need cars to get there. How in the world you can fuck that up is beyond me, but at the same time, how in the world can you fuck up as an insurance company? That shit is the biggest racket on the face of the earth. You pay and pay and pay for some shit that might happen, then when it does, you get a tiny percentage back on what you've paid in over the years. I definitely wasn't a McCain supporter, but I also wasn't one of these moonies who was convinced that Obama was going to ride in on a lightning bolt and save us all from the big bad Bush. Clinton duped me with all his lies back in the first election I could vote in. It hasn't happened a second time. The truth is, we did it to ourselves, and like Thom Yorke so eloquently sang, that's what really hurts. We took on loans we couldn't afford from banks who knew we couldn't afford them, but the ever increasing housing market in this country made it all seem like a can't-lose proposition. When the real estate bubble finally burst and people couldn't even afford the no money down ridiculous ARM loans on houses they couldn't hope to afford, it all went to shit. Should the government have protected us from ourselves? In all honesty, no, but our government has transformed itself in my lifetime from necessary evil for the public good to babysitter and surrogate parent. It's all moot points though as this country was bought and sold when Nixon signed the HMOs into existence (at least in my opinion). Frankly, it all makes me want to vomit, and the two-party partisan cockblocking and name-calling that passes for politics in Washington these days gives me the dry heaves. To think I had family members die for this sham that passes for America these days is a fucking travesty.

  11. That's what has been so hard to get behind these past couple of games- it isn't like the team is out there working hard, doing whatever it takes, sacrificing anything to stay up, going down guns blazing. We look lazy and undisciplined. Sad. If I didn't know better, I'd say the majority of the players on these team want out of their contracts so desperately, they're willing to tank. Seems like they can't be arsed.

  13. of course not, she's too busy banging SMO and loving it. I know, I've watched.... ....and participated. Do you think this "girl power" attitude empowers you as a woman? Or do you feel you MAY be just degrading yourself to prove a point? I didn't realise being me and saying I have sex and I like sex degraded me. Fuckin' Hell we must all be degrading ourselveson here. What is society coming to? Start your own board Danny my son, and be careful who joins, I wouldn't want us dragging you down to our level. I promise I won't join Come on Soccermum, you and I both know that women are genetically predisposed toward love, long term relationships and sex within the context of a loving relationship. Men on the other hand are just driven by the genetic urge to spread his seed. Please don't cheapen yourself, do you want to end up a singe mum forever? I'm not single now, you tool. And I'm certainly not cheap. Does your other half know you come online and act like this? Would he approve? I am glad you really are a one man women. Now you are sttled there is no need to act like a lady of loose morals. Yes he reads this forum. I know he does. I am in a relationship therefore I'm faithful, why would I be otherwise? You got issue with the fact that I've slept with both men and women? Is that your "loose morals" cos I don't lie I don't cheat I don't steal I'm not offensive I don't fight I do play I do laugh I do love I'm a good friend I'm a good lover I'm a good mother If all that makes me bad and loosely moralled, than I am happy to be. I don't impose my opinions and beliefs on you so don't impose yours on me please. Haven't you already admitted in Parky's thread that you have tasted 'forbidden fruit'? Doesn't that make you a serial offender, and, therefore, that statement (above) a loose one?? Genuine question btw, though I know it sounds like an attack. Yes I was an offender, but I offended with the fella I have now and I'm not planning on offending ever again. People can make mistakes, the trick is having the balls to admit to them and doing something about it. Thanks for the lecture. However, people [note the lack of 'can'] make mistakes and there's nothing about needing to have the balls to rectify them. An honest realisation of one's mistakes and a desire not to repeat them is more than sufficient imo. My mistake was to marry the wrong person and stay married for 10 yrs. He was abusive and controlling and with a child in tow you better believe it took a lot of balls to get out and leave. My current fella helped me do that, he was someone I'd known for a lot of years and he helped me realise I deserved more. Yes I had an affair, it's not something I'm proud of but then again i'm not ashamed of it either. I believed in marriage I thought I'd be with the same man for life, but it didn't turn out that way. It's easy for you to say you should have just left but it's really not that simple when you're in that situation. He took my confidence, pride, individuality, freedom and my feeling of self worth and threw them all away. My fella helped me get all that back and now im the me he knew 13 years ago and I feel free and so alive. So yeah I do have balls and regrets but I'll never be ashamed of who I am ever again. Where do women get this idea that they 'deserve more'? Seems a recurring theme with most girls I've met. A lot of women (and I've had a fair few very sexy and intelligent girlfriends) rarely seem happy about their lot (in general). Us men on the other hand continue to count our lucky starts rather than whine on and on about this and that....(irony intended). The other thing I find bizarre is that women who seem confident and self-assured seem so easy prey to self-esteem issues. Stop blaming men for everything and get your own fucking lives together yo! When guys are kids, they play at being soldiers or firemen or spacemen. When girls are kids they play at being princesses. You figure it out.
  14. A very good post, particularly the bit about being genetically pre wired. While I would not consider myself a racist, there are situations when I act in ways that could only be described as racist. I am sure this is very true in all races. We probably can't discuss these things on here which is a shame. Let's just brush issues under the carpet rather than exploring different ideas. I think most people / races are racist. I think its hilarious watching people prance about issues like whether calling chinese food a 'chinkies' is racist when the dominating polemic in China is the superiority of the chinese race. Is that like an epidemic of poles? Christ, I thought you'd find that in Poland instead. Oh Christ, did that sound racist? I whole heartedly apologize to the Polish. I told those jokes as a kid without even realizing they were racist. LIKE A TREE GROWING BY THE WATER, WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED.

    EVE

EVE Online? That's shit is geeky to geeks.
  16. Who Hell he? His name is Ash and he is a slave. As far as I can figure, the year is thirteen hundred A.D and he's being dragged to his death. It wasn't always like this, he had a real life, once. A job... Good, bad... he's the guy with the gun.
  17. Really like the wheels on that Mas, KD. Beautiful without being too over the top.
  18. These are all reasons why I rarely play games with strangers. Usually just fire up a server and play with my friends against bots. I know, I know, I'm a tremendous homo playing against bots, but Christ, it's better than putting up with this bullshit. I will say I've gotten back into PC gaming more as it seems like most of the dipshits have migrated to 360/ PS3 since 2006 or so. Kinda back to being nice again.

    Lap Top TV Output

Sort of talking out of my ass here, but two thoughts spring to mind immediately- 1. Have you tried plugging in the TV after Windows fully boots? 2. Check your power options in control panel. Could be some kind of power saver kind of deal where since it sees you've plugged in an external monitor, it's killing your screen. Might not necessarily be in your display options...
  20. Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. Story about a med-school drop out who is also a sex addict. He trolls sexaholics anonymous meetings to pick up chicks.
  21. Dude- get in touch with Parky and shoot a documentary about the guy and his "struggle" or whatever. It'd be awesome.
  22. I've got my Mac set to rotate wallpapers every minute and it pulls from a folder with 140 or so pictures, but here's three of my favorites- Here's the one the PC displays-
  23. One thing I was surprised to not see in the list is if you shoot a car's gas tank, or sometimes even just the car itself, with any caliber handgun and rounds of any type, the car will immediately explode.

    Linux

I'm not an OS expert or anything, but from what I understand, Linux (and Mac OS which is basically BSD from what I read) is less prone to viruses because the user/ superuser stuff works differently on Linux/ Mac than Windows. Windows will automatically execute all kinds of shit whereas Linux/ Mac can't or won't. Lots of folks will point out there are still Linux/ Mac exploits and stuff- like I send you a virus but it won't do anything unless I can somehow convince you to open it, but there aren't any that self-extract or whatever on their own as is the case of Windows stuff. And yeah, like Ant said, setting up a dual-boot is the easiest way to get both of them going. If you get your hands on an Ubuntu distro, I'm sure i'll have dual-boot setup on there. I messed around with Linux back about 10 years ago. If you mainly use your computer to program, it's a no brainer. If you want a more secure environment and just basically do web browsing/ email, it's great for that too. I'm about to build a new computer and I'm seriously thinking about sticking Red Hat on my current PC and hooking it up as a web server for my fantasy hockey site.
