Deano 0
Its going to be a tough old month is January, on the back of a 5-1 home thumping from Liverpool, a boring goalless draw at Hull, and a lively yet slightly dissapointing home draw against West Ham we look forward to the home FA Cup replay against Hull which i fully expect us to win, then two tough away games at Blackburn and Man Citeh. Although we cant expect much in the way of signings we do have a few players coming back from injury, most notably Joey Barton who i think has been sorely missed in our engine room, Alan Smith who has been poor but will have the fire in his belly and a point to prove, and lastly and probably most important Oba Martins who im sure most will agree, although not exactly prolific nor consistent and at times frustrting, his directivness, pace and trickery has been missed greatly. All three probably wont make the hull game, but i'd imagine have a chance for our two crucial away games. So for our immediate encounter at home to Hull City i'd quite like to see the Carroll and Owen partnership. We all know where we NEED to stregnthen but whether we do actually go out and get the LB, RB and CM we yearn for is yet to been seen. Fingers crossed that by the time the filth come to St. James on the 1st of Feb we have a few numbers in and the three above mentioned back and fit. As always with NUFC, January will be nail biting and unpredictable but here is what i think will happen in terms of results, i would normally have a punt at prospective signings but like everyone else, its pointless even trying to suss out what MA and his team are doing at present. Newcastle v Hull (FA Cup) 3-0 Blackburn v Newcastle (League) 1-1 (Optamistically thinking though i should of learned by now!...1-2) Man Citeh v Newcastle (League) 2-1 The above assuming we dont get anyone in and we rely on the current squad.
