  2. Chris Coleman is set to return to football management in Spain less than three months after being sacked by Fulham.

    article continues below...

Real Sociedad have turned to the 37-year-old former Wales defender, who is to be unveiled in the next few days.

President Maria De La Pena believes Coleman will bring "freshness and new ideas" to the club, who were relegated from the Primera Liga for the first time last season.

The former Cottagers boss was recommended by compatriot and current Wales coach John Toshack, who has managed the San Sebastian side on three separate occasions.

The club's former coach Salva Iriarte is to work alongside the Welshman after being given the post of sporting director.

The move is subject to the new board being ratified on Saturday.

Delighted for him. Every season, I wish for Fulham to go down because they're such a pathetic mickey mouse non-entity outfit - they played Chelsea in the League Cup 16,000 turn up and 10,000 of them are Chelsea - utterly pathetic club. Lee Clark had it right when he said Chris Coleman should be manager of the season every season for what he did with Fulham, yet they sacked him??!? What do they want? It was a disgrace and Coleman is a good lad in my view, the way it happened was shocking and topped off a shite week for him after revelations that his wife had been bugging his car because she thought he was humping somecunt else.

Anyway today he's been given a really good opportunity, and has been appointed manager of Real Sociedad. They're not Barca or Madrid, but it's still a well respected job, they were in the CL not so long ago, and maybe it will herald the beginning of English coaches trying their luck abroad and obviously gaining more knowledge of systems, players and the game. He's got some cracking games to luck forward to, Nou Camp, Berabeu, Mestaella, the two Basque derbies with Athletic, he deserves this. Fuck Fulham hope yous fuck off to the Conference.

Good luck Chris, canny bloke, but you don't look Welsh.

IF he gets them promoted. They were relegated last season..

  3. I'm a bit concerned that the money hasn't came out of my bank for my season ticket yet, was just wondering if anyone is in the same boat or knows how long it normally takes the Box Office to process the applications? I had put a covering letter in with my application requesting to change my seat, not sure if that could cause a delay?

    Cheers people

  4. As much as I hate to say it, a strikeforce of Berbatov, Keane and Bent (and Defoe if they don't sell him) must be one of the best in the league. Fucking Spurs, fuck off.

After Vieiri too now according to SkySports.com.

How many strikers do they need?! B)

  5. Bobby mentioned Fat Sam in his book too in dodgy circumstances. Basically tapping up Shearer via text, byt sent it to poor Bobby instead.

    Is that true? :lol::rolleyes:

    "W0ZZUP SHEERA!!1 F4NCY COMIN 2 PLAY 4 B0LT3N NEXT SEAS0N?!!11! ITS GUN BE MINT!! OMG11!LOL!!11"

  6. shola isn't as bad as some make out. i'm happy with him as third or fourth choice striker

Even when first and second (and third) pick up injuries? Then is he still good enough as 4th choice, when circumstances mean we're relying on him for goals? Care to name a poorer 4th choice in the top 4, seeing as that's where we aim to be?

i'd say he's on par with the likes of alan smith, aliadiere, baptista, kalou, robbie fowler etc

    Fuck off

i don't see many of that lot outscoring shola by many. do you?

shola was scoring goals at a decent rate before his op, carrying an injury and playing in a shit side.

he's not the best player in the world but i'd be as happy with him coming off the bench as any of the others listed above.

I agree with you in the respect that he is nowhere enar as bad as alot of people make him out to be, and I'm quite happy having him as a backup striker. But I'd certainly prefer Smith, Baptista (if he could re-produce his form that he showed at Sevilla) and Kalou to Ameobi. Kalou may not have had the best of starts to last season but I felt towards the end started to show that he could mature into a fairly good player.

I'll give you Fowler and Aliadiere though, one's past it and the others just shit

  8. Becks: I won't return on loan

By Robin Hackett - Created on 3 Jun 2007

David Beckham has ruled out the possibility of a loan move back to Europe - and is adamant his move to LA Galaxy should not have an adverse effect on his international career.

Beckham has been in fine form for Real Madrid since agreeing a move to the MLS, and made a successful comeback for England in Friday's friendly with Brazil.

But many believe he will not be able to compete at the highest level once he moves to America, and have suggested the player could be loaned back to a top European side when the MLS season finishes in the winter.

Newcastle had been strongly linked with a move for his services, but Beckham has now ruled out any possibility of such a move.

"Will I be coming back somewhere on loan? No," he said. "That is never going to happen."

But he remains confident that he can still perform at international level once he ends his Real Madrid career.

"Will playing in America have an adverse effect on my England chances? I hope not.

"Physically, I will be fine. I will still be as good as I am today. That is not going to be a problem.

"Travelling is not going to be a problem, because I will travel from anywhere to play for my country, so we will see.

"I haven't worked out schedules, but I am sure it can be done nearer the time.

"Everyone at LA Galaxy knows that I want to play for my country and I am sure they will do everything possible to make it possible for me to play for my country."

  9. Allardyce to mimic Bolton methods

Sam Allardyce has revealed that he will use Bolton as the template in his bid to bring success to Tyneside.

Allardyce was renowned for innovative thinking at Bolton, using scientific techniques to keep players fit.

And having enabled Gary Speed and Ivan Campo to play well into their thirties, Allardyce will waste no time in installing his methods at Newcastle.

"To grow the backroom staff is going to be important in maintaining success," Allardyce told the Newcastle Ryder.

Allardyce believes that attention to detail will be crucial in re-establishing Newcastle as a genuine Premiership force.

"I don't know how the current United players live their lives now, but I'm sure they live very professionally," he said.

"But there are one or two things that we think are unique in what we developed over the past seven or eight years that have been extremely successfully for the Bolton players, no matter how young or old they are.

"The Gary Speeds of this world are testament to that - he's still playing a high level of Premiership football at 37.

"Some of the younger players like Kevin Nolan and Nicky Hunt have played at England Under-21 level.

"Then, of course, there are some of the foreign players we've brought in over the years where people have suggested they're mercenaries and only came for the big bucks and to take it easy.

"But the likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Fernando Hierro, Ivan Campo, El-Hadji Diouf and Nicolas Anelka have produced magnificent results.

"If I can get things in place - working with the players I've already got here at Newcastle - then it's only going to help them get better."

  10. considering they're two of our better players, i'd try and keep them. i'd sooner see parker, carr and babayaro sling their hook

Owen yes, but is Dyer really one of our better players? Not sure he would be in my starting eleven..

  11. Ive been offered a ticket for next season in the milburn stand, right next to the dug out, 2 rows back.

Its getting on for £600 but with the new manager and ashleys money looking like signing some decent players im considering it. Im just worried that it might be too close to the pitch and i might get a season of looking through players legs. Anyone ever sat that close to the pitch? Does it hamper the view?

I've sat near the front (think it was 2 rows back) and it did hamper the view a bit. Saying that, at the time I was quite a bit younger and it was my first game, so loved being close up to the players ;)

  12. Moving into a house soon and there'll be 4 of us there and we're trying to figure out what the best broadband package would be.

We really need unlimited download and a wireless router would be ideal. And we all need to be able to access it at the same time obviously.

AOL looks canny so far, but Sky's package that includes Sky telly looks decent too, but I've heard somebad reviews....

    Any help appreciated! ;)

I've never really had any problems with Sky, though I know some who have.

Not sure if that's much help like ;)

  13. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has approached Milan to ask for a transfer, hints Carlo Ancelotti. “Nobody would suspect him. If I reveal his name, it’ll be chaos…”

It was no secret that the Rossoneri were close to signing former Juventus man Ibra last summer, but because they had to wait until their Champions League preliminary round was completed to know their strategy, Inter got there first.

Now that he has been a key figure in the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto triumph and Milan are champions of Europe, there are claims he wants to move on.

“Many champions have approached us. They all want us now,” smiled Ancelotti in yesterday’s Press conference.

“That includes one player who is totally above suspicion. If I reveal his name, it’ll be chaos…”

The newspapers this morning all agree on one thing – that man is Inter hero Ibrahimovic.

Already linked with Real Madrid, the real reason for his contract renegotiation problems is a desire to cross the city like Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf before him.

The Swede has reportedly asked for a substantial pay increase from the current £4m per season to at least £5.5m.

He also bitterly criticised the club this week, comparing them unfavourably to the disgraced Juventus side led by Luciano Moggi.

“My agent is currently negotiating a wage increase at Inter. I hope Massimo Moratti is as decisive now as when he signed me,” explained the former Ajax man.

“At Juve, they were a lot clearer on certain things. Moggi was removed because we won too much. It was all jealousy. When I arrived at Inter, the first thing I advised Moratti was to bring in Luciano and change their mentality. Luckily, we won anyway…

“They are two great teams, but that Juve had something more. There was a sense of cohesion that still isn’t present at Inter,” he told ‘Libero’ newspaper.

“Last year when someone played badly, the other teammates lifted him up. Here it is the opposite – whoever plays below par drags the rest of the squad down with him. Inter are still learning what it takes to be at the top.”

This transfer story could bring relations between the two ‘cugini’ to an all-time low. Matters are already extremely tense after the clubs insulted each other at a distance during their trophy celebrations.

They could do a lot better tbh.
