If I had to choose from those 3, then Hughton. If Ashley does decide to stay though I wouldn't mind seeing Curbishley here. Can't think of anyone better that we could realistically attract.
-
Hull, Villa, Mackems.
But more realistically I'd like Hull, Bolton and Wigan.

Hughes has ended his interest in Lescott according to SSN. Probably scupper the Taylor deal?

Sol Campbell says he'd love to sign for Toon
Aug 17 2009
by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle
Sol Campbell
SOL CAMPBELL told corporate guests at Newcastle United’s home encounter with Reading that he would “love to sign” for the Magpies.
The former World Cup star and Arsenal ace took in the game from the United executive area on Saturday night, and the Chronicle understands that Newcastle are interested in signing the free agent, and he will hold talks today on a move to St James’s.
The 34-year-old is engaged to Geordie Fiona Barrett, and they have bought Hallington Hall in Northumberland, meaning that a switch to St James’s Park would make geographical sense, especially at this stage of his career.
Campbell said: “I would love to sign here if it’s possible.
“But we’ll have to wait and see.”
Campbell’s wages appear to be the only stumbling block for United, but under-pressure Mike Ashley may sanction the move given that Michael Owen, Mark Viduka, Oba Martins, Sebastien Bassong and Habib Beye are all off a wage bill that has been slashed from £74m to £48m since the Toon were relegated.
Hull City are also in the hunt for Campbell, but it would be a major coup for United if they can pull this one off, given that the centre-back has lifted trophies with Spurs, Arsenal and Portsmouth, and has known nothing but a winning mentality throughout his career.
Steven Taylor was also linked again over the weekend with Everton, who were crushed 6-1 on Saturday night by Arsenal.
Taylor stayed on the field even longer than usual when showing his support for the Toon crowd, with many fans concerned he was saying goodbye.
Caretaker boss Chris Hughton told the Chronicle today: “I would like to think anybody who showed emotion at the end of the game was doing so because we have won and won so well.”
Hughton confirmed that Manchester United loan signing Danny Simpson will make his debut against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday night at St James’s.

Im not sure Gyms chase you that much.
I'd just cancel the DD through your bank.
This is what I did with mine. Couple months later they sent me a letter which I ignored, never heard anything since. And I cancelled my DD about a year ago.

Chawke considers Magpies bid
Former Sunderland shareholder enters Newcastle ownership battle
Last updated: 12th July 2009
Former Sunderland shareholder Charlie Chawke has confirmed he is putting together a syndicate to bid for Newcastle.
Newcastle announced earlier this week that at least three interested parties had met the £100million asking price set by current owner Mike Ashley.
Negotiations are continuing but no deal has yet been done and Chawke views the prospect of buying the St James' Park outfit as 'a very viable option'.
Chawke was part of the Drumaville Consortium which took over Sunderland three years ago but is no longer involved at the Stadium of Light following Ellis Short's buy-out.
The Dublin publican is in optimistic mood and also has the support of Louis Fitzgerald, another member of the Drumaville Consortium.
He told Irish radio station RTE: "We're putting a syndicate hopefully together to do just that (bid for Newcastle).
"We had a great time in Sunderland. We got seven Irish people and one English person together with a syndicate and we succeeded in acquiring Sunderland.
Viable option
"We had three great years there but unfortunately we're gone now. It's sold out to an American and we're looking for options and Newcastle is a very viable option at the moment.
"It's on sale for about £100million which is about £500million less than what it was worth a year and a half or two years ago.
"We have to look at options other than Sunderland and Newcastle would fit very nicely into our portfolio."
Chawke is not in direct talks with Ashley but has opened discussions with his legal and financial people.
Asked how the interest had come about, he replied: "We had friends in
Sunderland who were looking at it for us, through our accountants here in
Dublin.
"What we're trying to do at the moment is put together a syndicate of people who are interested firstly in football and then investing with us in Newcastle United if possible."
Asked how many people he was looking to have in the syndicate, Chawke said: "We're thinking about possibly the same as we had in Sunderland, about eight people maybe, depending on what money we can get.
"It's a great club, it houses 52,000 people. It's a great city, Newcastle.
"It's a bit like Dublin - vibrant, full of fun... all the best things in life are there. It makes perfect sense if I could just swing it."

The defending is frustrating like I just can't seem to cope when I've got someone running at me, always get straight past. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

REPORT: MALAYSIANS VISIT AGAIN
Posted 07/07/09 19:00EmailPrintSave
The Malaysian consortium bidding to take over Newcastle tonight paid a second flying visit to Tyneside.
Press Association Sport understands that the would-be buyers, who first toured St James' Park and the club's training ground last Thursday, returned on Tuesday night, this time accompanied by the man said to be number two to the prime investor.
The party, once again hosted by managing director Derek Llambias, was given a second tour after arriving in the north-east by private helicopter at around 5pm, and then left some 90 minutes later.
Their presence on Tyneside suggests Mike Ashley's bid to sell the club is finally reaching a climax with the main contenders racing to sign the sales purchase agreement which would effectively clinch a takeover.
Llambias revealed on Monday that "more than two" of the interested parties had met owner Mike Ashley's asking price of £100million, and sources close to the deal are confident that a conclusion could be reached within days.
That simply cannot come soon enough, either for Ashley or for the club he leaves behind with the start of the new season barely four weeks away.
Little is known about the potential purchasers, who have all had to sign non-disclosure agreements, although the Singapore-based Profitable Group, an American consortium and former chairman Freddy Shepherd are thought to be among those who have also entered into discussions with investment bank Seymour Pierce, which has been appointed to handle the sale.
It is thought several of them are keen to hand Alan Shearer the manager's job, although the intentions of the Malaysians remain unclear.

Hopefully!!
David Craig said they didn't have any names but would be trying desperately to find out more details. Not holding my breath like.
-
What was their take on it?
Said it was the Malaysian consortium, 2nd visit in the last 7 days, again looking round the training ground, facilities etc, accompanied by Llambias. Also said that the man bankrolling the consortium (Krishnan hopefully??) was present, which hopefully means it's starting to pick up pace...

The helicopter story just been confirmed on SSN.

They forgot to include an application form in mine
Fucking sackless this club.
-
Its bullshit, theres nothing on SSN about it.
Nothing on the headlines but it was definitely mentioned before.
-
If it is true, it's not really all that different from what we all figured anyway. The good players would almost ertainly leave one way or another and everyone wants the bad players to leave anyway so in a sense I think this 'whole squad up for sale' stuff sounds worse than it is. I think it's more the general lack of direction, lack of buyers, lack of manager etc that's the real worry.
Aye but the club won't see any of the money we get from the sales, it will go straight in Ashley's back pocket. I want to get rid of all the dross too but we need funds to bring replacements in or we're going straight down to League 1.
-
I don't suppose there were any quotes, or is this just more SSN shit-stirring?
Nah no quotes, so hopefully bollocks. Wouldn't put anything past this club though.
-
Just said on SSN that the whole squad is effectively up for sale, as the club are in contact with agents regarding a mass clear out.
Fuck off Ashley you cunt.
-
Looks amazing, although I'd feel a bit of a tit talking to the tv like that
-
Would probably do well at Everton too. Don't think he's anywhere near Arsenal class though.
-
Arsenal, Everton and Villa have all made enquiries according to SSN.
-
Chelsea have now denied making a bid.

I have the Nokia E71 for work and the Sony Ericsson C905 for personal use.
Both are highly recommendable but not touch screen. Been there, done that and wouldn't have another. It worked fine until I was out in the rain, then the sensitivity was shagged and the phone was unusable for about an hour.
I have the C905 and I love it.
Would prefer an iPhone though.
-
I'm not throwing in the towel completely but judging from last night's showing, the players already have.
-
I think that's us down. I hope I'm wrong. The worrying thing is we don't even look like scoring another goal this season, let alone winning another game

Just played someone online, he chose Celtic so I decided I'd choose Rangers. Little did I realise he'd filled his Celtic team with the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, Torres etc. What a prick
Still won like
