What is everyones latest on this? Are those of you who were wavering now signed up or are you still holding off?
In the end I didn't renew either. My thoughts (as I stated earlier) were that they deserved another year but I changed my mind. I don't get what they do, where it's headed or what the point is. I had a look round the site etc and that didn't sway me either. So they've got a councillor on board - to serve what purpose? The charity stuff is nice, but wheres the substance to the trust? I'm not even sure I want a trust the more I think about it. A supporters club with a few benefits and away days etc would be nice.
I decided to keep my tenner but if their direction changes (I can't tell you what the current direction even is) I could be tempted back.

Received it today. First impressions are it's pretty cool.
The e-ink thing is weird. When you first open it up it's got this message on the screen about plugging it in and turning it on etc. Except it looked for all the world like a message that was stuck onto the screen because it didn't look like any sort of message that could appear on a screen. Only when you turn it on, the same message disappears and is replaced by the Kindle home screen.
It basically looks exactly like a page of written text. And it turns out that it uses battery getting the text onto the page, so when you turn the page of a book it does this very brief thing where the screen goes dark and then it's replaced by the text of the next page. But once that text is up it's no longer using battery. Which is why the battery lasts for a month.
I've messed around with emailing some PDFs to it and viewing them as PDFs and also converting them to Kindle format, and that seems to work pretty well, although when you convert them they don't look as good as Kindle books do (text looks fine, but there are obvious issues with converting the pages to look exactly as they would in the PDF). The way that works is you get a Kindle email address, and you just email documents to it. If you want them converting, you put 'convert' in the subject field of the email. Within minutes they're on the Kindle.
Last thing to say is if you're acquainted with Rapidshare and places like warez-bb, you can get a ton of books in .mobi file, which the Kindle can read. Basically these things look identical to the books that you buy direct to the Kindle (I'm not sure but I think .mobi might have been the file format on earlier versions of the Kindle so they're still supported). So yeah, free Kindle books.
All in all, it seems canny good.
The guy who sits next to me in the office bought one recently and up until that point I wasn't interested. Having seen on e in the flesh though; the screen is astonishing. My first thought was it was a sticker too. Like you, I really fancy an iPad too and I read books. Mrs Paws is always on at me because I buy a book, read it once and it ends up in a cupboard. I've tried e-books on my laptop & phone, but they just aren;t the same. I'm kinda tempted by the Kindle, but I know that deep down I want an iPad. I reckon Matt would like it too. He loves my iPhone and at only 2 (nearly 3) he's taken to using it really well.
Question (not specifically aim at you Gem), can I email a .mobi file to myself, open it on my iPad from the email and read it in the Kindle/iBook app?

SKODA!!
Nah they are supposed to be pretty good these days aren't they? VW engine?
Vw everything iirc. The fabia is essentially a golf in a skoda skin isn't it? Same running gear and everything. Theyre even built in the same factory I believe.

My mid term upgrade was due 21st Sept and I rang O2 Business. iPhone 4's were out of stock until Oct. Rang Oct 1st and sorted 2 out. They arrived yesterday and I'm in London for the whole week
I'm still not impressed enough with Android to consider moving. The guy I'm with in London has the HTC Desire and he complains about it. Doesn't rate it at all.
-
Yesterday I rang O2 business as I'm overdue a mid-term upgrade. Briefly considered defecting to an Android based phone but frankly I like iOS, I've never had any real complaints about my 3GS and I've bought a few apps over the last 12 months or so.
I now have 2x iPhone 4's making their way to me (the other's for Mrs Paws).

Where are these replays being shown? Is it on Sky?
Dont know, they were on at the end of the river I had.
-
Just watched the goal replays. Our fault for Chelsea's 1st, dithered too much. Our next 2 were canny - particularly Raylor's freekick but Shola's first was was mint. I reckon that was 25+ yards out? His 2nd was mint too. Proper header from the best delivery (contribution even) I reckon Guti's made all season so far.
Their 2nd from Anelka was a good goal mind but the pen was bollocks.
Ended right though with a win for us. Was a bit like watching the NUFC of old with my heart in my mouth at times
Some great saves from Timmeh! too and not against lesser players, some of his saves from Anelka were top drawer.
Main thing is we've gotten away injury free (unless someone's picked up a bit of a knock). No major casualties though.
Good job boys.

get in shola. 6mins extra time though, is the ref a chelski fan?
-
Diving, cheating twat. Never a pen.
Scum.
-
That said I would give Band Of Skulls a shot!
Yeah, they're canny. The Parlour Mob are worth a listen if you liked BoS.
-
I hate to drag this thread away from the toffee fan bitchfest it's become; but I've gone power mad and I believe my question is more important
Who's gannin and where are we drinking beer?
-
It's been a couple of years since I got the Goodison. Where's everyone drinking?
-
Tbf, Yakubu does look pretty finished imo.
-
I've got tickets to this one. Who's going? Anyone fancy meeting up for a beer or 3 beforehand?
-
I'll renew. Nothing to do with the "yes we can" thing, but that I think the club should have a supporters club (trust) and that still in its infancy, needs time to develop.
This and what Peasepud said. I still find some of what they say/do a little cringe worthy and ill thought out; but at the same time I can't help but feel that it takes time for something like this to find its feet. Giving up after a year is a bit premature; fickle even.
Tell you what though, the email they sent round had no indication of renewal cost. Nor did the landing page the email took you too. I had to begin the renewal process before I was able to see how much it would cost - poor from the Web Dev guys.
Edit: Also, as an OOT I can't get involved with the club in the same way you 'lercals' can
The NUST kind of gives us OOTs an element of distant involvement - if that makes sense.

Anyone got a decent audio river. I'm putting a new shower in and I can do with just the radio. cant be arsed with fox cutting in and out.
-
I'm fishing for either a radio or video river. Bit choppy where I've been so far.
Any tips on where the best catch is would be much appreciated

And no Enrique.
Bugger, tonights game aside; I have him in my fantasy team.......
-
I can't agree with that last bit. Admittedly he was looking tired in his last season, but to say he held us back for 2-3 is bollocks imo.
I'd argue that one of our problems was that we relied upon him too much over the years to pull us out of the shit and have never properly replaced him since he retired. To a degree I'd say he papered over the cracks because no matter how poor we were in a game, you always thought Shearer would bag one, or force a situation for someone else.
He had his bad games and some would question his motives and his attitude towards other players etc but to write off 3 seasons is a bit much.

Ive been offered a ticket in the home end but I think I'll watch it in the pub. Ok, the pub will be full of ManU shirts, but at least they know me and I'll be able to cheer when Carroll bangs in his 3rd without fear of getting lynched.
Basically, I don't think I can sit in the wrong end for any game, let alone one we've a higher chance of losing.
-
Arse. I was hoping to listen to it as well. Might not be such a bad thing by the sound of it. What's the lineup?

If I'm being pedantic, it should be:
sudo userdel -r Barotelli
Not if you're already the root user.
No decent admin worth their salt logs in as root unless they absolutely have too.

samsung ht-c5200 Blu Ray / Home cinema.
Every now and again you buy a new gadget that really delivers in spades.
Just needs three speakers so no wires under the carpet. Sound is phenominal.
Also has the following features.
Wirelessly connects to the internt and other computers around the house
Acces facebook, youtube etc with the remote
Watch films from Love film
Plays radio stations
Has an ipod / iphone charger
Plays all iphone songs / pictures / videos
Sitting here listening to Whitney and she sounds as though she's sitting next to me.
I love this product
Cost?
I've been looking at that one for my Dad's Samsung TV. He doesn't want the 5.1 as he doesn't want the speakers/cables all over the place. It's immediate predecessor got 5 star reviews from WhatHiFi last year. The new model is the HT-5200 which looks identical apart from the software upgrade - it now plays DivX etc.

With Kilgallon falling through, I wouldn't mind seeing if he'd still like a move here.
tells u somet whn u lot want 1 of our reserve cbs 2 b ur 1st choice
I know it's generally banter, but your not doing your side proud by disproving the whole inbred and illiterate stereotype.
if u ask a mackem to explain wht da stereotype of a jawdee is he wud say da same as a jawdee explainin da stereotype of a mackem
Seriously man, start using F7.
Ctrl+F4 would be preferable.
actually be better to borrow "rm -r *" from UNIX
rm -rf *, need force in there
If I'm being pedantic, it should be:
sudo userdel -r Barotelli
