  1. it was a case of the lad literally planting his foot on the floor and shawcross took the ball. the energy from the impact all went through one point. it wasn't even a red card....

gotta feel sorry for the kid.

Have you seen the replays? Ramsey tuck the ball away with the outside of his foot. If the ref didnt send him off there would have most definitely been a media cumfest.

  2. On ITV4 now, shows real life prison breakouts. At the moment the Pittsburgh Six story is on told in the words of Nuno Pontes. So far its class.

Just thought I would share it with you incase anyone was interested in watching it :(

  3. FOOTIE bling king Stephen Ireland really has gone off the deep end - spending £100,000 on a giant FISH TANK.

The big-buying Man City star had the huge feature installed as part of a refit of his £5million mansion.

Stephen Ireland buys a new £260k customised Bentley for his girlfriend Jessica Lawlor,

    Flash ... Jessica Lawlor's £264k Bentley

The four-metre tank holds 6,000 litres of saltwater - 75 times more than an average aquarium - and contains 500 tropical fish.

It even includes a reef from Fiji, an in-built computer to monitor temperature and is fitted with wi-fi so it can be operated from anywhere in the world.

All the technical parts are hidden in cabinets and the water is pumped through underfloor pipes from a separate room.

Midfielder Ireland, 23, who earns £70,000 a week, said: "It's just breathtaking. When people come to the door and see it their first reaction is, 'Wow'!"

The tank is made of commercial acrylic instead of glass, tough enough to withstand being accidentally hit by a ball from the personalised pool table next to it.

Ireland shares the house in Prestbury, Cheshire, with his girlfriend Jessica Lawlor, 24, and three kids.

Last month Jessica claimed it was not easy being a WAG.

But we told how the couple topped the spending league with lavish buys including £264,000 on a white Bentley GTC convertible for her birthday.

  4. British film actress Jean Simmons, who played Ophelia in Laurence Olivier's Hamlet and sang with Marlon Brando in Guys and Dolls, has died aged 80.

Simmons, who won an Emmy Award for her role in The Thorn Birds in the 1980s, died at her home in Santa Monica on Friday, her agent told the LA Times.

She had been suffering from lung cancer for some time.

The actress, who moved to Hollywood in 1950, first made her name playing Estella in 1946's Great Expectations.

    Obituary: Jean Simmons

She went on to become one of Hollywood's leading ladies, starring alongside Gregory Peck, Paul Newman and Kirk Douglas.

Born in London in 1929, Simmons began her career at the age of 14, when she was plucked from a dance class to make her movie debut in the 1944 British production Give Us the Moon.

She then appeared in several minor British films before her breakthrough role in Great Expectations, followed by Black Narcissus and then Hamlet in 1948, where she earned an Oscar nomination.

The actress also proved her mettle playing Desiree to Marlon Brando's Napoleon, appearing alongside him again in Guys and Dolls in 1955.

She picked up a second Oscar nomination for 1969's The Happy Ending, before moving largely to television roles in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Simmons' first marriage was to fellow British film star Stewart Granger, who she met on the set of Caesar and Cleopatra.

The couple had been befriended by reclusive tycoon Howard Hughes in LA, who arranged their marriage in Tucson, Arizona.

However the pair divorced in 1960, with Simmons going on to marry Richard Brooks, who had directed her in Elmer Gantry.

Their marriage, which produced a daughter, Kate, ended in divorce in 1977.

  5. Did Adebayor run the length of the bus to celebrate in front of the gunners again?

    ;):icon_lol:

    I've had that texted twice.

The top and bottom of it is you can't trust these third world mugs, especially the most wank of the third world nations where they have a monkey holding a pineapple on their flag. No World Cup should be in Africa or Asia, if it was up to me every world cup would be in Northern Europe it's the only chance on minimalising the terrorist threat.

You cant say that just because some football players have been shot in a third world country. Your judging the whole of Asia and Africa on one shooting by the sound of that. Look at Dubai, China & Korea, I am pretty sure Turkey is safe enough too. Every World Cup should be in Northern Europe? What about USA, Mexico and places alike?

  6. ... Gets stuck in pipe.

A MAN had to have his penis cut free by SEVEN firefighters after he got it stuck in a steel PIPE.

The crew used a METAL GRINDER for the delicate 30-minute operation, after doctors at Southampton General Hospital tried to release him without success.

The medics failed because the restricted blood flow had caused the man to become aroused.

A crew from the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service used the four-and-a-half-inch grinder to cut the pipe free on Tuesday morning.

Afterwards, the patient was given an anaesthetic and although his willy was left bruised and swollen it was otherwise unharmed.

The anxious man aged about 40 failed to explain how the pipe had become stuck.

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said today: "Initially the crew did not have the appropriate cutting equipment to free the man.

"It was a very delicate operation that required a very steady hand and the crew was worried about things getting too hot during the cutting.

"It's certainly an unusual call-out and I'm sure the man won't be getting into that situation again."

  9. Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been fined over a drunken disturbance in Newcastle.

The 42-year-old was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the Jesmond area of the city in the early hours.

He was taken into custody and later received a fixed-penalty notice, said Northumbria Police.

The ex-Newcastle and Tottenham player has faced a long battle with alcohol, and last year was detained twice under the Mental Health Act.

In a BBC interview earlier this year, he said he had been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and claimed to have been clean of drink or drugs for four months.

    Gifted midfielder

He said: "In the past every time I left rehab I thought I'm going to have a drink and I had no thought of that this time.

"I am a different Paul now."

Gascoigne began his career at Newcastle in 1985, and in 1988 transferred to Tottenham for £2.3m, having played 99 games and scored 25 goals.

He shot to fame during the 1990 World Cup in Italy, when he helped England to the World Cup semi-finals.

The gifted midfielder retired in 2004, after which his addiction to drugs and alcohol spiralled out of control.
