  1. This happens every transfer window - how many times has this cunt come out and said the same shite now - he isn't good enough for arsenal and I doubt psg could afford his wages(may be wrong with the euro and that now like) he is a decent player who never quite fulfilled the potential he displayed as a youngster but its not like he has some extraordinary talent - another laurent robert for me - too much gob - will leave and fade into insignificance

Not half the player that Robert was for us.

Your right there i was only making the comparison cos robert left after letting his gob go then pretty much vanished into the ether

To be fair, Robert was 30 when he left, and with the odd exception, there's not many top-class wingers beyond that age. N'Zogbia is 22...I'd say Bernard's career would be a better comparison.

  2. .

Are you also saying that it isn't harder to get quality in in January? Perhaps you could put up a list of quality players that have been signed in the January window to back up your point. I'll start you off with Woodgate and Reyes.

    John Carew & Ashley Young.

  3. Also bearing in mind that technically until we spend the Milner money we're still at £0 or -£12m depending on how you look at it.

Transfers in and out since summer 2007.

    In.

    Mark Viduka (Middlesbrough - Free)

Joey Barton (Man City - £5.8m)

    David Rozehnal (PSG - £2.7m)

    Geremi (Chelsea - Free)

Alan Smith (Man Utd - £6m)

    Cacapa (Lyon - Free)

    Jose Enrique (Villarreal - £6.3m)

    Habib Beye (Marseille - £2.5m)

    Abdoulaye Faye (Bolton - £2m)

    Tamas Kadar (Zalaegerszegi - £900k)

    Fabio Zamblera (Atalanta - £300k)

Jonas Gutierrez (Real Mallorca - Undisc)

    Danny Guthrie (Liverpool - £2.5m)

Fabricio Coloccini (Deportivo La Coruna - £10.3m)

    Nile Ranger (Southampton - Free)

Xisco (Deportivo La Coruna - £5.7m)

    Aaron Spear (Plymouth - £250k)

    Out.

    Olivier Bernard (Released)

    Titus Bramble (Wigan - Free)

Craig Moore (Queensland Roar - Free)

    Pavel Srnicek (Released)

    Antoine Sibierski (Wigan - Free)

Scott Parker (West Ham - £7m)

    Alan O'Brien (Hibs - Free)

Kieron Dyer (West Ham - £7m)

    Paul Huntington (Leeds - Undisclosed)

Nolberto Solano (West Ham - Free)

    Albert Luque (Ajax - £2m)

    Celestine Babayaro (Released)

    David Rozehnal (Lazio - £2.9m)

    Emre (Fenerbahce - Undisc)

    Abdoulaye Faye (Stoke - £2.25m)

James Milner (Aston Villa - £12m)

The only two transfer fees who seem a mystery are Gutierrez & Emre, so let's just say they were the same (although I'd imagine we'll have spent, or will end up spending more on Jonas than we sold Emre for), that means...

    Net Spend - £12.1m

Of course that's still not a great amount, but I'd imagine most of the Milner money at the very least will be spent in the January window taking that to around £20m.

  4. You have to wonder what sort of media roasting Keegan would have got had he been in charge of yesterdays rout.

"Tactical nativity" would have been mentioned at least 3 times in every story about it.

Will do a Google search for the 5-1 home defeat to Man Utd and compare the two.

  5. Owen ran around a bit yesterday.

Kuyt ran around a bit yesterday as well.

However, Kuyt had his midfielders flooding forward en massse at every opportunity supporting him. Nuff said.

Our problem is central midfield, not Michael Owen, not the back four, not the wingers .(imo).

    In a nutshell really.

  6. Considering Ashley's a penny pinching cunt, I'm worried.

We seem to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all but 5m for Shay, 4m for Owen, 6m for N'Zogbia plus the 1m each they will take for Butt and Harper and Ashley will be rubbing his hands together seeing 20m in his pocket.

I hope I'm wrong but somehow I just don't think so.

And you just know somewhere in it all they are going to blame having to pay KK his wedge as part of their justification.

Serious question, but who have we sold under Ashley that's suggested "penny pinching".

We bought and sold Rozehnal & Faye for pretty much the same fee, remember seeing somewhere we actually made a profit on Emre, and let's face it, we ripped Villa off for Milner and West Ham for Dyer & Parker. (remember when we agreed a fee with them, then Ashley cancelled it increasing the price at the last-minute and eventually won that battle).

For all of his criticisms, selling players at knock down prices hasn't been one of them.

  7. Didn't see the incident, but surely what a load of bullshit him getting a yellow. 5-1 with seconds to go. Yeah nice one ref! fucking jobsworth.

Kicked the ball into where the old SKY boxes used to be. Fully deserved the yellow. But a magnificent display today. Three outstanding saves in first 20 minutes.

I thought the ref was excellant today and reffed it how it used to be reffed years ago. Other refs would have been booking shitloads today.

He could have easily sent Taylor off as well for the "challenge" on Reina.

  8. Why do many continue to post about that we will sign duds for peanuts?

I am no Ashley fanboy but why are you so sure he will invest nowt and that it will be shite players? Colo, Guti, Bassong and Guthrie (for the money paid for him) have all been good signings so far. Admittedly Xisco and Speedy were panic buys (though I would still give Xisco a chance as he came with a semi-decent reputation). If Ashley etc bring in players that are of the same standard as Bassong, Colo and Guti I couldnt care if it cost them 2 million or 20 million tbh..

Talking about this today. I genuinely dont get all the stick thrown at Wise for anything other than being Dennis wise? Sure, he was a little prick as a footballer, but I really know fuck all else about him or what he does or doesnt do for this club. I couldnt argue to get rid of him as I dont knnow what he is or isnt to blame for. Our chairman is another matter, I hold him responsible for communicating with the fans (Llambias) and at the moment that side of the club is amongst the worse I can remember. Half of the problems come out of the way things are or arent communicated from the club.

Agree with both of these posts.

  9. Perhaps this is what brought on N'Zogbia's quotes yesterday. He's seeing wingers no better, if not worse than him like Johnson, Pennant & Lennon being linked with Real Madrid, has seen his close friend from the Le Havre Academy join them last week, was linked with Spurs under Ramos, and is hoping his name's next on the list.

  10. It's shocking the amount of abuse Xisco gets btw.

Agreed, Has he been given even half a chance?

[tin hat] Reminds me of another spaniad striker. [/tinhat]

We never signed him despite a few on the forums wanting him.

And anyway, even though he played in La Liga he was Turkish.

  11. we've made an offer of 8 million euros for the blerk.

Haven't got used to the brave new world - I thought hmm - about £5m - no - thats £8m.

Hahaha, yeah I'm getting used to that now. When I saw Diarra to Madrid for €20m I was thinking, £14m is a lot of money when in fact it's still just under £20m!
