Steve Harper has played better for me since Given had that nasty one against West-Ham. The defence just seem more confident with Harper behind them for some reason. Communication? I have no idea and although Given is still one of the best shot-stoppers around the flaws in his game may keep the defence from reaching it's potential =/

I think it was a shame Enrique didn't play at left back as for me he has been our most consistent defensive performer along with Roz this season. Beye has looked pretty suspect for me and Taylor didn't do all that badly at RB, we needed his physical presence at times yesterday even though he didn't have the best of games.
Enrique at LB, Zog on the left wing, Milner on the right wing. It's plain for all to see and BS has to do this asap. The trouble he has is what we have had at CM for many many seasons, lots of average players to choose from in there and pairings that are either not physical enough or not creative enough. We need to find the right balance, under Roeder Butt and Emre worked well together at times especially in games where Emre had a lot of the ball. With Ashely's pet Smith and that thug Barton in there BS is going to find it hard not to keep upsetting them so is he just going to bow down to pressure and keep playing these mediocre 6-million pound players out of position?
Owen is a goalscorer that needs service and he is not getting it, plain for all to see. Viduka is not going to win every ball in the air in the Prem these days. He needs it to feet, has to have the freedom to play like Kanu has at Pompey because that's his game.

What's good about Arshavin is his work-rate and versatility, can play on either wing, off a striker, or pulling the strings in the middle. He's like Milner but with pace and a better eye for a pass and captain of his country =) We are just crying out for more pace on the wing and more creativity and Arshavin would give us both. Until we hear Sam talking about him or Riquelme then I won't get my hopes up but fingers crossed...

I hope to heck that he starts instead of Smith. I can't help but wonder that Sam bought Smith as a favour to Fergie. Fergie probably bullied him into it and because BS is in such awe of him he gave in =/

No he wouldn't for me.
I see his best position as being one of the wide forwards in a 4-3-3 but unfortunately we don't have that athletic, strong, target man to pull this one off =/ Would love to see Zog and Duff as the wide forwards if we got a Drogba-esque palyer in but this won't happen. Would have him in CM ahead of Barton at this stage of the game, ~Barton obviously needs a couple more reserve games under his belt.

we need a powerful and athletic frontman who is great in the air, someone like Kenwyne Jones would be perfect judging by what I've seen of him this season. A bit more pace on the wing would be welcome, maybe that geezer Giles Barnes, that lad has a bit of magic and pace. Our side is so one-paced, especially when the likes of Smith, Milner, Geremi, Barton and Butt are in the midfield or attack. Pace is an important factor in what seperates the top sides from the rest IMO.
