SYDNEY, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Former England striker Stan Collymore is considering a move to join Australian A-League team the Newcastle Jets on a four-match contract, the Sydney Telegraph reported on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old Collymore retired five years ago following spells with Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Leicester City and Spanish club Real Oviedo.
'His management have told me that he is definitely interested in doing something in Australia because he has seen what Dwight Yorke has done here,' Jets director of football Remo Nogarotto told the paper.
Yorke, the Trinidad & Tobago and former Manchester United striker, recently returned to England with Sunderland after a successful spell with Sydney.
'We have expressed interest in him and we've expressed interest to his management but we are a long way short of finalising anything at the moment,' Nogarotto said.
Collymore, who appeared last year with actress Sharon Stone in the film Basic Instinct II, won three England caps.
He has been no stranger to controversy off the pitch, admitting to punching his former girlfriend Ulrika Jonsson, the British TV celebrity, in 1998 and suffering bouts of depression.
Meanwhile, Sydney have been linked with a move for 35-year-old Italian forward Benito Carbone, and Adelaide United are reportedly considering a bid to sign 40-year-old former Brazil striker Romario on a short-term contract.

I`m now in Tokyo. Big, smelly place. Although...
I found this season`s third strip in a `soccer` store. I`m assuming i hasn`t been released in England yet? And it`s fairly cheap. So I`m wondering if it`s genuine, though it does have the adidas holograph thing that`s on the other shirts. Anyway I`m amazed I found it amongst all the Man Utd crap.

Well I`m sitting here in the hotel lobby in Kyoto, fuckin hot and humid. The locals are real polite. Plus it`s so clean. I`ll try and post some photos in a few days.

Being my first overseas trip, the fact that I hate flying and having just seen Snakes on a Plane today, I'm feeling a little bit edgy.
Oh, and I can't speak Japanese. This is gonna be fun!

They have play offs in the A-League, Adelaide Utd dominated all the way through the league season then fucked up at the end so they weren't champions.
As much as I hate Adelaide, like a laugh at their expense and think the city is a toilet, it's proof that the whole playoff thing just doesn't work and doesn't reward the true champions.

By several premiership clubs I'm assuming they mean Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool (and probably us) as they see it as the only way they'll get their hands on the title in the near future.
