  1. I'm surprised no one has posted the one where Suddick pulled down somebody's shorts during a free-kick, or the one of Vinny Jones grabbing Gazza's bollocks.
  2. Aha! it seems to me Mr. Gemmill that I have brought this point up before, just what the fuck do they mean by 'not match fit'? to my knowledge he has played at least 2 games for the reserves, maybe more, and in a 'behind closed doors' match, and in full training. I would prefer a less than match-fit Bernard to imminent Damage
  3. If that's true then I propose Mr. Renton be appointed as their leader and mentor. Do I hear a second to the motion? Oh dear, is your only recourse to my points about your opinions in the other thread to insult me in this one? Of course not Mr. Renton, you just seem so well informed on so many issues I thought you would be the ideal person to educate the dim-wits, a class to which I do belong to nowadays.
  4. Neither is a good wank, and I see there at least 3 wankers on here

On balance no Obagol, had I not experienced sunny climates in far away places and become a sun-worshipper I doubt very much that I would have left England as there was no other pull. In actual fact if the Tyneside had been blessed with California weather I would not have left. I can't honestly say that I prefer California except for the weather, there are so many things I miss but the pull now is family. My children and grandchildren are American born, I left a family behind once before and don't think I could do it again even though my love of good weather has faded along with my tan.

My dear Mr.Renton, you have obviously gone completely bananas and should weigh-up the idea of seeking help from someone familiar with the woes of your pedantic affliction. 1: I did not leave because I prefer California to the UK; I left to live in a place that had a lot more sunshine. FACT. 2: It's true I live and pay taxes elsewhere BUT, I receive a small OAP from the British government which is automatically deposited into my Barclays savings account at the Coatsworth Road, Gateshead branch. Taxes are automatically taken out of interest earned which would refute your ass inine remark that I have no stake in Britain as far as YOU are concerned. FACT. 3: As for 'British identity' I'm not surprised you don't understand what I mean, methinks thou wouldst prefer to be called European rather than British. Attitude such as yours lost us the Empire.

OK, I was harsh, but I do find it really odds the people who are most nostalgic are very often the same people who have emigrated. If you are so fond of quaint old-fashioned department stores in city centres, why have you chosen to live in probably the most car-dependent place on Earth? And what is so good about the confusing imperial system and pre-decimilisation currency, or common-wealth passports? For your info Mr.Renton I left 'home' because after a few years in the Merchant Navy I grew accustomed to lovely sunshine and decided that I wanted to live in a place where the sun shone a lot more than it did in the UK and I chose Southern California. Had I not liked it there or couldn't settle the plan was to move on to New Zealand. Most immigrants leave for reasons of oppression, high taxation, job opportunities, housing problems, joining family members, or job transfers etc, but not I, sunshine was my motivation. And for the record, I have not become an American citizen, nor will I ever unless they change the Oath of Allegiance so you do not have to absolutely and entirely renounce allegiance and fidelity to any other state or sovereignty. Perhaps you're right about expats being more nostalgic than most but that's probably because they think of 'home' and the way it was when they lived there and hence don't take kindly to changes that destroy as I call it 'the British identity'.

As an expat Geordie who left the Tyneside 47 years ago to find a place in the sun(Southern California) I've always felt this tinge of sadness when I learn of what I consider loss of "British Identity" and it really doesn't relate to 'keeping up with the times' although I can understand some of the necessary changes for world trade etc. I was sad at the change to decimal money and the loss of words like 'half a croon, thrupenny bit, ha'penny. I was sad at the change to the metric system and the loss of words like; yards, feet, & inches(2 bob a foot has a nice ring) I was sad at the loss of words like; gills, pints, & gallons. I was sad at the loss of words like; pounds & ounces(quarter of sherbet lemons please) I was sad when the "Durham Light Infantry" became no more. I was sad when my 'British Passport' became a 'European Union' one. I could go on but these are what I refer to as loss of 'British Identity' things that were totally 'British' FFS. You're happy to leave the UK but want us to cling to all these archaic units and customs in your absence? For the record, a lot of the things you mention there are still in usage anyway - last time I was in a pub it was still a pint. Personally I think the sooner we get rid of the ridiculous imperial system and integrate fully with Europe the better, I like my European passport. As for the co-op, it's a shame, but if anything it's a victim of the rampant market forces that we have gained from your adopted country. It means there will be no decent supermarket in the city centre, instead we will all be forced to drive to out of town developments, Californian style! My word Mr.Renton, I do believe we have a pedantic verbalist among us.
  10. Try some drops of Almond Oil.
  11. Ramage IS NOT a left back and his performences in that position are far from adequate and I have to question Roeder's insistance in playing him there albeit Babayaro is apparently injured. Bernard IS a left fullback as we all know and I have to question his being NOT match-fit. He has been turning out for the reserves and is obviously in training so just how unfit is he? I have to question Roeder's reluctance to give him a try, he can always be substituted if he's not cutting it. Bernard should start ahead of Ramage whether he is match-fit or not, and I have to question what is Roeder's reasoning for not seeing the sense in that and giving it a try. Roeder should have kept Robbie Elliot for the contingencies we are now facing in the left-back position. Why hasn't Roeder straightened out the under-performing defenders? I would have thought a former centre-half of some renown should be able to do that.

Just had an e-mail from a cousin whose daughter works for the Co-Op and she says that the Co-Op store on Newgate Street and the one in Gateshead are up for sale. Sad isn't it when stores and company's you've grown up with and known all your life disappear, more British identity lost
  14. Not looking good is it? Ten. Fucking. MILLION. Pounds. Maybe my rational and way of looking at things is a bit different to others. Forget the lack of service, forget the long-ball game, forget the short-passing game, and look at what Martins does when he has sole pocession of the ball and the opportunity to stamp HIS mark on the game. I'm afraid he is not impressing me with his indvidual skills at taking on defenders, holding up the ball, looking dangerous when in pocession, and trying to get the shot in, which is what we want to see from our No.9's. Ten fucking Million pounds might not be money well spent!
  15. Not true, Carr was responsible for the first one.

Seems to me that once upon a time it was quite common to see business-men with bowler-hats and wielding brollies like walking-sticks, especially in London, and it seems to me I'd rather be dry than wet & vain

    Joe Cole

Liked him when he was a youngster at West Ham, thought he had the talent to go far, still like him. To me he's the only one who has some flair in his play, a bit like Gazza.
  21. I'm retired but my last job was Production Manager for a company that built above-ground portable spas(hot-tubs), before that I spent about 25 years in production management in yacht building for various sail-boat companies. Seems like I was always near water
