  1. Best one I saw was this minging woman come in to the 'surgery' and say that she had a problem with piles.

Doctor Jesson or what ever he's called got her fat arse out, spread her arse cheeks and said "No they are anal warts, you contract them through sex"

So not only did this woman get her minging fat arse out on telly but millions of people knew she loved it up the hoop - classic!

Ewww :puke: God what is the matter with people? That program is disgusting, especially if you're eating or just eaten your tea! Like someone else said, these morons won't go to their docs but don't mind showing their revolting body parts on the TV??!! And that male doctor is far too ugly to be on TV anyway, grosse.

  2. As KSA said, musical art forms are born from communities and circumstance, when those communities and circumstances change or no longer exist, the music itself becomes a community which carries the culture forward. The genre's ability to evolve is determined by its creative strength which is pretty much immeasurable but must be based on size of the community and structures or parameters of the art form i.e. how the genre is defined (e.g. electrically amplified guitar music). Once the boundaries of the genre are set, the community can carry it forward creating sub-genres that somehow dont break the boundaries. You can cross-reference to each sub-genre (punk rock, grungey punk rock, indie rock etc) but at a certain point, the boundaries of the art form will have been fully explored due to the limits imposed by the genre's definition. There are only so many ways you can play chords on a guitar.

I dont believe jazz is dead as its freeform, experimental improvisation allows the community of jazz musicians to constantly innovate and provides a broader palette of tools. I dont believe the blues is dead either because of its strong links to modern r'n'b & hip-hop. I dont really think rock is dead either, its just not that vibrant and one of the most rigidly adhered to formats. The strongest and most vibrant musical genres are the ones which are constantly innovating. Rock's great period of innovation is over so thats why i said 'as an art form' its dead which is maybe a bit strong but sort of true until someone new and distinct comes along.

Exactly right and very well put!

  3. The gig's tonight, so you best get your skates on. I'll meet you at Washington Services.

    Thank you :panic:

I'd not drive to Exeter Serves for a ticket to see them...you're doing the right thing by giving it a miss imo ;)

  4. We're fucking it off. Been away the past couple of nights and can't be chewed with the hassle of trying to get to Sunderland and back. Traffic getting in and out of town is mental and it's only lunchtime ffs.

Trying to sell the tickets now if anyone wants them. Will deliver.

    How far? <_<

  5. Good shout TR.

Although most of the remembrance , understandably, is for those who died ( in Normandy and on Slapton sands) , I personally doff my cap to every single one of the men and women who took part.

What amazes me is that they went through something as horrific and brutal as this , and when the war was over , most just went back home and carried on with their lives.

That's not to say that many weren't mentally scarred by it, but the general impression is that they dusted themselves down and went back to being butchers, bakers, shipbuilders etc.

Having said that,I watched an incredibly moving documentary the other day about a German machine gunner, it was calculated that he'd killed over 800 (i think)men on the day of the landings, something which haunted him.

He managed to track down one the US servicemen who'd landed on his patch of beach and survived. The US guy had become a military chaplain and then a civvy vicar.

The programme makers , clearly wanting the money shot, reunited them , in their eighties, back on the beach. Not unexpectedly the German broke down in the arms of his former target. Still very moving.

Heartbreaking. I think I have seen that or something very similar.

  6. Do they not just play the hits and stuff when they tour nowadays? I've had this in my head all day!

More or less I suppose... the setlist differs whether they are playing in America or over here. Like Joe says, people expect them to play certain hit songs, like Sugar, Hysteria, Animal, Rock of ages. He must get sick of it too! If you listen to his Planet Rock show on Saturdays at 6pm he plays some great music (not hit songs) and every other week he plays a Leppard song that isnt so well known. The Rock of Ages movie is out soon :yucky: where Tom Cruise sings Pour some sugar....god, all the good songs the Leps have done over the years and they choose that one  So because of that DL have released newly recorded versions of Sugar and Rock of Ages.

I dont think Rock is dead, if anything it's experiencing a resurgence. Loads of old bands touring, DL recently toured with Motlery Crue. And there seems to be more rock festivals now than ever! And Lady Gaga is touring with The Darkness!! :o (though not sure if The Darkness is Rock lol)

    EDIT.

Bonamental...this was filmed by a fan last night at a little warm up gig by DL. Its for a yuotube show that goes out tonight at 8pm. Considering its their first show for alittle while, I thought they sounded pretty good!!

  7. And whilst we are remembering, give a thought to those who lost their lives in 'Exercise Tiger' here in Devon at Slapton Sands. A rehearsal operation for D Day. Lives were lost through friendly fire and on the following day when there was an attack by nine German E boats. Much of the real facts of this disaster were lost due to the incidents having to be hushed up being so close to the real invasion. Survivors where sworn to secrecy.

We occasionally walk along Slapton Sands, a Sherman Tank stands at Torcross at the Southern end of the sands to commemorate the event. ( that and the memorial plaque are only there, because of the efforts in the 70's and 80's by a Devon resident)

  8. Well if we can have a thread for the Eurovision we can have one for Soccer Aid. Actually these matches have been quite watchable in the past. Program starts 6pm Sunday 27th May ITV1, not sure what time kick off is, probably 7.30pm.

  9. MF, you are bringing your daughter up properly I see! I bought my son up the same! Although Rock is my thing, I'm also a massive Take That fan, they are fantastic live, great singers/dancers/entertainers. But Mark Owen was pretty rocky in his solo career, I adore his voice, its much better live than on a record. So moving. Try this,

    Mark Owen-Wasting away

  10. Get on! I love you JawD  You cant beat The Leps. You cant argue the fact they have sold millions of albums in their time. Though I do prefer their early stuff except for one or two gems. They are not all about Pour some sugar crap!

Go on, give these 3 a listen

Def Leppard-Paper sun (without doubt one of their best songs ever)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-epIYeljoI&feature=related

    Def Leppard-Desert song

    Def Leppard-Pearl of Euphoria
