Anyone know about speeding it up? Whenever Im soing any kind of formatting (Bold, margins, borders etc), it seems to sit for 10 seconds before executing. Not long, but infuriating what trying to format a page. Im not sure if there is some option to turn off?

Cheers

The problem of SLOW open, save, and close of Excel is actually quite common. The solution is to delete all of your *.emf files. These are temporary files created by excel each time you open, add, change, etc... an Excel file. Over time, not only does your pc accumulate a lot of these files, but they can also become corrupt. If you use Excel often (which most of us do), you'll want to check for and delete these *.emf files. - I think only the emf files in the Locall Settings/TEMP directory are the ones to delete...............................

Another possible reason for the slow response time of formatting or anything to do with appearance could be the printer settings for you workbooks. For some reason, Excel will look to see what kind of printer it would possibly be printing to, and it may even check the status of the printer (to see if it is online or offline). Most likely, you are printing to a network printer when connected to the network so there is no difficulty for Excel to look for printer information. When you are disconnected from the network Excel cannot find the printer. To solve this problem, you can setup a fake local printer and choose that as the printer to print to when you are away from the network.
