Internationals:

Ryan's Danish double delight!

England U17s got their Nordic Championships off to a winning start on Monday with a 2-0 success against Iceland in Denmark.

Scorer of both England goals was Magpies forward Ryan Donaldson, who marked his international debut with two second half goals despite high winds and driving rain.

Donaldson turned 16 in May after a memorable first season for our U18 side, which saw him net 11 times in 14 appearances and break into the reserves.

Up next for England are Finland on Tuesday, followed by Sweden on Thursday.

He's very young, but Donaldson seems a decent prospect. Playing against lads who must be much bigger than him. 15 years old and scoring for International U-17's and playing for our reserves against highly experienced players. LuaLua also gets some very high praise from people at that level.

Our youth system has started to produce lately-not to an incredibly high standard, but to a level where we've been able to use players from our academy. A good run in the youth FA Cup last season also points to a somewhat promising future. I know a lot of players at that level won't even remain in football within the next 5 years, but it's been great to see so many young players breaking through over the last couple of years. Carrol looks the most exciting prospect of the lot, and I was so suprised to see him unfazed against Chelsea last season, and on Sunday he was all over Buffon on his clearances and just being a dick in general! Troisi has also looked a good prospect for the right wing.

Noteabley : Ameobi, Chopra, Taylor, Huntington, Ramage, O' Brien, Edgar, Carrol, Pattison, Kerr, K. LuaLua(?) have all come through our ranks to go on to play Premiership football. Obviously, some of those players, aren't/weren't cut out for that level, but they've come and filled in for us when we've needed it. Chopra has gone on and brought us in a fee too(O'Brien also?).

Does anyone know of any further prospects coming though, or maybe players from the current crop who you feel wont make it?
