Potential chaos! Clubs face bedlam if FIFA tear up agents charter

Licensing for football agents may be abolished next season, spelling potential chaos for clubs and players.

An FA circular to all licensed agents in England says it is possible that from October 2011 ‘requirements for individuals to become licensed agents will no longer apply’.

It follows a FIFA review of agents’ regulations and feedback from a working group suggests that the current system will be replaced.

The move could open the door for unscrupulous agents, with clubs powerless to determine where their money goes.

Would-be agents are sitting licensing exams tomorrow and have been warned the qualification could be worthless next year.

An FA spokesperson said: ‘We cannot comment on the specifics of any draft proposals at this time as consultations remain ongoing.’

this is bad.`
