  5. Other than just paying to be on the advertising hoardings in a PL ground like any other company. If it was more cost effective and less hassle than just doing that (it's pretty obvious to me it isn’t) then other companies would buy PL sides just to save on advertising budget. The free advertising is clearly a bonus he’s capitalising on but the figures just don’t add up for it to be the sole reason he owns the club.

  8. We only need 3 players to kick on ffs, it's baffling. A striker, CB and a backup full back and we can kick on. Don't even think we need a no.10 as we created chances a plenty last season, it's putting them away that was our problem. The twats dithered and didn't bother increasing the offer for Pléa, one of Rafa's top targets allegedly and a player that would've excited me and a few other fans had we signed him and missed out to a midtable Bundesliga side. Now we're going for Rondon. It's beyond anger now for me, it's complete boredom. Hopefully I get into uni next year as I can't be arsed with this shitshow for much longer.

  13. I don’t disagree in that it may be why he’s holding onto the club. I mean I don’t think it makes any financial sense to hold onto the club just for free advertising but that doesn’t preclude it from being a reason in the unpredictable mind of Mike Ashley. And I think he’ll view it similar to how you’ve stated it re: staying up and the club effectively costing nothing. The bizarre aspect to that is the inherent risk you refer to, I.e. his ‘just survive’ policy has been proven not once but twice to be ineffective at great personal cost to him so why the fuck he would bank on that is beyond me. Finally, he’s got approximately £300m sitting in us. Just supposing he did need that money and even ignoring we might not be in the premier league, how often do people come along with serious intention of buying a club like ours? We’ve probably had one in the 10 years or so he’s owned the club. Again, it makes no fucking sense. Risky game alreet

  16. This was in the Rafa thread: I think this is actually one of the things he is looking for when he sells and besides the price, it is a huge obstacle for any potential buy. Unlike the fucking idiot, owners of football clubs want to be able to grow their commercial brand/revenue and being tied to free advertising, which no doubt he wants it all, shirt, stadium, naming rights - no one in their right mind would agree to. Also I think he stripped so many physical assets out of the club's ownership (and into MASH) and run the playing squad down so much, that any buyer knows that they are going to need a lot of investment over and above his ridiculous asking price. He's painted the club into a corner with his greed and ignorance and once a buyer does due diligence they will tell him to fuck off. Trooper, this has been obvious since day one, I think even the cunt that got us into this situation, John Hall, said it in an interview after he sold the club from under fat Freddy but it's not the only reason why Ashley won't invest, that's purely because the man is a cunt.

  20. Perfectly put, Howay. They’ll still be discussing the renaissance on RTG whilst Donald & Co are finalising their plans for a housing estate on the training ground

  21. Aye, the plan seemed to be just get control of it and then figure out how to get the backing. A really fucking idiotic plan, which I hope and expect will spectacularly backfire and see that rotten, fucking cesspool of a football club even lower down the league. To a level far more befitting that shit show of a town.
