  1. I always love it when a player announces their retirement about 4 years after it happened

  5. I see they are trying to discuss the overcrowding on Saturday completely missing/ignoring the fact that the overcrowding was occuring in the access areas but blaming fans for not sitting in allocated seats, to be fair a few of them pointed out that it was in tunnel but most of the thick cunts are too stupid to work it out. I.ve been there three times once before the disaster which was very scary with a packed out away end....then a couple of time since and not alot has changed, it should be demolised and rebuilt

  6. Edwards reckoned the club thanked him in the past window for lowering expectations. Even if that were true (seems unlikely tbh) you’re talking about a journalist bragging because he was fed duff info which he then put into his articles. He’s a strange one like

  7. Aye exactly. I honestly started to spiral a bit after the call I had with my old boss. I obviously making it all about me then feeling guilty about doing that which compounds the anxiety and blurgh), but I come back to that, what's it called? Prayer of Serenity or something? "Have the courage to change the things I can change, the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference." Honestly had second thoughts about posting this for fear of being mocked, but then I realised that, on here, that ship has sailed, discovered new lands, and been ridiculed by the locals.

  8. "I was in the Sistine chapel on my lunch & and I saw Micky clarting on stretching a canvas, I said listen bonny lad don't bother with that, hop up their & paint the ceiling & we'll get away for a pint. The rest is history"

  9. Wood did a job for last season. He was part of an unbeaten team and worked hard in defence at set pieces. His move to us also weakened a relegation rival. I wouldn't therefore call his move a failure.

  12. It’s difficult to say if he was genuinely struggling at Burnley or that was the team as well. But it can’t have helped his confidence. Someone else mentioned imposter syndrome which is definitely a thing with certain players. As is the ability to handle playing in front of large crowds. Look at players who clearly liked playing in empty stadiums due to covid. There’s an expectation here now going forward. Is Chris Wood just shite? I don’t think he is. We got him because he was available and the circumstances but Howe still must’ve seen something in him otherwise we’d have looked elsewhere. Does Chris Wood believe he’s good enough to play in front of 52k fans for a team that could soon be in the Champions League? I don’t think he does. I hope he gets a decent move in the summer because he probably needs to move in for his own sake as well as from a selfish NUFC pov.

  14. Just got to hope we find our scoring boots. 3 games without a win is a blip for us given our recent form and we need to get back on track tomorrow night

  17. You reckon? Burn at left back was a big call by the manager that not many of us were making. For a while the consensus was Targett should return. He did nothing wrong last season and is the more natural full back. Howe was vindicated though. Burn’s defensive attributes let him slot in as an extra centre back when Tripper advances further up the pitch on the other side. He continued to play Longstaff when many of us would have moved Joelinton back into central midfield, where he’s had his best games for us. And on paper ASM should have been more involved. Fair play to Howe. He knows what he’s doing

  18. Well yeah, agreed. But we’ve still only scored in three from five. That’s not all down to the quality of the squad overall is it, as you say at this stage of the project? They were scoring for fun before the WC break and it’s still the same players… The squad is what it is. We’re not finishing chances in all games. That’s the story of the restart. Not winning a one off cup game where we made 7 changes to the starting line up isn’t where we should be focusing our critical gaze iyam. Yes we looked ropey at the back and ineffective in midfield . We still created enough chances to win the game as we gave done in all games since we’ve come back bar maybe Arsenal. Fix that and we’re all good again. Barring injuries that might let these frightful reserve team players in 🙄 Let me ask a question. Why does Chris Wood look like a Sunday league player in front of goal at the moment? Where the fuck has any semblance of confidence he may have had disappeared to? Because if Eddie Howe is this all conquering utterly unreal coach he’d be able to sort that right out shouldn’t he?…,please don’t read that as a criticism of Eddie Howe or Chris Wood for that matter. They’re both only human and I think beneath the instant reaction post game and recriminations the day after for hours on end we forget that. These are people with human failings. He visibly shrinks when he gets a chance now, and Jacob Murphy isn’t far behind him. Neither are anywhere near good enough for where we’re going, but they’ve gone backwards since the restart iyam. Under Eddie Howe. It doesn’t make any sense does it? Yes we can say “they’re both shit get rid NOW!” but that’s unlikely to happen this month . I don’t pretend to have any answers but two days of lamenting the squad that Ashley and Bruce built isn’t identifying what we can change to start scoring more goals again. Because I can’t see us singing another centre forward this month either. We’ll see.

  21. exactly. It’s easy to dismiss them all as shite and unfit to wear the shirt ever again when 8 are thrown in at the same time, completely disrupting the balance of the side in the process. Krafth and Manquillo - even Wood - came in to cover injuries last season and did okay because they were playing alongside better players

  22. Excellent news. I think this vindicates the decision to rest a lot of players for the FA Cup match in my opinion. All in on the League Cup.

  24. Seems Matty is also dense to go along with being a fucking crap footballer. Matty has definitely seen worse, and he had the perfect view seeing as they were off his own boot #divvie #bellend

  25. Ah well, that’s that. Btw he has his usual massive caveat in the comments by basically saying “they might make some unexpected moves in the last 10 days” .

  26. I think his price tag put a fairly sized burden on his shoulders and when he didn't get off the scoresheet for 2 months it just added to the pressure. I don't think he's specifically a bad player - a goal every other game at Leeds and 1 goal in 3 at Burnley suggests there's something there; I just don't think Chris Wood & Newcastle United has worked - sometimes it happens where a player and club don't gel. Many examples of this over the years - Keane at Liverpool; Shevchenko at Chelsea & Bergkamp at Inter are examples that spring to mind.

  29. an 8th place finish would have been fine before the season started. it would be disappointing if that's where we end up after the way we started the season, but even if it were to happen it'd still represent progress. i think it's unlikely but not impossible. we're seeing signs that our pre-world cup form might be slowing and it could become entrenched if we were to lose tripper, bruno and botman to long-term injury. i think we will sign at least a couple of quality players this window though to offset the inevitable injuries/slump in form. i also trust howe to work with an improve the reserve players were one or two called upon to plug gaps for a period of weeks or months, just as he did with krafth last season.

  30. So my external lights have switches next to the ir respective doors, with the front one having an automatic sensor (I could get this fitted for the back doors as well). If for some odd reason I want to go ut in the garden after dark, I flick them on. No effort, works. It strikes me like with your useless Roomba you are looking for solutions for problems that don't exist. And probably cauing unintended problems. For instance, What If you want to go out to observe the night sky? You'd have to go to the effort of disabling your Alexa routines, rather than just not flicking a switch. Oh.

  31. hasn’t he pretty much said we we’d barely spend any money in every window so far because of FFP only for us to eventually spunk about twice what he was predicting? More of the same please, Luke. I feel like chicken tonight

  32. Howe made a comment about Isak benefitting from the full warm-up as part of the starting 11 - less risky than a sub's warm-up I suppose.

  33. Aye, we’re so far under Arsenals skin it’s fucking brilliant. They will lose their heads completely at SJP, they should have had players sent off this past match I can definitely see it happening in the return fixture. We will then get to hear the brilliantly idiotic Arsenal TV interview more Arsenal fans who know fucking nothing about football. “yi get me fam? Ow is it that this side beat us? Ow is that? They is crap but when we play them we are rubbish it just makes no sense blud. You know what Arteta out fam eee can’t even beat noocarrsel”

  34. Well if Kuol is as promising as it sounds, Hearts are almost nailed on for top four. He'll be fine up here, Snoddy will keep him off the deep fried mars bars and pizza crunch and worst hatchet job up here he won't face until April. Not a Hearts fan by any stretch but they seem to have their shit together lately with transfers.

  35. Change of subject, fucking utility bills: June 2022 £293 in credit (which they refunded) paying £146/month, they put it up to £258/month coming off a fixed tariff. July 2022 to Jan 2023, £248 in credit paying the above increased amount and yet they're putting it up to £304/month. Wholesale gas prices are below what they were before Ukraine (their excuse) happened. What the actual fuck, robbing cunts.
