I know that 90% of this board probably only have about ten years left to see us win a trophy but for us young 'uns we've plenty of time to wait. Missing out on Europe would be a massive set back in our development and inevitably lead to the breaking up of some of the side.6 points

How is he a hypocrite? Because they imagined he pretended to have opinions they pretend to?6 points

I remember Stewarr Lee likening social media usage to keeping dolphins in concrete tanks; the sound ot their own sonar bouncing back at them sends them mad. It makes me think of mackems online and wonder if the madness on RTG and Twitter manifests in real life? "Heya hinnee why don't yew slip inta summit more comfortabill?" "Ah will, al see yew upstairyaz" "Arrrr Gemma, greeyun and white?! Ah dint kna yew bombed kids lyyke"5 points

It's going to be a real head scratcher the next time an MLF is pulled in ponteyland airport by a stranger who's dead impressed by the Sunderland badge on their polo shirt but the stranger is a Saudi visiting the region. Does the MLF tell the story with pride how the QPR is dead impressed with Sunderland or does he berate the Saudi who will no doubt avoid eye contact and be well and truly put in his place by the MLF. Imagine?5 points

Adopted a position of morality that 99.9% of them don't share and now have to pretend to hate anyone not acting in favour of it. It's going to make pariahs of their heroes and cultivating special friendships even trickier.5 points

I'd just like to say the board is really hoping to hold on to the services of LTA. But if he has to go then that's just football. (And to be clear we want him here as much as we ever did. But you know that's football or whatever.)5 points

"The proposal originally involved Ryan Fraser but was subsequently improved". Harsh.4 points

Not that bothered. If us, Arsenal and other clubs that were rumored to be in for him kept their distance then there is likely a good reason. Might just be a Villa level player.4 points

I think we have to be realistic when it comes to squad building under the watchful gaze of FFP. We lurched from a bottom half of the Premier League team, to needing a Champions League squad in, what, 18 months? We didn't have a season or two competing in the Europa League where we could have brought in more depth and raised the valuation of our existing stock. Had we ended up 6th, a LB another CB and some young players like Minteh or Kuol/Ashby, we'd have been happy. The demands of Europa League aren't as, well, demanding as they are for the Champions League and the player who we now see as not good enough, would have been fine for the likes of Union Saint-Gilloise or LASK. We could have been confident of progressing with a team comprising of Burn, ASM, Almiron, Longstaff et al. So now, we're trying to dramatically improve the quality and depth of our squad to do well in the planets elite football competition, without breaking FFP rules, without a recent history of the competition and with a squad that's barely deep enough to compete in the Premier League.4 points

aye, the reality is below. wearside amnesty was formed in 1975, nearly half a century ago, hat doffed to them. their facebook page was created in 2009, it has less than 200 followers, their twitter account created 8 years ago has less than a hundred. sunderland supporters don't give a flying fuck about human rights, they're just very good at pretending they do.4 points

Watching PMQs yesterday and they had two Tory MPs asking questions about Farage's account, both prominent Brexiters of course. Was there not one single national or constituency issue they thought was more important than the banking issues of a man never elected to national office? These people up in arms about Coutts' decision to withdraw banking from Farage will almost certainly be the same ones defending a baker's right not to bake a wedding cake for a gay marriage.4 points

Anyone give a fuck if Farage gets to bank with the posh fuckers? No me neither but there’s a woman here who calmly states a few facts to him on this issue and he somewhat loses his shit4 points

Look at the cunt. Absolute toucher. Wouldn’t even be allowed supervised trips off the nonce wing today, never mind being allowed to run a club like us.3 points

Get the impression he’s annoyed purely because it’s a status thing. I also get the impression there’ll be some sort of crowd funding grift off the back of this. To fund some legal action that won’t take place and won’t be paid back either. Although anyone contributing doesn’t deserve their money back. He’ll shite himself the second there’s any suggestion the bank itself may take legal action over stuff he’s saying / writing about it though. Btw, this was the first thing Jeremy Vive wanted to discuss on his shit show yesterday. Like PL says, nee one gives a shite, but he seems to have called in a few favours to make this some pressing matter which is somehow linked to everyone’s freedom. I’m thinking of not banking with Coutt’s in the future like3 points

All we need now is for Henderson’s butchers in sunderland to start selling halal meat and they’ll go supernova. Ready to Groom seems to think this place is connected to him, but his dad was a copper ( different kind of pork), and the owners of it are called McGill. Usual standards of reality on RTG in action3 points

I'll also be there, can't wait. It'll only be my second time seeing the mighty mags in person. First, a friendly at Hartlepool years ago, where I was treated to the likes of Marveaux, Amalfitano, and chants of "the referee's a seal!" I think the second will be a rather more exciting affair.3 points

He’s only going there to earn the money to buy the club and bankroll them to the Premier League title.3 points

Starts today in NZ and OZ. Anyone interested (other than MF for obvious reasons)? At the risk of being called a pervert by Gemma, I will try to watch Australia and England at least. https://www.fifa.com/fifaplus/en/tournaments/womens/womensworldcup/australia-new-zealand20232 points

Getting blamed for shite that’s fuck all to do with us now. It’s cute that Villa fans think they would register in the PiF’s thoughts though. The fact that Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool have been given large FFP boosts from these Saudi clubs completely undoes this weird conspiracy theory angle.2 points

There’s only an hour and 10 minutes play left this evening now if you factor in the change of innings. Declaring would be absolutely fucking stupid and would play into Australian hands2 points

One thing to note here is that his xG is in the 71st percentile, but his goal return is 91st percentile. And it's like that consistently. He's one of those rare players who consistently scores more goals than you'd expect given the chances. Now this could be some ridiculous fluke of facing poor goalkeeping performances for his entire career, or, what is more likely, is that he's a very good finisher. I've seen some criticism of his passing, but I wonder if those critics are accounting for where those passes are played and what the circumstance are. e.g. from the highlights I've seen the majority of his passes are in attack, around the box. He plays a high volume of attempted 1-2s through congested areas of the pitch. This obviously reduces the likelihood of that pass being successful. Same is true with Tonali. The passes that fail are usually the ones that would lead to a good chance.2 points

Imagine. The mythical age of the great Durham mines. A time when:: Capital punishment was used. Men could legally rape their wives (1999 that one) Homosexuality was illegal. Pit villages were theocratic hell holes where you had to go to church on your one day off a week. Etc. Imagine.2 points

I hope the USA don't win. Beyond that it would be nice for the Matilda's to do well, and the NZ girls too. I'll be watching the Matilda's matches.2 points

Spot on, we’ve already seen on here how ASM fan boys go after Gordon as they see him as some threat to their idol. Plus on Twitter the negativity towards Barnes is fucking rampant by ASM profile pics, thankfully it doesn’t seem to have put Barnes off.2 points

Didn't know he had made a game. I play and design a few myself. Had a look at his game though, and it isn't great! Can't see how it took him 9 hours to teach it! Looks very flashy but in the end it didn't deliver2 points

I don’t really get what the fuss is about ASM is fine, just fine, that’s all, he’s alright, decent, nothing special really. he’s pretty fun to watch when he gets his dribbly stuff going but you know watching that it’s rarely going to be productive because he’s a superb dribbler and a mediocre final ball player or finisher. When we were shit that was plenty, a rare bright spark because he could create something out of nowhere just often enough for us to stay up. We aren’t that team anymore though, we create from our plan, we score because we have good players putting that plan into action. We don’t need Allan saint maximin now like we used to, so he can be sold to make us a better team which should ultimately be what we all want.2 points
