  1. We've tried with Capello. He was brilliant with big clubs. Hodgson is the perfect choice. He was excellent at Switzerland.
  2. Carroll40th, even if (and it's a big 'if') Hodgson isn't good with big clubs, why does that rule him out of the England job? England isn't a club at all, it's a national team, where you can't buy players, but have to be on the look out of up-and-coming new players. We've tried having a big-club-man (Capello) and it hasn't worked. Sven was very good with England, but he had proved himself both at big clubs and at small clubs.
  3. Ambition is, as far as I'm concerned, the desire to do something impressive. What Man City are doing, isn't impressive in my opinion. And so I don't have any ambitions to pay players totally stupid wages like 60,000 a week,. It's bad enough paying 20,000 a week. ANd I hope we never again see players earnin what Smith is earning, regardless of how good they may be.
  4. Ayatollah Hermione, no, no one thinks that Tiote's 6-year-contract means he'll necessarily be here until 2017. If you and others would just listen for one moment... We will get more money for a player whom we sell, the longer there is left of his contract. Thank you.
  5. But England is a mixture of big names and not so big names. THere is no reason why a manager whose strength is the hard-working grafters, rather than whose strength is the big stars, wouldn't do better with England.
  6. Okay. I agree, he's a genius. He took WImbledon to two semi-finals in the same season. BUt he is Irish, you do know that, don't you?
  7. I place emphasis on the following. -I'd like him to be English -I'd like him not to cost too much money -I'd like him to have a very good CV indeed. As such, this is my choice. Roy Hodgson. Who is yours?
  8. Kitman, no, I don't know any Birmingham fans, and I don't live in Birmingham. But I've heard some of their fans interviewed on the radio.
  9. Of course they get involved during individual matches. But City fans won't be walking on air like Birmingham fans were for a weeks. By the way, doesn anyone respect Man City for finishing 4th? I think it's disgraceful how shite they've been despite spending all that money.
  10. Are we now 100% safe from relegation? If so, I really hope the players don't mentally go on holiday. If they do, I'll be pished off, I can tell you. I'd a thousand times rather finish 10th than 17th! Plus, finishing above the Mackems would be nice.
  11. Out of curiosity, I checked skunkers. It seems no one has written anything on it for about a year. If they are fans of Ashley, then I suppose being proved right may mean they don't feel the need to write anymore.
  12. Why did we have to change it in the first place. To the best of my knowledge, we've had 4 crests. 1) It was so long ago, that I can't remember it, but I've seen it in old sports books. It bears a very small resemblence to the one we've got now, but I hasten to add, very small. 2. The circle with a picture of a magpie, and I think the castle keep is in the background??? 3. The NUFC one, where the c is lying under the other 3 letters, and there's a very small magpie under the c. 4. The one we've got now. I repeat, why have changes been made? Why can't we have the same crest for ever?
  13. Even I'm surprised at how mute the Man City fans are after all but qualifying for the Champions League. They haven't been in it since 1968-69. Again, a case of 'money can't buy happiness', altough I must say, it's taken hold sooner than I expected, with City fans.
  14. Yes, Man United are in the bottom half, because of the sale of Ronaldo.
  15. Why would I dislike Carroll? First he helps us get promoted, then he gets us 35 million pounds. But I also never want my club to cave in to such demands. If he wants more than 20,000 a week, that's fine, but he'll have to do it at another club. And I have nothing against people thinking we should pay players whatever they demand, but if they are going to be arrogant about it, as if they are the only one's who know what they are talking about, then I will simply be even more convinced that my refuse-to-cave-in-to-stupid=wage-demands-even-if-all-other-clubs-are-caving-in policy is the right one.
  16. Premier League matches 2010-2011 Hughton 1.19 points per match (16 league matches) Pardew 1.16 points per match (19 league matches) Very close mind. (for what it's worth, this stat)
  17. Some people want to be high up the spending table, some people want to be far down. Nothing wrong with disagreeing. Fora would be boring without debates.
  18. We could have a million people at each match. If, for whatever reason, we don't have as much money to spend as other clubs do (or kid themselves they do) then we can't spend as much as they do. Sunderland and Villa have both admitted they have to stop spending so much.
  19. How long are you lot going to bang on about us getting relegated? Do you wish we were still down, so that you could have more of an excuse to knock Ashley? We shoudl be proud of being at the bottom of the spending pile BECAUSE clubs spend so ridiculous amounts these days. We shouldn't be slaves to other clubs. Look what happened to Portsmouth? The honour in their FA Cup win is non-existant.
