One good thing about Blatter. So far, he hasn't made us pay to watch the World Cup on TV, in the way that we have had to do with league matches for about 18 years. The above is a mistake on my part. It is thanks the the EU and not Blatter, that we don't have to pay to watch World Cup or Champions League final. http://www.ipworld.com/ipwo/doc/view.htm?i...;searchCode=SEC

F.C Barcelona vs Manchester United
Irrelevant Nick KP replied to LeazesMag's topic in Newcastle Forum
Manchester United's most important player is the man who demanded a hefty pay-rise earlier this season if they wanted to keep him. He's their hope today. -
What a load of absolute bilgewater!!! There is no way that Anil Ambani is going to takeover. This is just bullshite being spouted through the grapevine, utter crap. Someone's dog's girlfriend's aunt's milkman's newsagent's brother's uncle's best mate's history teacher's scullery maid's seamstress's postman no doubt. When you're new to football, stories like these frustrate, but when you're an old hand, they provide good amusement :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Is Michael Owen an Agent of Evil?

Dogmatix, I'm half-Norwegian, half-English (grew up in Norway). When Norwegians talk about Vikings they mean the travellers who lived in the period 793 to 1066. They sometimes jokingly refer to themselves as Vikings. That's what your friends will have done, unless they belong to that very very small minority, who try to bring the Viking era back by dressing as Vikings, and living like them inasmuch law permits. -

So all the Norwegians, Danes and Swedes who dont own a helmet and have never sailed, are not Vikings according to your world renowned definition ? Just keep digging you Know-nowt. Why dont you go and bother a London club Eh ? Dogmatix, yes, I assure you. Go to the airport, find some Norwegian tourists, and ask one of them 'Are you a Viking?' If they say yes, I'll buy you a box of Ferrero Rocher. -

I know the Geordies have Viking origins, but by my definition, you have to sail and have a helmet before you can be called a Viking. It's not enough just to have ancestors who were Vikings. -

I didn't cry yesterday, when we lost that 9th place, after having it in the bag. But it was utterly gut wrenching. And yes, I know many people don't care about finishing 9th, and are only upset about finishing below the Mackems, but I was very very upset about not getting that 9th place. It would have been so much better than finishing 12, in my opinion. I would have regarded it was a huge honour, and it was very very disappointing. -

He was an appalling waste of money by Freddie. And he did indeed put England ahead of Newcastle. Hmmm, that first sentence was the beginning of an attempt to redeem him, by reminding everyone that he only accepted the club's money, it was Freddie who stupidly gave him it. But the 2nd sentence reminds me that he was a dastardly Viking, in that he plundered the North East, then left it in the doldrums having to pick itself up. On second thoughts, at least the Vikings had the decency not to pretend they were anything other than plunderers. -
Well, that told me! :icon_lol: :icon_lol: Whats the point in explaining, when you completely don't get what i'm saying and then twist the words to suit you That's a false accusation.

StoneCold, we've heard nothing else from Man U fans other than that they've surpassed Liverpool. They never mention winning it without mentioning that they've surpassed Liverpool. Even if we had beaten Sunderland in a final, I would have spent at least 50% of my celebrations being directed at the fact that we'd won a trophy. I guarantee it. Obviously we can disagree, but I am convinced that Man U fans find winning the league so boring that they have to spice it up with whatever they can get. And anyway, you're not quite comparing like for like. If you beat your rival in the final, they become an inescapable part of your moment of glory. Liverpool's part in Man U's 2011 league championship was far more low-key, yet they are still referred to every time the Man U fans mention this triumph. For me it seems an open-and-shut case of boredom demanding extra spice.
-
stonecold, I know you don't hold that Man U winning the league feels to them like getting 3 points feels for us. But I think the difference is much smaller than people will admit. But as you say, saying something is like something, isn't the same as saying something is something. But even saying 3 points was like winning the league was notable, in my view.
-
And I think all I've done is answer people's postings that were addressed to me.
-
I back it up from people I've worked with and fans I've listened to on talksport. Whether argument is the correct word for it or not, to suggest that I've in any way suggested that this is how it is because I say so is a joke (perhaps you can find a place where that's what I suggest???) If not, stop making false accusations. I can't understand why people get so annoyed just because I express an opinion, and ask others for theirs. Is it because people agree with me, but don't want this opinion published. Some people WANT money to a key to happiness. And when they see that it isn't they get very upset.
-
I've never said I could prove it. That's why this thread is a poll. It's a discussion. Some people think Man U fans would be happiest, I think Birminham fans were happiest. I've prsented arguments, but have never pretendet that I could prove it. And I wouldn't ask anyone else to prove that Man U fans were happier. I'd merely ask them to present argumentation.
-
We can't measure it exactly of course, but we can say person a) is happier than person . And that's exactly what I and the people who disagree with me have done, on this thread.
-
Yes, he was reminding me that we and Man U fans both value getting one over on our rivals. But he let slip that winning the league for Man U (minus the rivalry aspect) was no more than getting 3 points is for us. Which is exactly along the lines that I've been arguing.
-
Alex, you don't even know what his point is, do you?
-
When we beat Sunderland 5-1 all you could hear from us was us going on about thumping them 5-1, not about the 3 points we won, this is just like whats happening with Man U and Liverpool And me names not Stephen, it's the boss for future reference, just thought i'd clear that up Alex, it certainly looks to me as if StoneCold is saying that because we didn't bang on about 3 points after beating our rivals, it therefore follows that Man U don't bang on about winning the biggest trophy in the country after beating their rivals. Hope you manage to understand this.
