  1. I reckon at least 50% of people don't want to be there at Christmas do's.

I'm not going to mine. ;)

But I am going to the one my recruitment agency has set up. Free drinks, central London. Once again, great until I mention it's a Wednesday. At least I don't have to start work til 1230... in Manchester. :icon_lol:

  2. I still divvint naa what the fuck ye talking about.

That Ken bloke appears to be from Sydney. Ignore him, they're all full of shit.

I work in medical imaging injecting people full of radioactivity for laughs.

  3. Obviously I think Torquay is far superior Steve! I hate their football club (mandatory being a Torquay fan of course) Dont go watch them, come watch us.

I didn't even see a Torquay match when I was down that way. I used to travel back to London for the weekends and during the week worked quite long hours because their department was fucked and needed Super Steve to fix it. B)

But aside from that, Exeter is fine. Shopping centre is not bad at all, eating out is ok, obviously night life is nothing to Newcastle.

So there aren't chavs everywhere, is that what you're saying? Sign me up! ;)

I love walking around the Cathedral and quayside/canal area. And untill today its been positively warm here! Has to be better than Manchester surely? Plus you are near to some stunning scenery as I'm sure you know, like Dartmoor and the beautiful south west coastline.

(I bloody sound like the South-West's tourist board here)

Like I said I never really stuck around to see Torquay and the surrounds when I was down last time, but this will be a full on proper move so This is the kind of thing I'm after.

Of course, only when it starts to warm up. This single digit temperature shit is getting old.

  4. It's 2½ hours and 60 quid from civilisation.

Just like I am now. ;)

Steve, when you arrived in the UK you reckoned it was dump. Then when I saw you recently you reckoned you were moving here for good. Now you're off home again. There's a lass involved here, isn't there? :D

    England's still a dump. :aye:

There's no lass involved, I just miss my family and friends at home. I've been here four years now, and the month at home really made me realise what I'm missing. I'm 29 next year, and I want to spend the last year of my twenties at home before I officially turn old.

I've just had enough. But I'm not stupid enough to go home without some £££ in my pocket now the Aussie $ has dropped.

Thanks to everyone that replied. :) I've passed through Exeter quite a bit in the past but never really spent much time there. Now, I have another option as well. What do people know about Stafford?

  5. I know Toonraider will probably know, but has anyone else been to Exeter?

I want to go home you see, and one of my options before I go is to take a job in Exeter. The pay is better than up here, and because I'm only temp they can guarantee me longer than Manchester seem to be willing to. That and the weather forecast is always a few degrees warmer than Manchester, I'm sick of this winter shit and it's not even December yet. I've been to Torquay and while that was a nightmare it was more job related than anything else, despite what I'll say because taking the piss is fun.

Anyway, is anyone able to tell me anything about the place that I can't read on Wikipedia?

  6. The whole white V and even the name Victory is to represent Victoria. It does look like the Arsenal badge in a way, but it comes back to Victorian state teams playing in a dark blue shirt with a big white V on it.

But thanks Tom, if whoever hooks it up doesn't fancy a naked and sweaty session with Meenzer and Gemmill, then I'll buy them beers when I'm up for a match next.

  7. Dear Sirs.

I was wondering if it would be possible to change my member badge. You see I'm currently homesick as fuck (strange as I'm there at the moment I know) and was hoping you could help. Can I pretty please get a Melbourne Victory badge? This is the club crest:

Bland yes, but we're not a flashy bunch.

    They play in these colours:

Just so you know what colour the thing is.

If you could make this possible I will arrange it that you can be tag teamed by Meenzer and Gemmill. Both are well up for it.

I thank you in advance.

  8. Craig Moore is hardcore.

MOMENTS after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, Australia veteran Craig Moore made the "extraordinary" decision to delay critical surgery in order to play for A-League club Queensland.

Moore, 32, dropped the bombshell that he had been forced out of Australia's World Cup qualifier in Bahrain next week after undergoing surgery for testicular cancer.

He was diagnosed last Thursday and underwent the procedure on the Gold Coast on Tuesday.

Moore, who returned from international retirement for the Socceroos' 2010 World Cup qualification campaign, is now under the care of a urologist who told the player that the "outlook is good".

Follow-up tests will be carried out in six weeks.

He has carved out a reputation as a tough defender during a glittering career.

But his Australian-based media spokesman Ian Hanson revealed just how tough Moore was when he explained how the Roar captain received the shattering news last Thursday.

"The doctor told him he needed surgery straight away. He said ‘you could either have it on Friday or Tuesday'," Hanson said.

"The first thing Craig said was ‘can I have it on Tuesday so I can play Saturday night', which is just extraordinary."

Moore went on to play in Queensland's 1-0 loss to Melbourne at Suncorp Stadium.

"He said to the doctor ‘can I do any further damage (by playing)' and the doctor told him no but added he would need to have surgery immediately after," Hanson said.

He said Moore found a lump on Wednesday.

"He acted straight away. (Roar coach) Frank Farina said ‘you have to get this seen to straight away, we can't hesitate' - the next day they went to the doctor who diagnosed testicular cancer.

"It was a huge shock to Craig, his family and friends."

But Hanson confirmed the surgery had been a success.

"The outlook is good. In six weeks further testing will be done - but I don't think we have seen the last of Craig Moore as a player," he said.

A statement from Moore's management added: "Craig and his family wish to extend their enormous gratitude to all of their friends within the Australian football community for their best wishes in his recovery."

Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek was shocked at the news as he announced changes to his squad for the Bahrain clash next Wednesday.

"It's always a shock to hear of a diagnosis like this but I am encouraged by the prognosis from the medical practitioner," Verbeek said.

"I speak for the entire team in wishing him a speedy recovery."

FFA chief executive Ben Buckley added: "As Pim said, we are encouraged by the advice from the medical practitioner.

"I am sure that, with Craig's legendary toughness, as well as the best of medical care, his age and his general level of health and fitness that Craig will respond well to treatment."

The Roar were still reeling from the news.

"Queensland Roar is at this time fully focused on assisting club captain Craig Moore in his recovery from testicular cancer," a Roar spokesman said.

"At this point there are no thoughts regarding injury replacement players and the club will be guided by medical advice on a timeframe for Craig's return to training and playing.

"Craig's health and wellbeing are of the utmost importance to the club and we will offer him and his family all the support required in order to help him make a full recovery.

"We would ask that Craig's privacy, and that of his family, please be observed at this time."

  9. Top of the league bitches!!

    1 Melbourne 20

    2 Adelaide 17

    3 Sydney 16

    4 Queensland 15

    5 Central Coast 14

    6 Wellington 12

    7 Newcastle 11

    8 Perth 11

    Using my UK address however:

3.14 miles Manchester United Football Club

5.99 miles Stockport County Football Club

6.33 miles Manchester City Football Club

    11.26 miles Bury Football Club

12.02 miles Oldham Athletic Football Club

    Fuck. That.

  10. Don't you change my words sir. He led the way for Aussie legends at this club. Moore and Viduka. Only in the last few years could Newcastle be deemed a big club, they just needed to be touched by greatness first.

  11. Craig Moore is a dead set legend. The best player ever to play for Newcastle United. He captained his country with pride. He will beat this because he is just that good.

    Damn right.

You're a good man Mr Fist.
