I didn't renew my S/T this season as I knew I'd only be able to make 10 games at the most, but due to the events I won't be going once more this season. I'll probably make around 15 Leeds games though. Why didn't you sign up to a Leeds board then? Because I don't want to sign up to a Leeds board. Sounds a bit masochistic to me then. You don't like what's going on at Newcastle, you don't like the way football has gone, you don't like the lack of atmosphere from Newcastle fans and you're giving up on the club. Fair enough. Your choice. Leeds make you all warm inside with their superb customer care, style of play and great fans providing a top-notch atmosphere. But you'd rather be on the NUFC board with all the miserables than living it up with your new Leeds pals? I'm thinking WUM. Do you like what's going on with Newcastle? Do you like the way football has gone? Do you like the way there's no such thing as an atmosphere with the exception of Sunderland games? I'm not giving up on the club, just putting it to the back seat. Superb customer care? They're fucking useless at Elland Road when it comes to that. I was also at Elland Road for when they beat Crewe 5-2 this Saturday. Leeds play a really good brand of football under MacAllister and the atmosphere is something I haven't experienced for a long time, and all pretty much on my front step. What's a WUM? Do you live near Elland Road by the way? Yes. I thought you'd mentioned that before. I was just checking. Then why couldn't you check my previous posts instead of asking me? Because I was taking the piss. Why? That's not very nice is it? You need to learn some respect young kid. I've never taken the piss out of you, so what prompted you to do that to me? And for what it is worth, if you're the sort of person that SJP attracts, then I'd rather stay at Elland Road and watch the fallen giants of English football. No wonder nothing ever happens with this club, you wouldn't batter an eye lid if we were relegated. You're not and never ever have been a true fan of the Toon Army. Ooh, you've really wound me up now. If it has, it doesn't take much to wind you up. Your lot are more welcome and Blunderland.

You must be taking the piss? I've never been so cold before at a football match while stood at Farsley last season in December. Well us young 'uns still have a decent amount of blood pumping through us. You young 'uns don't feel the cold as much as we old 'uns.

I'll say it again. An atmosphere isn't provided by the club. As a fan, that's your responsibility. So why aren't the other 40 odd thousand doing anything about it? You're not even going so I don't think you're in a position to have a go at them. Personally, I think the atmosphere is going to be out of this world at the Hull game. Aye, I hope so, shall be listening to it over the internet. Nothing would do me more proud than to hear St James' bouncing as it should be. Mind, what will happen if Hull score early on and we fail to capitalize on our chances? The crowd will get restless and the old booing will occur again. I really hope we demolish Hull in similar fashion to what Wigan did. "We"? You're going to have to get used to saying "you" if you're a Leeds fan now. I'm not a Leeds fan, just an active follower of the club, always have been, but Newcastle will always be where my football heart lays, despite us historically being the smaller club.

Aye. The atmosphere at SJP used to be electric. We used to put the shits up the opposition fans, and team alike. Coming to SJP used to be a daunting experience for away fans, they'd be in awe of the atmosphere. Now?

I hope I am, but at the moment, going to watch Newcastle isn't at the top of my priorities anymore. Get rid of this ownership and Wise, and I will be back. And yes, TrophyShy, food was a luxery, me and my wife used to go without many days so that the little ones could eat. I was a strong, lean man anyway, I could afford to go without food for a day or two, but being a kid, you need food to grow.

Aye youre right old lad, youre right. I didnt have to goto uni, didnt have to work all them shitty hours at ASDA when I was a student, dont have to work hard at work etc, us young uns get it all given to us. Youre from Leeds man and if youre 15mins from the ground I would say Beeston/Middleton, so youll see we dont get it all given to us on a plate. You cut your cloth accordingley. Get to as many Toon games as possible. If you still crave for more footy go see Farsley Celtic or like I do I go watch Garforth town. ASDA? Don't make me laugh kiddo. I used to work in a Bakery from 2am, to 8am, have a 6 hour sleep, wake up at 2pm, head off to clean/mend shoes from 3pm to 9pm, then I'd have to settle the young 'uns into bed 6 days a week, with the exception of Sunday as that was the day of rest, while then budgeting the little money we had with my wife and decide what we were going to have to drop from the shopping list so we could survive another week. We was earning between us just enough to feed ourselves, never mind another two young children. We were well below the poverty line. Now, you can claim all the benefits under the Sun. Times were very hard for a lot of people in those days. Hot water and food was a luxery, it was never taken for granted. Going to watch Newcastle play at SJP was just not an option. I don't like going to watch Farsley or Garforth, it's always freezing there in the winter. I don't know to be honest, perhaps this whole saga with Ashley/Keegan/Wise is a blessing in disguise. After watching the Toon from 1969 to 2007 religiously, do I really want to have a four hour round trip for 90 minutes of utter tripe, when I can walk 15 minutes to Elland Road, £10, no fuss, stand with my two sons and enjoy myself, then a 15 minute walk back home so I can catch the football results on the bbc. I'm 66, I need to be spending as much time as I can with Family and friends. None of us will be around forever. Clearly haven't got a clue about being a Geordie and following Newcastle Trust me, you think that it can be cold at SJP? You haven't experienced Farsley in the winter! Not at all, I don't regret a moment of it. The first one was an accident though to be fair, the second when we were both 28 was planned. We made the mess, and we cleared and raised it up. Best mistake of my life.

Its very expenisve to get into a Leeds match at the moment, bar the Bratfud one! Sort your loyalty out man! As has already been stated, I'm an OAP. It only costs me a tenner at the most, plus I live a 15 minutes walk away from Elland Road. If I was 60, or under, I wouldn't be attending either Leeds or Newcastle games this season. And Wyk... Times were hard in those days, you young 'uns have it all on your plate.

Newcastle, of course. I was married at 16, had my first child at 19 and working 70 hours a week for a poor salary. I had a family to support, and wasn't until they got older I could go and watch Newcastle play, however, I do admit, my first ever game of live football was in 1965, when Leeds United played Manchester United at Elland Road, it was Leeds' first time in a long time in the First Division and they lost the league because they lost 1-0. I also knew Terry Cooper and Paul Madeley really well and used to get free tickets for all Leeds games from 1965-1968, after that, I rarely went to Elland Road and SJP was my home. I didn't have a car until 1968, and the wife would have killed me if I spent money on going up to Newcastle and watching the Toon play. Money was very tight, and my only other fix of football was MOTD on the old black and white TV. In 1968, I changed my job, less hours, better pay, and could afford to go and watch Newcastle play, it was just a natural progression in all honesty.

Never lived in Newcastle mate. Parents were both from Newcastle, yet in 1940, due to the war and jobs being available in Leeds in a bakery, my Father and Mother moved down to Leeds. They were massive Newcastle fans and I was raised that way. It's not really a Leeds scarf, just an old scarf I bought years ago (about 20) while away in America which just happens to have Leeds United colours. No offense but having never lived in the area I don't think you'll have a real grasp on the situation and how much the club means to not only the fans but the area itself. Where did I question that? I only know way too well! I'm just saying, it's the same in Leeds too. I always remember driving up to Newcastle in the 1970's/80's/90's/00's and feeling nothing but pride when the majority of what you saw was black and white scarfs hanging out of windows etc, then when you went over the bridge and all you could see was black and white, amazing feeling. Sadly, I don't get that buzz anymore. Sometimes I wish we could swap places with Leeds in League One and have a club we could call our own again.

I went to a few Leeds games last season, Millwall, Carlisle in the league, Gillingham and Carlisle in the Play Offs, each time the atmosphere was something else. Things in recent years have gone pale. We haven't had an atmosphere to aspire too since the 1970's, when we only had three stands. Nothing else can touch those years now, due to Sky, health and safety etc. I was sad to see a great club like Leeds go down the shitter. Living in Leeds, you get a feel for the place, and Leeds United FC is a huge part of city life here. I can only hope they get back to where they belong in the top 6 of English football, what Newcastle fan could ever forget us winning 4-3 at Elland Road in 2002?
-
Fairweather tbh. Now? Yes. I do agree with you. I attended every home and away game from inbetween 1976-1985 though, just with age, I can't afford it, I've now got Grandchildren, I'm personally 66, retired and living off my pension. Money is tight, and coupled with everything else that is going on at the club, trecking all the way up to Newcastle is just not financially fesiable, where on the other hand, Elland Road is only a 15 minute walk away, I get in for around £10 each match as I'm an OAP, good day out, get to stand with my two sons in that Kop and enjoy a good, hard, honest game of English football.

Great post, 30/20 years ago, he'd have been removed by force. The sooner we get that cunt out of Newcastle, the sooner we can move forward and progress as a club again .
-
And what are we at the moment? 20 years ago I fucking hated Leeds United, especially in 1990 when they were promoted and we weren't, but now as I reach the age of 66, I don't hold any bones against them now. I'd love for us play Leeds in the league again, the atmosphere would be like that of derby day.

Hi all, first post on here, been reading the site for a good few months however. Secondly, I'd like to point out I've watched Newcastle since 1969 and have never looked back since. I've enjoyed the highs, and witnessed many lows. Unfortunately in this day and age, football in the Premiership is a joke. There's just nothing enticing me to Premiership football, and I've fallen out of love with Newcastle United. I just can't get up for games anymore, and just don't enjoy watching us play. I've lived in Leeds all my life, I love the place, and the people, and have a soft spot for Leeds United too. Last Tuesday I went along to Elland Road to watch Leeds United play local team Bradford City, only £10, a great game of football and an atmosphere I haven't heard at SJP for at least a decade. I was in their Kop, and I could only wish we had that sort of atmosphere at SJP. The past week or so has been the last straw for myself with regards to Ashley and Keegan. As you can imagine, I've seen the many lows, but this past week or so has surpassed any other of my Newcastle supporting life. It's been so depressing, we are the laughing stock of football. Keegan should have never been hired in the first place; but once again, good ol' Ashley trying to get into our good books, and we mugs have all fallen for it. It makes me sick when he stands in our end with his 'nice, shiny replica shirt' on in all glory; I mean, who the fuck is he? He's a fucking Spurs fan. Coventry away was and is my last game watching the Toon as long as Mike Ashley is there. I'm voting with my feet, and that ugly cunt isn't getting anymore of my money. My kids both support Leeds United, and I will be attending a lot of Elland Road Leeds United games with them in the meantime, I've even got a white-blue-yellow scarf. I prefer watching Leeds than us at the moment, sure, they may be in League One, but the football is what I fell in love with. Honest, hard, professional people, getting stuck in, passionate fans, intimidating atmospheres. I've been to 104 English football grounds, and Leeds has the best atmosphere for me from 1980 onwards, it's a pleasure to be part of. People say we have the best fans, but at the moment, I don't think we're a patch on Leeds, we need to follow suite on them, as said, the last time I had heard an atmosphere like that was over a decade ago, probably before seats were compulsive. Newcastle will always be in my heart, but while Ashley is in charge with Dennis Wise pulling the strings from behind the scenes, I'm afraid I'll have to take my football to Elland Road. I'm getting to an age where travelling up to Newcastle every fortnight on a Saturday is tedious, same old journey, same old tripe. Leeds have a far better package for my limited budget. I'd love to see things change, but due to this ownership, I can't see owt happening too quickly. Fuck off Wise, Fuck off Ashley.
