  1. Wouldn't be surprised mind if the amount of stuff he'd drank was exagerrated to allow them to argue he was had a drink problem (which he admitted) and that he was now having treatment etc. to help sort that out. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he'd drank that much either.

Covered all the bases there alex. :)

  2. Was it not the 1999 World Cup Luke? I seem to remember some Pakistan fans charging through some of the least useful mesh fencing I have ever seen at one of the games I was at. Was literally just like charging through a paper banner! I agree totally by the way, was fantastic to go on the pitch. Always used to run on to get the ball after a boundary, not allowed to do that any more either!

  3. I've met Wilkie, he did a talk in at the Blue Flame. To be honest, he came across as a bit arrogant, seemed to be living off the fact he sent Cantona off for the kung fu kick (even though he admitted he didn't see it, his linesman told him to send him off) and that he reffed Beckhams first ever senior game. As an aside, I won a MOTD video in the raffle and he signed it. Now that's class.

He was already sent off when he launched the vicious and unprovoked attack upon the innocent bystander.

Was going to say that, Wilkie actually didn't see the kick at all, he only found out about it after the game! A bit sly of him to say that like!

  4. Some nice balanced views in this thread then! How come Thatcher never gets afforded the balanced critique of her leadership that every other leader gets on here? I'm no fan of her, but would not be pig-headed enough to deny that she did serve to do some positive things, such as reducing union power and City deregulation.

  5. Hahahah, was down the pub today and some bloke was insisting that it's over the whole match, he had a go at me about it. 'What the fuck do you know about betting anyway?'

He thought he'd won £100 as well!

  6. I don't think it'd be a remedy, I could see us going into administration!

How can a business with no debt and the benefit of a huge parachute payment go into administration?

The parachute payment isn't exactly 'huge' is it and it only lasts for one or two seasons doesn't it? I'm more referring to the spiral of players/staff leaving, lack of season ticket renewals and failure to get promotion again. I'm no economists, but I know that relegation isn't exactly economically sound!

Not sure if its correct but I heard a while back that finishing bottom of the premier league, including parachute payments is worth £50m.

Fair enough, but I'm still not hoping Newcastle go down!
