Watford forward Ashley Young is believed to have turned down the chance to join West Ham after the two clubs agreed on a £9.65million deal.

After knocking back a number of offers for their star man, The Hornets had finally accepted a bid of £8million, with another £1.65million in add-ons.

The England Under 21 international has been the subject of interest from at least six clubs during the January transfer window after impressing in his first season in the top flight, and had been expected to leave Vicarage Road.

However Young is now understood to have declined to join The Hammers who are currently embroiled in a relegation dogfight with a number of clubs including Watford.

The 21-year-old has reportedly rejected the chance to even discuss personal terms at Upton Park.

His decision to snub West Ham could give further encouragement to the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa who are also known to be admirers of the livewire forward.

9.65 million!
