Books About Football in the Early 1900's

So, I'm writing a paper for a class on 20th Century Britain, with my topic being the importance of football in the development of the social and economic landscape of Northern England in the early 1900's, focusing on Lancashire and Northumbria.

Could anyone recommend any books about this time period that would be useful? They don't have to be specifically about the North -- any books about the beginning of association football would be very useful and any help is appreciated. Cheers everyone!

I've got one about North East football that's canny. Includes the very beginning etc. called Pioneers of the North by Paul Joannou and Alan Candlish.

Newcastle upon Tyne a modern history (edit by robert colls and bill lancaster) is a decent read that starts mid 1800s

I've a few other but that's a good starting place.
