  1. The cruise operators will come into player when we’re playing our games ON THE OPEN OCEAN. Imagine, docking into Brighton to pick them up and then smashing them all over on our special soccer poop deck. Maybe bring a couple of ball bags to accommodate for Joelinton braying shots over the side

  3. They are the most pathetic club going. You don’t have to be a Newcastle fan to see they’re a complete fucking mess. That’s all they say about people that point out issues with their club, which they then ignore, then they wonder years later why it’s such a fucking mess. I look forward to that club being out of business tbh.

  6. Yet when an old Etonian from a public relations background told them exactly what they wanted to hear they lapped it up. And now it turns out it was just spin. It’s not even 20/20 hindsight. Loads on here saw it for exactly what it was at the time

  7. There's no way social distancing is going to be happening in schools. You need every single kid in the class to i) get what social distancing is all about and ii) observe it. Then you need spaces that are big enough to make it happen - they were showing a head teacher on the BBC earlier showing her school, and she was measuring walkways and they weren't even 2m wide. Then you need kids to be washing their hands fastidiously and at regular intervals. And even then if one of them has it, it's gonna be all over all the surfaces in no time. The same head was looking at all the things that could transmit the virus - pens, pencils, cuddly toys, lego pieces, basically everything in that room is a potential conduit for the disease. She made the point that if they remove all this stuff from the room, what are they actually providing in terms of development? They're just being made to provide free childcare.

  10. Missed this as I'd been to Sofia and the only way we could get an affordable flight was to go on the Thursday morning of the game and return on Sunday morning. Couple of lads were trying to rush for a flight up from Heathrow but it was far too thin a margin so we didn't bother. Bit of a pisser as it turned out but the Sofia trip was fucking brilliant.

  13. Aye well, we're canny fucked aren't we? People are saying now is not the time to dissect the mistakes of January, February, March are missing the point imo. These cunts will fuck up our future just as sure as they fucked up the past. I'm genuinely afraid of where we are heading. Sometimes wish it was just me and the wife to worry about without adding young kids into the equation. What a time to be alive. Off to the beach now to windmill the fuckers who have driven here.

  14. On the press conference yesterday, someone asked a question about timeliness of data. Hancock admitted that the data on R is two weeks out of date, but that a new ONS survey that they are running is hoped to be able to make that R data more timely. There's also the track and trace stuff, for which they've admitted they've only appointed 1,500 of the 18,000 needed to run the process. Now why the fuck would you not wait until both of the above have been achieved - your R data is more timely, and your track and trace is ready to go - before sending people back to work and school? You're basically just winging it. It's unforgivable. I notice the Tories are suddenly desperate to pack the HoC again too - as Marina Hyde points out, the overriding reason for this is because in a quiet HoC Johnson is getting murdered by Starmer's forensic questioning.

  16. Some of the councils are now saying they won't open schools on 1 June (Liverpool and Hartlepool I know have done it so far). Can see this spreading to other councils too and the unions are advising not opening, and now the BMA are backing the unions too. It's clearly not safe to be asking schools to reopen - Hancock yesterday stood at the press conference and said the infection rate had gone from a range of 0.5-0.9 to 0.7-1.0. When quizzed on how old the data was, he had to admit that R data is two weeks old. So two weeks ago, the rate of infection started to rise, and yet they want kids to return to school two weeks from now, at which point they will barely know what the rate of infection was today. They are 100% playing games with people's lives. Btw Gavin Williamson. What the fuck is that? The drip's drip. The Education Secretary who can't be bothered to pronounce the word "the" properly. "Vuh most important thing for children is that they return to education." He can do a "th" perfectly well in other words, he sounds like he's doing baby talk in the fucking House of Commons ffs. This shitshow should cost him another job.

  18. I think we can all agree Khashoggi’s murder was despicable. However if MBS was responsible, I don’t think preventing his sovereign wealth fund from buying an also ran football club will have the slightest impact on him or his regime. Its utter bullshit to suggest otherwise, MBS wont give a shit if it falls through (if he even knows about it). Do they think hes on tenterhooks watching sky sports (on pirate tv) to see if its gone through yet? To pretend that the PL is some kind of moral policeman is a big fat joke given who theyve passed fit as owners; if people have a problem with the saudis using the PL for sportswashing they should demand a political solution and a govt response. And that includes Kashoggis widow imo, who I notice doesn’t direct any flak at Ashley whos the one choosing to sell to PIF. And its got nothing to do with the club and the fans iyam, no one consulted us about the sale.

  22. The US wouldn’t let Boeing go out of business. If the cruise lines need more cash then they’ll go to the shareholders to raise funds which would allow the Saudis to increase their stake. It’s a good time to be buying right now for the cash rich.

  30. Like anything covid related it needs to be led by science. What’s the rate of transmission from children? What has happened in countries that have reopened schools? I don’t know the answers but the government need to clearly illustrate why it’s safe to send kids back to school before they demand it.

  31. No. It's spelt exactly as it sounds. I agree that the Premier League are deliberately slowing this process down to make it look at though they've conducted a particularly thorough process and thus insulate themselves against criticism. I think however, that this is a really stupid approach to take by the Premier League. All taking this approach has done is given more and more time for more and more criticism of the deal to build up on top of itself, leading to a snowball effect where critics are being emboldened by their perceived strength in numbers and the perception the deal is "stalling" because of their efforts. Ultimately the Premier League have really shot themselves in the foot, only adding to the peception that this takeover is "controversial", creating a bigger and bigger decision with accompanying fallout for themselves to deal with when do actually finally make it. The smart play by the Premier League was dumb and innocent, waving the deal through after the standard three or four weeks. "Oh well we conducted our standard checks and left it to the government to guide us on political issues" would have played much cleaner for themselves than the sh*tshow of right now that they have provided both circus tent and faecal reserves for.

  32. It's a mixture. Everywhere I've worked in the city have had provision for home working but I always got the impression it was to encourage out of hours work more than anything else. I've always used it when the trains have been completely screwed or when I've had deliveries or dentists appointments. When we moved two years ago due to running out of space they decided to introduce activity based working which meant laptops instead of pcs so you could move around depending what you were doing. Pretty much a waste of time for someone like me who doesn't have many meetings. Anyway they deliberately made the building capacity 80% of staff numbers on the premise of more home working. Of course some bosses were more flexible than others and it wasn't appropriate for client facing roles. In the run up to the lockdown we were told to take our laptops home every night in preparation and as it happens I was in the middle of a weeks leave when they made the call. They had to ramp up the bandwidth but since then its been fine. In our head cheese updates we've been told that loads of banks were caught completely cold with no provision and have had to ramp up from scratch losing business because of it. There seems to be a desire for us to return eventually but I noticed in the last update the COO did mention "months" for the first time - I think reality has struck. As I've mentioned before there was a hint that even when we get back there's an appetite for a lot more home working as the cost savings are obscene and they've realised there isn't a huge difference in productivity if any. I think there'll be a huge realignment which will see only client facing roles and businesses being 100% office based. Fuck knows what that means for property development.

  33. I shut down the majority of our sites right at the start of this but have been told that we are now going to start up construction again. Absolute headache, being asked for risk assessments etc. Apart from published guidance it’s pretty difficult to risk assess a virus, especially when we could have 30 different subbies on the same site who all have different circumstances

  35. Went to ALDI yesterday and they've completely abandoned all pretence of prevention. Nobody on the door monitoring numbers, nobody adhering to social distancing, hardly any tills open. It's like the British Public will only stick with something for a week and then chuck it away. A nation of kids.
