I fully cannot believe you’re watching BT Sport, of all the channels, immediately after this. I’m amazed they’re not just broadcasting McManaman pulling the head off it while singing along to You’ll Never Walk Alone.3 points

Nadhim Zahawi somewhat missing the point when asked how it can be fair for a rich Tory donor to get this treatment when an ordinary voter in Doncaster can't. His response was that the voter in Doncaster can also attend a Tory fundraiser dinner where they'll find Tory MPs in attendance. That he thought that was the question being asked and this was the answer tells you everything you need to know about these people.3 points

My problem is I’m in a bubble or “echo chamber” of far left labour supporters. Now whilst I probably “identify” as far left I have a friend who is a councillor who’s won numerous elections & knows the political system inside out, every nuance. So every now and then he guides me about how unelectable we're becoming. He’s a big Starmer man, naturally. I worked hard for fuck all, every time. It’s a long time. Just look at the graph detailing families visiting foodbanks & how it has risen, constantly. Fuck it. I want a labour government at any costs at the moment. The argument to move further left will be a lot stronger when we’re in government & suddenly children don’t have to rely on foodbanks not to be malnourished.2 points

A lot of “left wingers” who have been completely sheltered from the anti-Semitism debate are absolutely fuming. Other people are rattling on about labour letting Palestine down. Seemingly okay with the fact that labour have let the British people down for over a decade now. But all I’m hearing is the voices I’ve heard for years, friends & fellow campaigners. The people impressed by this kind of action I’ll likely have never communicated with. When campaigning I knocked on a door in Lanchester, a lady shouted “shalom” & slammed the door shut.2 points

Have you watched Somebody Feed Phil yet, @Dr Gloom? I don't want to put undue pressure on you here but the bloke is a Jew and I'm a bit disappointed that you haven't thrown your weight behind my recommendation. It's all a bit RLB.2 points

I thought it was mental that people were going radge about her praising Maxine Peake. All I took from that line in the article was that she was trying to say that US Police are receiving training from special forces. That it was wrong and that she said it was Israeli special forces didn't even register. But then half of twitter went radge saying she was a jew hater and RLB was praising her for hating the Jews. And now the other half of twitter is up in arms that she's been sacked because she was the last survivor from the cult of Corbyn. Basically a ridiculous episode that says a lot about the state of politics in this country. But on the plus side she's shite anyway so get to the back benches where you belong.2 points

Just stop mentioning Israel and Jews in entirely unrelated discussions. It isn't fucking difficult.2 points

This is the flipside of the "let's all have a staycation this year and enjoy what our great country has to offer!" line. People don't realise (a) just how many British tourists go abroad every year and are having to be accommodated here instead, and (b) that all the cuntish behaviour you see in Benidorm and beyond is going to be happening here now instead. Terrific.2 points

Problem is like with Blair, in order to keep power you end up toeing the line that doesn't upset the "reasonable" people who are scared of anything major. Not that Blair wanted to do anything major but he could have pushed the boat out a bit beyond the half-decent stuff.1 point

They’d be better off reflecting on their role in ushering another 5 years of the most right wing and incompetent government in my lifetime. But they’ll probably blame the centrists1 point

It’s about winning the election rather than the ridiculous philosophical bullshit about ‘winning the argument’ (not that Corbyn did imo but you’ll get the reference). Labour winning or at the very least carrying the fight enough to stop the tories winning next time out has never felt more important.1 point

The far left hate him tbh but I’m happy with my vote. He’s been exceptional in prime minister’s questions. I think he’s a Fabian socialist personally, he’s just clever enough to know how to get there.1 point

Yep, well said. Starmer is absolutely carrying on the right way. It's also, tbf, a fantastic opportunity for him which demonstrates a good reading of politics. He's made Johnson look weak as shit (Jenrick), made a clear statement on antisemitism, and neutered the remaining elements of the Corbynite faction. It's just a great move.1 point

there was an even smaller one that I just snaffled straight away. The dough was a fucking nightmare cos of the heat so I was just trying not to push all the air out of it so no time to weight the bits I was cutting off it.1 point

I'm not being a twat but I genuinely don't see how that is the case. If it was the Nigerian police that had taught them, it wouldn't be anti-black to say it. Besides, I thought it was special forces - I took that to be a comment on the militarisation of the police rather than a dig at who is doing the training.1 point

It does also appear that the US police work very closely in training with the Israeli military, so while this technique is presumably not part of the training (and therefore flagging it as such is ignorant and sowing misinformation), it is also not as if Israel has been plucked out of nowhere as such. "Police all over the world" might use this technique, but how many of them are training the US police force? I'm going to outline again that I support this decision even if it turns out that the Israeli police did train the US police to do this (not that I believe at present that they did) - mostly because it's good politics, makes it clear which side Starmer is on, and has the benefit of forcing the issue away from the leadership.1 point

It's not Corbynism he's trying to crush but the legacy of inaction over antisemitism that has plagued the party for years. Granted I can see why you might struggle to make the distinction.1 point

So you thought you'd start that particular argument anyway? Liverpool could end up with 200+ points over two seasons So you could be right. Possibly.1 point

If you're a player who's watched their Netflix show, why would you want to go there if you had a viable alternative, especially at a club in a higher position with more recent PL experience? That's it! The 'Friendly cup' games against Norwich are cancelled!1 point

If they were in the same division a lot of players would go for Norwich. Also completely misses the point that money is a massive motivating factor, and therefore any club able to pay higher wages automatically becomes a more attractive option for virtually every player. On top of that they have a fucking terrible reputation as a club within the game1 point

How do you spend £4m on a player who has scored 76 goals in his last three seasons as a League One player and have no idea how he's going to fit into your system? This sounds exactly like what it was, the chairman buying a player with absolutely no buy in from his manager. He also doesn't sound like a player too keen to return to Sunderland next season. It'd be a miracle if they managed to recoup half of their outlay.1 point

"God's wonderful breathing system" doesn't sound like it's working too well for that out of breath old hag. The first lass needs sectioning. The second one needs to get back to chasing fraggles down holes.1 point

I know you’re taking the piss but he’s clearly their best player. Get him around players who are on his wavelength and his vision and movement will come to the fore. Thought it was a fair result, neither team deserved to win it and a shame that Bournemouth are simply to shit to beat anybody so Villa can’t be dragged any further1 point
-
The thing I like about him is his strength. He’s got all the tricks and the ability go past people but defenders really struggle to muscle him off the ball so I don’t mind it too much when he tries to dribble himself out of trouble in his own half.1 point
