Lump turned out to be nowt. Pretty happy I live near the Christie, the staff there are amazing. Old man has had to move onto radiotherapy, but still looking positive. My new job starts soon, just working my notice. House is finished upstairs (things i could do myself) and expecting structural reports this week to get downstairs finished. Bit drunk (blue label) but cheers all, look after yourself and your loved ones x11 points

Aye, I have a nagging terror about all of this to be honest. Toontastic crowdfunder for a patch of land on a remote Scottish island where we can all hide out when the shit hits the fan, swapping tips on curry spice pots and taking the piss out of The Fish?4 points

I’m standing by the fact he simply loses all his authority come January 20th, unless he starts miraculously winning these court cases they won’t be ignoring the election results. They’re just all pretending it’s not the case as the orange dick head simply can’t accept he has lost, this is coming from the people who base large parts of their fraud argument on “well he won there last time, so since they voted a different way this time it has to be fraud”. I’ve no doubt this will continue for months but unless they can actually pull together some actual evidence they will barely see the inside of a court, let alone win cases, and even if they do win it would lead to recounts etc, it would take a hell of a lot to throw out the entire election like some are intimating. As Biden said today it’s just embarrassing. It also further astounds me people that claim to be nationalists stand by this shit, it’s making America look weak, and although Biden will be quick on the take when he’s in due to his 8years as VP it’s an unnecessary factor to add to the transfer of power simply because a 70 odd year old baby can’t accept he got beaten. For some more what the fuck is wrong with this guy here’s an old (but absurd) article, which also makes me think the prick is more fraudulent than I even thought he was: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/10/trump-papers-filing-system-6351642 points

It's a fair point mind, it's hard to imagine he's ever had a normal interaction with his kid. EDIT: His youngest kid, I should say. He's had some pretty abnormal interactions with the other ones.2 points

It does mean that only 8 out of 100 dissidents getting treated with the vaccine died during a randomised trial, while those who got the novichok placebo were killed more effectively.1 point

Have you heard any of Mixmaster Morris’s stuff? Done a few really good ambient / ambient techno albums and eps. Releases stuff as Irresistible Force. Also did some class stuff with Pete Namlook (Dreamfish). Worth a follow on mixcloud for his DJ sets too. Used to play ambient/techno sets in the 90s but nowadays plays a proper eclectic mix of chilled stuff. Everything from Thundercat to Steely Dan to some weird jazz shit.1 point

I think it's fucking terrible when you're at the match. You don't know whether to celebrate or not and that takes the spontaneous joy of a goal away. And half the time you've no idea of what's going on. It's particularly bad at home games as there's so much of the ground that can't see the 'big' screen. With only games to watch on telly at the moment I think people are forgetting how bad it is for fans in the ground. The other side of it is still the amount of stupid decisions that are being made on the back of it like our pen against Spurs or Bamford's disallowed goal at the weekend. Admittedly a bit of sense from the rule makers could get around that farce. The final thing that I'm not at all convinced about is how long they allow play to go on when there is a blatant offside. I understand the reason for them doing this but apart from it being ridiculous when you it looks like someone is clean through only for them to be flagged offside ages after, I worry about the potential for injuries when someone is making a challenge that there is no need for or pulling a muscle when a making a desperate chase after a forward. We nearly lost Darlow when this happened in the Manchester game. Fortunately the injury wasn't bad but I'm just waiting for a leg break happening when there was no need for the challenge to be made if the linesman had just flagged offside.1 point

All their albums are good but Tomorrow’s Harvest is possibly their weakest. Still good though. So get Geogaddi and The Campfire Headphase (great name too). There’s a few eps and bootleg compilations but most of the stuff appears on the albums somewhere or other. There’s also Twoism which is basically their debut but a lot of it ended up on Music has the right... CD copies used to go for £100s but it was eventually reissued1 point

The system is already switching to the President-elect, and there is nothinghe can do about it. Once the states licence their electoral college delegates that’s it, although there is another four weeks of his posturing to endure. Providing each of the states has kept to its own constitutional rules on elections, the Supreme Court will not intervene. Without that, Trump is toast.1 point

Yes he was and so is the author. 24 US states raised the minimum wage by an average of 30% in the years from 2016. That's the main driver behind the increase in low income wage growth. The author is a racist, conservative Republican. OPEN YOUR EYES SHEEPLE!1 point

He’s not as good but he’s more in the Bellamy mould. He seems to better suited centrally than out wide too I agree. Getting the best out of him is probably beyond the manager though.1 point

The Republicans are playing a linger game here. They aren't expecting to get Trump to overturn the result, but they will use the chaos to further their ramp up their voter suppression and gerrymandering the districts. As long as they have control of the senate they can obstruct any democratic president, and then they will win easily in 2024. For now a Right wing Democrat president and control of the senate is their ideal outcome. Trump has done his job1 point

it was foolish play and a terrible part of the pitch to be trying some shit like that but that's exactly the point - it's not the area of the pitch you want a player like him, is it?1 point

Is what we can expect for foreseeable? A decent performance followed by a shitshow? It'll be enough to keep Bruce in the job, surely? Was saying elsewhere that the inconsistency is the biggest frustration; we've clearly got a squad that can play decent football, even if it isn't thrilling. So how can we follow a performance like we saw against Everton, with that terrible shit? Surely it's obvious to Bruce now? Play 5 at the back, 2 in the middle, 2 out wide, one up front. Change the style depending on the opposition. Longball is fine on occasion, trying to pass it out is fine when appropriate. We've got plenty of players with pace, we've got decent centrebacks, so that's what the first team should be built around, right? Solid defensive shape and counter?1 point
