Btw, this thread gives a pretty good record of the government's shit housery, from March 12th onwards, about page 13. Nearly everyone on here knew Johnson's actions was going to lead to huge loss of life, at that time. Understating the seriousness of the disease, the mixed messaging, using out of date and inappropriate influenza guidance, the delayed lockdown. Its all there and is as good as factual account as any about the situation 15 months ago. Im sure the autumn and winter disasters are equally well documented. So many people have died and suffered, it honestly beggars belief how they are getting away with it. Johnson is just redirecting it all to an enquiry that won't report whilst he's in office. And yet staggeringly he just gets more popular.3 points

Does it feel like anything would work? Doesn’t to me. I’m at the point where I’m happy to have the plebs reap what they’ve sown. I’ll be probably be fine, they won’t. Let them own it. The stupid fucking cunts2 points

Honestly, same. It's just not possible to continue to be emotionally invested in this - but that said, I do continue to feel bad for people who are vulnerable, who can see this exactly for what it is, and who will be negatively affected by it. Ultimately though, I'm just not sure what any of us can do anymore. I would be interested to learn how these polls translate into actual population driven numbers though - my understanding is that all of the responses they get are fed through constituency modelling. If this is representative of where we are across the population on the whole then we genuinely are in trouble. Silver lining to all of this could be an actual electoral pact (not a fake one, not a "we could work with Labour if they would only..." pact). Labour clearly can't challenge the Tories from where they are - the sooner this is recognised, the sooner they can start doing something about it.1 point

How far back do you have to go for £12m to be a genuinely useful transfer budget 15 years? 20?1 point

Don't underestimate her, she is hugely influential. Isn't our democracy wonderful? Oh aye, remember just over a year ago the police had to be called out following them having a violent argument. In normal times, yet another reason he should have resigned. Now? Shows he's one of the lads.1 point

Same with Weatherill, tbh I think Bobby's best work was with JAMC and whenever someone else has touched (not in a makem sort of way) his work it has become much better than what he creates by himself.1 point

The only people who suspected any of this though, are the remainer lefties. You think Cummings is trying to appeal to us? As I mentioned earlier, the Daily Mail comment section is tearing him a new one (other than on Hancock, whom even they seem to despise) He's got nothing to lose, isn't planning to go back to government, and has a score to settle. So he's thrown in a hand grenade to amuse himself more than anything else, IMO. Either way I don't see what we stand to gain by stacking up against him. We should let him and Johnson kill each other, frankly.1 point

What Cummings said fits in pretty well with what we know and with the observational evidence. That's what's different. He's telling the truth this time because he thinks it benefits him, presumably playing the Gove long game. The irony isn't lost on me that he won't be believed or taken seriously by the electorate because of the very culture in Westminster, namely manifest lying and doubling down, that he more than anyone else created.1 point

Had it on me ipad while watching something else on the telly. Was pretty shit from what I seen. Quite a few good penalties but not the greatest keeping. Shocking miss from Rashford which has led to frankly embarassing racist abuse and frightening defence of that abuse on the basis that these people seem to think it's fine since he had a shit game.1 point
