I can only assume that someone is testing the theory that if you give an infinite number of mackems typewriters, they will eventually type the works of Shakespeare. So far it doesn't hold up.5 points

I like it when England are good because it makes people I like happy, but I like it when England are bad because it makes people I dislike unhappy. It's a dilemma and no mistake.4 points

This will give them a good excuse to get rid of the European Convention of Human Rights. Russia and Belarus will be happy to get joined by their fascist comrades.4 points

Irrespective of his social choices, he's by some distance the best central defender I've seen in a black & white shirt. Imagine if we'd had someone of his calibre in the 1995/96 season.3 points

I think the aim is two fold - continuing the "lefty lawyer" narrative and a simple boost to their racist voters - the policy is now backed by more people than opposed according to polls.2 points

Wouldn’t be surprised if Eriksen picks a london team. He will still have a house there and he lives there for years, he doesn’t need money at this point so may as well stay somewhere him and his family are comfortable2 points

Sat here with a knee which is aching simply because I went on a long walk yesterday, watching an absolute smokeshow of a young lass pull that shit. I've never felt older.2 points

It will never stop being hilarious that one of these wildly average teams will be at the World Cup and Italy won't2 points

This boils my piss as well. These are the best managers in the world, managing the best teams in Europe, who are regularly making the last 4/2 of the best club competition in the world and players like Mount and TAA are key components. The latter especially has to be the deadliest wing back in England in terms of his deliveries and I think he’s better defensively than he’s given credit for. He is completely impotent for England. Mount has hit double figures for goals and assists this season, I believe and he looks like a competition winner in an England shirt. It’s not like they don’t play for teams that don’t control possession either. England regularly have 60-70% of the ball, similar to the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool, and they do fuck all with it. The lack of movement is criminal. Even Bowen has been dragged into the mire with it. The major crime with Southgate, and, to be fair, the mechanical nature of it has seen us have good tournaments, is that these great creative players, who should be let off the leash, even if only sporadically, are locked into these very small areas of the pitch. There’s very little interchange of positions, too much sideways passing, players aren’t encouraged to dribble and take that chance because it’ll concede possession. I’d love to be proven wrong but I think the pragmatic stance will fall at the first hurdle this time because we’re going to be up against two sides who are going to disrupt us, beat us to the physical side of things and, if the USA are anything like their previous WC appearance, be loaded with the lethal mix of unreal athleticism and USA USA patriotism that is genuinely potent for the first two weeks. Wales and the USA are simply not going to let us have things our way and Southgate has shown that he struggles to react when his plan gets ripped up1 point

Obviously, the bloke who has got very good tournament form (even if there’s an argument that he bottled the final of the last one) should get this one coming up but I think he reached his peak last year and his limitations are only going to be more exposed from here on in. As for who replaces him after the World Cup, I have no idea. I can’t see Howe or Potter walking away from what they’ve started/are starting at their clubs and the English public will not accept a foreigner so that rules out some proven international managers like Low. So, someone quote this back at me when Wayne Rooney is in the dugout for the February friendlies1 point

I think they’d have lost by not being positive as soon as they’d conceded all those 1st innings runs @Gemmill1 point

He’s got a fucking cheek like. Plenty journalists (the shit ones, like him) do the same a fair bit of the time. That’s when they’re not arselicking abysmal managers for a scoop1 point

Casey calls himself a freelance journalist and I think it was PaddockLad on here who said a Google of him doesn’t return a single article. They’re just fantasists drunk on attention. And monumental bell ends1 point
