I managed to sit in the corner of a boxing day family do and watch 90 mins on prime on my phone. Was worth the complaints from the wife about my anti social behaviour as she passed me another beer đ¤Ł10 points

Steve Bruce isnât a bad shout for them. Look at how weâve been performing lately and West Brom have won 7 of their last 8. If I were Steve Bruce Iâd rock up to Goodison Park with the pitch, âappoint me and youâll be in the Champions League in three years, providing you sack me in twoâ.8 points

precisely. however should there be any doubts beginning to creep in regarding lampard's suitability, they need steering in the direction of steve bruce, who is currently available and one of the most important managers in british footballing history.7 points

Was staying over my mams for Christmas as it's an easier drive to visit family. Got back from a night out and hit the spirits cabinet...only one was open. Brandy, "three barrels" or some shite. I woke up and she said "Thomas have you been at that brandy? It's for bloody cakes man!" I am a man of taste.6 points

So fuck even if it was true about Milburn? It isnât but all it would mean is a Sunderland fan scored more than 200 goals for us and was instrumental in winning 3 FA Cups. Thatâs them getting one up on us? even the daft fantasies they dream up are fucking shite.5 points

And why did they sing songs about âa wonderful day watching Bobby Robson pass awayâ seeing as he was a MLF too and best mates with Niall Quinn etc etc? Bobby and Jack Charlton used to go to Roker as kids if there was a player they wanted to see play in the opposition line up, itâs in BCâs Man Utd book (good read, James Lawton ghost writer ) BC strikes me as a bit of a Michael Owen type, probably too dull to get passionate about any team, he just desperately wanted to be a footballer and thatâs all he did. JC was 100% Mag, I saw him say it on tv once, he also worked down the pit and did his national service in the Grenadier Guards. I think that made him a far more rounded person, far more down to earth, and in some ways gave him the balls to go for the Ireland iob . Anyway, none of them were supporters in any way, shape or form of SAFC. Claims to the contrary are the stuff of wearside fuckin fantasy.5 points

Those Milburn posts on Christmas day sum them up. Absolutely tragic stuff and I mean tragic. Like Columbo though, there's one thing bothering me, if they're so delighted about Jackie being an MLF why did they chant 'Jackie is dead' at the first derby we played them at Roker Park after his passing? I thought they were geet classy as owt and wor Jackie was an MLF? It's almost as if they're full of shit and bitter as fuck?5 points

Weâre 4/7 to make the top four which I find incredible. Maybe itâs just years of conditioning as a Newcastle fan but Iâve spent the past 12 months expecting this run to end imminently and it just hasnât.5 points

What a ridiculous fairy tale for Burn btw. 2nd in the league with his boyhood team and he looks entirely the part even playing out of position.5 points

Really good player, always hard to tell if a player will translate well from the dutch league to the PL. Also doesn't address any of their issues at all, despite their injuries right now he plays in the same position and both Jota and Diaz. They've absolutely just signed him because they could and because it prevents Man u from having him.5 points

Before the season most of us would have taken 8th. From this position anything below 6th would be disappointing as it would mean we implode in the second half of the season. Top 4 is very much on. Weâve played pretty much everyone other than Arsenal. Man City and their freak centre forward is the only team to fear on what weâve seen so far. There just arenât that many other top teams to worry about. Spurs? Man U? Meh. Chelsea? Meh. Liverpool? Hell no. Itâs very much in our hands. I canât wait until Liverpool come to sjp because I think weâll do them and take revenge for being cheated at anfield. As for the title, it probably is beyond us this season but I agree with the manager. Iâm going to enjoy being in the title race until weâre mathematically out of it. Weâre paying brilliantly and are in second place on Boxing Day - of course weâre in the fucking race!4 points

Argentina is a market so absolutely devalued and corrupt and in need of money, that its stars or young players leave for a laughing price (especially if we compare it with Brazil and Endrick, Viniciuys, Rodrygo, Reinier, Gabigol, etc). The most expensive sale in its history was Lautaro (âŹ25M) and previously, Aguero (23M) The list... Alvarez (21M), Bentancur (21M), Alario (19M)... AlmirĂłn himself went 7-8M to the MLS when he was a very prominent player. I think, without a doubt, that it is a very good market to sign future promises. Some could be added to the team, but others can go on loan to other clubs and see how they progress. If they go wrong, the transfer price hasn't been too bad, so there's no problem, but if it goes well you can have a new Enzo FernĂĄndez, MaCallister or JuliĂĄn Ălvarez. There are really interesting players like Nico de la Cruz, Alan Valera, Facundo Bounanotte, Facundo Farias (my favourite, but he has a serious knee injury), Perrone, Ezequiel Barco or ValentĂn GĂłmez. Hardly any of these will cost you more than âŹ10-12M.4 points

Despite everyone being in great form, they are all replaceable by better players imo. Longstaff, almiron, asm, willock, burn, fab, even joelinton. There is a point when these players become the squad players to better players, or leave.4 points

Cucurella is a rancid player, fucking ÂŁ60m for a back up left back whose only involvement is basically dribble the ball to the first defender, immediately turnaround and pass back or sideways, repeat for 90 minutes.3 points

If we hark back to the days of "purple players", who are we talking about in the current squad? Pope Botman Trippier Bruno Isak Almiron, Schar and Joelinton may be playing themselves into that bracket. Wilson would be in there too if he could string 10 games together. Squad wise, Dan Burn is a great utility player at LB/CB. We probably won't find a better 2nd choice GK than Darlow, 3rd choice CF than Wood or 2nd choice LB than Targett. Elliot Anderson has shown promise too. Willock and ASM flatter to deceive for me and are the 2 spots in the starting XI up for grabs. Fraser, Lascelles, Krafth, Dummet, Longstaff, Murphy, Lewis, Manquillo and Shelvey should all be moved on so they can be replaced by promising youngsters or new purples for the first team (easier said then done when they are all on decent contracts)3 points

looking on your board to try and find a chat about title ambitions this year and i saw this line. it resonated with me having gone through much of the same stuff. it's so hard replacing loved players. but its a constant thing that has to be done. eventually you get to the point that you can't even agree who should start due to the quality of the squad. ie this player must start buuut so must that one.3 points

I know going back to my granddadâs generation that it was fairly common to be a Newcastle fan but attend games at Roker Park. Makes sense given not many people had the means or the time to go to away games. And what other chance would you have of seeing someone like Stanley Matthews or Nat Lofthouse other than once a season at SJP? And the Bobby Robson quote about what is a club⌠makes no sense in relation to SAFC.3 points

Screw the title race man. Top 4 would be an incredible achievement. Was just reading a tweet from a Man City fan on how we're supposed to be in the "Bellamy/Adebayor" stage and still pissing the league. Nobody can make sense of it and nobody knows what to do about it. If we avoid significant injuries we will take top 4. This lot are that good and Howe is relentless. It's freaking magnificent.3 points

My biggest problem is the dog. Not sure if you lot over celebrate when we score, but we all tend to jump up etc etc. The dog absolutely loves a goal celebration and grabs the nearest cuddly toy and up on hind legs celebrating3 points

I think James O'brien said it best when he talks about how part of the education/culture of the UK is that we're deliberately ingrained with the notion that anyone who's that posh is automatically intelligent and worthy of being thought of as our "better" with the right to rule and be looked up to. Hilariously it applies to Johnson as well but Rees-Mogg epitomises it. It's all emperor's new clothes of course.3 points

This. I agree eith your observation of Botman, too. Itâs incredible what a good manager with a âplanâ can do. The impact both Bruno as well as Botman have had is amazing. Itâs also a credit to the management that they didnât rush the players but made sure to get the best out of the players.3 points

Lennie Lawrence: "I fancy Liam OâBrien over the wall." "Itâs a brilliant feeling to be honest. And 20 years on weâre still talking about it. But everybody wants to win against their main rivals. That day in 1992 was special for us, weâd won 10 games and wanted to keep up the 100% record. To score the winner was special and it was a really good time for the supporters. It was the start of the good times. Weâd avoided relegation a few months earlier and we had a really good squad. We were flowing with confidence and the rapport of the lads was excellent. The camaraderie within the squad helped us gain promotion."3 points
