I think it's hard to compare as they really were different era's, had Eddie been around then would he have the knowledge and tools he does now? I'd very much doubt it. KK's an old man now and happily retired but I still think he was cutting edge for his time here, Europe was sitting up and taking notice of NUFC, not just here, the old mag I think it was had a few cuttings taken from Spain and France at the time and we were news like maybe Ajax's academy for example might be news here. Eddie would absolutely storm it if you beamed him back into a early 90s football club with his 2020s experience and know how. Keegan didn't have that. Even SBR acknowledges how much his European experience after England helped him become an even better manager as did Eddie acknowledge his time going around Europe helped him in between jobs. KK just walked off a six year golfing retirement in Spain and had to handle players he probably had never heard of and then grow the club with a few internal battles with the board when it was needed. I recall Terry Butcher spending a similar amount as KK did the season after we stormed it and nearly getting themselves relegated to the third. He's very much a man of his time and took inspiration from Shankley but put his own stamp on it. Obviously not pointing any fingers at anyone on here but I can't stand the revisionist bollocks that gets spouted about him these days by daft little cunts whose only real knowledge seems to be sky punting the love it video or showing him slumped over the anfield hoarding with Tyler's voice actually loving it himself as he no doubt was stroking himself. The bloke deserves far, far more respect than he gets nationally imo.10 points

'Welcome back, Isaac. There's been a few changes since you last here. It's a mixture of good news and bad news.' 'What's the good news?' 'Well, we're now good.' 'And the bad news?' 'You're still not good.'8 points

Arsenal probably the most embarrassing fan base in the whole division. Such a huge amount of entitled clueless cunts amongst their ranks5 points

The first replies I saw. Unreal the way the media narrative has warped simpletons like this. A bloke with an arsenal player in his avatar saying this! Despite the fact Arsenal have outspent us by a fucking mile over the same time frame despite having a much more advanced start point. In fact it’s full of Arsenal fans saying Howe has spent loads what fucking planet are these people on? I look forward to seeing what a Howe team looks and plays like when he’s spent what Arteta has…5 points

As fans we’re sentimental as we have an emotional attachment to the club (obviously) but also to players. Even to the extent you can love someone limited in ability who runs round giving his all. But it’s different for those running the club, managing / coaching the players. The best managers have a great rapport and relationship with their players but they also need to be brutal about replacing players who’ve dove a job for them. Shelvey absolutely fits that criteria. Keegan was like that and I fully expect Howe to be the same. Also Shelvey has sone fantastic attributes and has knuckled down too, like Gloom says. But I would say even if everyone was fit and available, even before any new additions, we’re probably a better team without him in the starting XI4 points

Yes, lets. Just listening to the last Oh God What Now podcast of the year there and they made a fairly good point that all these populists, and also supposed geniuses like Musk, are falling flat on their faces through a combination of believing ther own hype (aided by their sycophants) and just their own rank stupidity and incompetence. I do have a tiny bit of hope this era of lunacy might be drawing to a close now. It's a pleasure to see Rees-Mogg fucking a fucked party even fucking more, the fucking runt.4 points

I feel a bit sorry for him as he upped his game after Howe came in and went away and got fitter than he’s ever been before, losing loads of weight and looking really lean. I wonder if these injury breakdowns are just a result of his body not being used to it. He got away with playing the game at his own pace for most of his career4 points

“Wha’s the matter Patrick t’love?” “ooooo am in a right state, I remembered we were playing those ruff Newcastle guys and had a reeeeyt scary dream. I was at the most artisanal of fwoffy coffee shops in allllll of Yorkshire, and who walks in but none other than that big rough boy Joelinton and his bully of a friend Bwuno” ”ohhh t’no” ”haven’t heard the half of it yet. So anyway I ordered the frothiest of coffees, and I mean the fucking frothiest. It was a triple caramel pump double chai mocchaccino with a double frappe chocolate twist, and a whole can of their whippiest of creams. When it was made I told Tristan what an artiste he is, well anyways I turned around and they were just laughing at me and speaking all foreign, and as the big fella Joe went past me he knocked me right over and my fwoffy coffee just went all over the place. The bully Bruno grabbed my shoulder and finally I thought these bullies are being nice but he just told me ‘Fanks for the ball soft lad Miggy just tucked away the fifth’ and suddenly I was on the pitch and everyone was laughing at me” 5-04 points

The established starting XI this season includes 5 new players. Pope, Trippier, Botman, Burn and Bruno. Yes we've spent money, but those 5 collectively cost less than Jack Grealish ffs3 points

There’s a good doc the beeb did called Boys from Brazil which I think only went up to ‘86 due to when it was made. It’s narrated by Motson who makes the point that the misses in 1970 were better than some of their goals. Particularly the shot from the halfway line and the fucking outrageous dummy on the keeper v Uruguay. My dad loved Cruyff and George Best and thinks Messi is a genius but Pele has no equal in his eyes3 points

JRM would be the ultimate symbol of this era of conservatives. Thick as mince, corrupt as fuck, talentless, has had everything handed to him on a plate and constantly lies through his teeth. All the while believing his own hype, thinking his education has equipped him with the tools to talk his way out of anything. He’d be as bad as Truss and if it got to the members he’d be right up their street3 points

When you have to go officially on record you generally slightly downplay your expectations and desires. It's why I'm still definitely happy with a finish in the top eight. Financially there's not a lot of difference between finishing second or fourth so it won't really matter to their project/progression, but if you're 5 points clear at the top with 40% of the season played you'd have to be slightly disappointed with fourth.3 points

that's the spirit howay. too many fuckers on this thread have spent the last few days sat on their arses drinking bucks fizz and nibbling girlie canapés as they turn soft as shite. reminds me of the martin sheen scene in saigon where he says this.... I’m here a week now… waiting for a mission… getting softer. every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger. well I'm not having it, we've lost once since we dicked these cunts in may, and that was a corrupt travesty. they're doing ok, but they've had a freakish run without a single draw, they'll have a dodgy run and it'll start on saturday when they get beat at brighton. they're no better than us, the southern pussys.... get in to them and fuck them up!3 points

Incredible manager. I fully admit I was not convinced when we initially got him, I really feared given the struggles he has previously had on the defensive side of the game that we would go down (although I thought he’d do well in the Championship). I’ve never been happier to be proven completely fucking wrong. The way he worked in his time away to improve and adapt his game, focusing on his weaknesses and turning them to a strength is absolutely incredible and full credit to him. He’s an example for other coaches on how to utilize time out of a job, but sadly the media thinks sinking 10 pints of Guinness a day in the diamond makes you worthy of PL jobs.3 points

I can’t stand Arsenal. Hope we hammer the cunts. Fwiw I think Arteta is doing a good job but I hate the way the media frame it as a project in the same manner as what Howe is doing at NUFC. Howe and our owners are comprehensively reshaping the club, including the youth set up, facilities, mentality within the club, how the club is seen externally, revenue streams, fucking everything - in contrast Arteta is at a club with world class facilities, youth academy, a club that’s one of, and has been one of, the premier European sides over the last 30 years. In the last 27 seasons they’ve finished outside the top 6 twice, both under Arteta, and under Arteta they’ve spent somewhere in the region of £450m. Even if Arteta was to win the league, us finishing top 6 would eclipse that achievement tbh - of course media bias would mean Arteta was crowned manager of the year over Howe the same way as Klopp winning it over Howe last season was complete and utter nonsense. I personally don’t give a fuck about the media but I know that it will impact Howe in some way which is why it fucking does my box in. I don’t think I’ve ever seen media bias more plain than when we decimated them last season and a graphic popped in the top corner showing January spend with us at £80m and them at zero the intention was clear, despite the fact Arsenal spent near £150m that prior summer, we were the big spenders so what could little old Arsenal and their project do. I realize I’ve ignored Leeds btw, that’s intentional as I think we will run right through the soft cunts. I’ve thought it for a while but there’s certain teams in the league that I just now think won’t ever be a problem for us as they’re simply too small and lightweight, so even if we play poorly we will bully them for 90 minutes, and Leeds are definitely one of them. Bamford will be complaining to his mates on New Years Day about how rough those Newcastle boys were to him and the gang while he’s sipping his double caramel latte with extra fluffy cream on top.2 points
