Mackem update. The main thread (since Easter I think) is now on 9542 posts, mainly the same post repeated. They've had a bit of sex wee because Maddison might not be signing for us though. There's still plenty of spin off threads too. There's one where they get very worked up about people wearing toon tops. Apparently everbody in Newcastle does this, and it justifies secretly taking photos of random lasses wearing the tops and posting them online. Anyway, unfortunately it doesn't have the random impact on strangers the mackem crest has though. This definitely happened.

I'd go down the route of befriending somebody in assisted living who also happens to get a new car every 3 years under the mobility scheme. it's always worked for me.

Wife did Leeds 10km on Sunday. Whilst waiting I was stood near her pen a young lad of about 15 walked passed in a Mackem shirt. Anyway, run started I walked off to a part of the course where I could see them returning. The elite runners started coming in around the 31min mark and I was there applauding. I know a few of them so was nice to see. A mate was coming in around 33 mins, I was cheering and just behind him was this kid in a Mackem shirt He overtook my mate and my mate did a double take. I was pissing myself laughing and at the end we were having a chat. Turns out this kid took a massive short cut (no shit) and hid waiting

Guinness zero is the answer, I rarely drink these days, despite the peer pressure and piss taking, it's good stuff and (in answer to the "what's the point" merchants) it feels like you're having a pint, even to the point of getting a tipsy feeling (obviously psychological) with no hangover guaranteed. I do like a few beers sat on my deck at the, van in the sun, but I always have precautionary Alka Seltzer on hand up there 😀 As Gloom says booze is omnipresent and the pressure to drink it equally so. Couple thoughts on this. NUFC have said a few times (see recent Athletic article) that they only want to pursue players that want to be at the club. The don't want to be played off against other teams and so on. So, if he indicates he wants to move south then the club would drop him as an idea like a hot stone. Or it could be lazy reporting based on previous info. Could also be an agent trying to get us to increase our offer to him (wages) to bend his arm and so on. All in all, so many moving parts on transfers and who wants who to hear what. It's hard to ignore as you want to hear who we're linked too, but so many mind games go on around transfers.

I said similar about the Chronicle but it seems to apply to most the NE coverage, they seem to focus on being negative about every fucking story and link. If we’d listened to them we’d never have Botman, Isak, etc and we’d have sold Bruno. It’s a story about a player who currently has no bids submitted for him, unless Scott Wilson is somehow getting the information from Maddison’s agent, or Maddison himself it’s nonsense, and I’ve no idea why either of them would want the press knowing where he was leaning anyway.

Agree with all of this, including the criticisms of bazball. But it’s working so far and isn’t it refreshing that after years of negative captaincy that the whole mindset is now geared towards forcing a positive result? It will backfire sometimes, I’m sure stokes will end up looking silly after one of these gangsta declarations and they will be accused of being naive or arrogant but I’d much rather continue this way, as long as it forces more wins than losses.
