  1. Ten Hag also seemingly a shit man manager to go alongside the fact he’s a shite tactician and judge of player.

  2. Just put lyon v PSG on and can only conclude they'll cut through us especially if defensive injuries are still apparent by then. It's 2-0 to PSG which I've missed but did see a Lyon corner turn into a three on two counter attack by PSG where they hit the bar as the three toyed with the two. Your French correspondent, Haw-Hee-HawmanHeyman. (They've just scored a third after 38 mins).

  3. Bruno’s mind is elsewhere, probably on social media. Why else would you take your child on to the pitch v one of the best sides in the league? Tbf, that’s on Howe for allowing it. Can anyone give me an positive argument for how looking after an infant prepares a footballer for one of the biggest games of the season? Did you see Roy Keane or Patrick Viera do it? Does anyone want to guess at how Fergie or Wenger would’ve answered the request?… I voiced concerns about him last season and am not suggesting am 100% correct but at the moment he is completely over hyped . His contribution for the last third of last season was negligible (post suspension) and he’s continued in that vein this season. Yes Tonali changes the balance, yes we’re missing Willock and it now appears Joelinton has an injury. But when your Brazilian international midfield lynchpin is given a lesson in how to play that role to perfection by BILLY FUCKIN GILMOUR then you know you’re in trouble. It’s weird, sometimes it appeared that we couldn’t beat anyone without him but currently he’s nowhere near good enough to put it up to the best PL midfielders. The badge kissing self regarding fuckin wanksock needs to get his head out of twitter (wtf was he doing reading his own press? Guilty conscience per chance?) and needs to start thinking about football. And Howe needs to stop indulging him There. Am pleased I’ve got that off my chest (This is probably stated a bit too strongly but it is difficult to argue iyam. Did I mention I fuckin hate badge kissers? 😆)

  5. And many possibly even your good self said we don’t play with a Maddison type player. We can’t have it both ways, hindsight is for daft shites First proper bad trot under Howe. He was the second coming of Christ three months ago. There’s a lot of bandwidth being used up by knee jerk nonsense. Let’s see what happens 🤷🏻‍♂️

  6. Aye. It’s also ‘blood money’ if the Saudis want to buy a player that a club wants to hang onto eg Salah but its fine if it’s a player surplus to requirements (like Henderson).

  12. Aye, and for all the talk of the Emery revolution they've so far got pumped off us, getting pumped off Liverpool, and have beaten two of the leagues biggest turkeys in Everton and Burnley. If they'd had the start we had they'd be on zero points.

  13. He hasn’t looked “match fit” to me in his few appearances this season but this is a striking stat.

  14. I think the problem with the centre backs yesterday was a combo of 4 main things - them not having played together recently, Ferguson having a really good game and Targett having a fucking mare. But mainly the midfield 3 completely misfiring individually and as a unit, letting the opposition have far too much possession. I do trust Howe of course but there is a lot to sort out. Another thing is starting Isak (a must 9 times out of 10 when fit imo) but getting his teammates close to him. He’s looked isolated in the last couple of games. I don’t think Howe will do it but I would like to try him as a 10 on a 4-2-3-1, behind Wilson, as a fair few of us have mentioned as an option. It’s not easy and it’s not like a computer simulation like. You fix one thing and that creates different problems but we’re getting overrun a bit at times in CM anyway. Willock and Longstaff’s running is a big miss. Teams couldn’t handle it last year.

  16. As we've seen this summer, there isn't a club in the PL that would turn its nose up at PIF's cash when it comes in for their players from the Pro League. That's the exact same cash they bought our club with, and that we're using to buy players with. Yeah I understand we're owned by them, but "blood money" is "blood money". What do Brighton think Chelsea bought Caicedo with? They'd be taking it themselves if any of their players would stay at their club long enough for the Saudis to bid for them.

  18. Last weekend I was livid, we threw away a win and half an hour of bollocks lost us the game. Tonight was just shite from the start. Full credit to Brighton for capitalising. I think they were decent, and took their opportunity. Ferguson is a unit for 18 years old, I reckon he'll be some player if he continues like that. I've never seen so many howlers in our side, much of them going unpunished thankfully but juggling balls around the box, not closing players down on the 18 yard area and giving balls away in defensive positions was something that was uncharacteristic. Big Joe looked legless, he was running but going nowhere. A lot of the others looked half a yard short. Pope just looked nervous. Miggy wasn't the scapegoat this time around, he did a lot of running first half and ended up coming into the centre to pick the ball up because there was a total disconnect between the middle 3 and front 3. But all that said, we need to put all these games in perspective. Villa we tortured, too scared against City but in the game throughout..dominated Liverpool first half but lost the second and now a really rubbish display. Altogether, about 120 mins of shitty football against 3 of what will likely be top 6. Chance to get back to basics after the break and hopefully right a few wrongs. I'm still not worried, just annoyed.

  19. It’s been so long since I cared much about the champions league, I assumed all the games would be 7:45 kick offs uk time. Next you’ll be telling me it isn’t on ITV with Des Lynam hosting, and it doesn’t clash with the X-Files

  21. the velodrome was an incredible experience in '04 even as a then open bowl, the chant the home support did which was started from one end behind the goal and then mirrored from the opposite end was incredible, was like listening to quality stereo, reminded me of being a kid and listening to shine on you crazy diamond with me head between the speakers after a few spliffs of squidgy black! must be awesome now it's got a roof on. loved marseille too, proper edgy city and their support were fantastic after the match.

  22. Agree. He was fantastic his first year here and has the potential to be one of the best around. His issues last few months have been highlighted already, really hope he can sort it out and the coaching team can help him to it. I'm hopeful Howe will have Tonali Barnes and Hall integrated into his systems soon and they will all regularly start. A good performance or two and everything could start clicking again.

  23. Good afternoon all, I'm back and not here to gloat. A great win for us (I had it down for a draw or a Howe-inspired Smash 'n Grab but was very pleased with the way we went about our business after a shaky early start when Dunk had a brain fog a couple of times. What surprised me the most was how little pressure we got put under and - please accept this in the spirit it is meant - the seeming lack of desire from most of your players. We battered West Ham last week and lost but in truth there was not even the threat of a real counter from Newcastle to concern us once our defence got it's act in gear. If Pedro had managed to drag the ball out from under his feet it could have been 4 or 5. Howe has to address that, the signs were there against Liverpool. As you may be aware I'm a firm admirer of all things NUFC, your supporters are usually the best we get at the Amex, and by a comfortable margin. But your team gave you nothing to hold onto. Fair play to getting a party atmosphere going at the end - I'm only just a few seats across in the corner. But through all that I wish you all the best for the coming season especially in Europe. See you in May at SJP, as usual I can't wait

  24. Swapping places for our Almiron criticism. Aye I’ve always worried Howe has been very conservative/slow to bed players in when sometimes you really should just throw players in. Obviously he’s a top football manager and I’m not so his way has worked up to now, but I do think he got it wrong playing Targett - Hall or even Lascelles were the better options iyam. My biggest complaint with Burn is that the team is so unbalanced with him at left back, the left winger is so isolated at times and it leads to this over reliance on the right with so many chances falling to Almiron. Really hoping Hall brings balance to the build up play. I’m a fan of Bruno but do worry he’s been caught up a bit too much in all the hype, he has to know due to the project we have he was always going to be one of many stars rather than the big star in the pond but he seems to be struggling a bit with that.

  26. Interesting insight on the documentary about our transfer planning. Obviously open to interpretation, but it looks like - Burn is considered a CB in the long run by the club. - Dummet and Ritchie were always going to stay - We were after a 6/back up for Bruno, rather than someone to play alongside him - Anderson greyed out suggests the plan was for him to be on the fringes - We hadn't planned on buying any wingers until ASM went - We wanted a 3rd striker (low priority) - Given Barnes was a direct replacement for ASM, we bought one player less than planned (RCB) You wonder whether Tonali wasn't really the type of MF we were after, but when he became available we felt he was too good to turn down. It's early days, but trying to shoe horn him and Bruno in together seems to be upsetting the team balance atm. I'd be tempted to give Longy a run of games. We looked light in midfield when he was injured at the back end of last season. And without Willock's work rate we are getting overrun far too often in midfield.

  27. Howe has lots and lots of credit in the bank, for me. It’s easy to forget that we outperformed so highly last season. Expectations are obviously raised so he’s a victim of his own success in that sense and success last year doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed to repeat it this season. You have to back him to turn it around after a tough start. Anyone calling for him to be sacked doesn’t know there arse from their elbow but there’s nothing wrong with using this platform to discuss where we may have got tactics or signings wrong EDIT - I wanted Maddison but also acknowledged we would have to change the system or play him out of position to accommodate him
    2 points
  28. I agree. Barnes is a good player and will get his chance. But Maddison is one we were linked with for a long time so you can’t help wonder what might have been when he has started so brilliantly for his new club while our signings have yet to make an impact. Ditto Diaby

  34. If other players wasted the same sort of chances people would be livid. As well as the ball he cut back totally unaware of no player being there. But my point isn’t to criticise Isak though, but to point out that it is foremost not down to single players being responsible for results but a team having to work as a unit, something we didn’t do in recent games. I am pretty confident that the coaching staff is capable to work on this though. We will probably also see a much better understanding and partnership between Bruno ans Tonali soon.

  35. Yes. He's going to have to make a few of those if he's going to become a trophy winning manager here.

  36. Everyone was so bad today it's harsh singling out a player. Just had a look at their second and third goals again and what Burn is going there is beyond explanation. Literally just backed off and stood watching. The midfield was absent anyway and Ferguson had hours to take his shot. Massive reality check since the Villa game when sausages were abound. Serious work to do now. I'd like to see Howe be ruthless. Drop Bruno, Miggy and Burn. Get Hall, Longstaff and Wilson in. This is the sort of performance you don't let go without points being made.

  37. People shouldn’t overreact though. Our run of games for the rest of the year is quite decent. We just need to get our act together. Being in a group in the Champions League where we aren’t expected to progress isn’t too bad either as there will be little pressure to achieve miracles. Performances will have to get better though.

  40. It’s mental like, Maguire and Phillips have barely played club football for over a year now yet they’re in every squad. The other weird one to me is he picked Sterling the whole time he was off the boil, then once he’s found a bit of form Southgate drops him. As I’ve said in the past I’m just so relieved that Newcastle is on a path towards success now as having to hope Southgate figures out how to manage this very talented England squad would be even more painful if it was the only chance to see a team I support winning a trophy.
